I'm not sure about the "Baby Boomers" being at the center of this. Timothy Leary said it was 1946-1964 I think. Well I was born in 1957, so I was only 10 years old in 1967. I was too young for that whole happening. All the people in this film were older then me. So it doesn't quite make sense (?) I certainly dug it all when I was 13 in 1970!
Then it started getting serious: The Spencer Davis Group The Who The Yardbirds, Cream (!) Traffic, Pink Floyd
To the Beatles: "what made you different then all the others (after John said its just Rock & Roll). George: "we got a record contract." (Laughter) So much for the silent one (!)
The Animals and Eric Burden are awesome. What a voice. So many great bands.
Best summer ever! Great music, vibes, great weather.
This is a great documentary about the most important Rock album of all time. The Beatles Masterpiece!
Yeah, I agree with Derek. Don’t take acid on Reading Station with a load of soldiers.
I understand that they can't get the permission or license or anything to use excerpts from Ed Sullivan's Beatles performance. Which is a pity, because that show when the Beatles performed, it's like the Independence Day of 60's British Invasion to United States. Basically it all started from there, blistering performance watched by millions of Americans on television
Thanks for the memories!
Excellent, thank you for showing this
Yardbirds kicked butt, and the Zombies
DC5 is one,of my favorites
hoover was a terrible President almost as bad as Obama and Biden . People were starving and living in huts called hoover ville
The best band ever by far !!!
LOVE ❤️ THIS MUSIC 🎶 🎵 ❤️ THOSE WERE THE DAYS... LOVE ❤️ IT
Thanks . Saw many of these bands including the Beatles live in Adelaide Australia during the 60's .Great memories. Yes the Australian girls screamed just like the English ones.
This makes me very nostalgic. When you look at the state of the country now England used to look so nice.
We in Bucharest werent idiots
I tried to post this in portuguese, CZcams blocked.
A drummer named Starkey...
Yeah Yeah Yeah. Important lyric. Mozart agreed
As expected, there were always gonna be some bands and singers who weren't in the vidoe's line-up. Perhaps most glaring: Procol Harem.
I was a teenager and in the middle of all that. I lead an R&B band which gigged all over the Washington DC region, and I even boogied at London nightclubs during the late 1960's. I dove deep and loved every moment. Am still movin' & groovin', over half a century later. Incidentally, about half the songs that launched those early Brit groups, ...were taken from black music groups in the USA.
The cream of the crop were the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Kinks, and the Dave Clark Five. Everyone else was second rate.
I was able to grow my hair long..Kids have no clue the impact the Beatles and the British invasion had.Not just music but fashion and speaking out..A time to really break away and be heard..It wasn't easy..lol Also it was Chas Chandler, the 6'4" bass player from the Animals that discovered a new talent on their last shows before disbanding. He signed him, became his manager and took him back to England where all of Britain's best musicians came out to see this new artist..His name was Jimi Hendrix..Yea! My big sister bugged my dad to no end and he finally gave in and as a 9 yr old she got him to see the Beatles in 1965. My dad served on a Lt Cruiser in WWII and he said his ears hurt for weeks after that concert..lol I have personally met and spoken to all of Queen, Robert Plant, Rush, Blondie and my sister who has as well she got me back stage passes will always say yes but I saw the Beatles live! Beat that..lol Nope..She wins..lol Oh the keyboardist of Manfred Man was the perfect example of a beatnik..lol
I became a teenager here in the uk in 1963...how lucky was I...thanyou mum and dad
Twice in my life, when iived in that states ive seen birds going nuts over a band..new kids in the block (twats) 😅 and Hanson. My older sisters were into new kids then later my ex-girlfriend 1997-98 was into Hanson and they were all over the bloody news and papers..smh..insane it was
Mr. Brian Jones, an amazing multi instrumentallist !!..memories from Mexico City...
Still going strong: Paul McCartney, RIngo Starr, Mick Jagger, Mannfred Mann, Eric Burdon, Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, amazing!
@28:30 Manfred Mann, underrated band, Manfred Mann had one of the longest careers of any of the 60s rockers, Blinded By the Light!
@25:20 John Lennon's superb wit
Kinks should be considered the fathers of punk and possibly hard rock. Their tunes were fast and hard for the times.
The British Invasion is the greatest period in pop music history.
I agree saw The Beatles in 1966 11years old. What a trip got a guitar next Christmas still playing today but now I have 20 guitars. Thanks George RIP!
All British music is a copy of US music and musicians. It says this in the early part of the film, but it's been obvious for 75 years.
When the 'Beeb' actual made good, honest, factual and insightful documentaries... Brilliant series - anyone recommend others?
Those Holly Boys could sing American music, too.
When the kids stopped dancing and started watching, should have been the first indicator that something was happening.
I honestly had to fast forward thru some of this crap, but as they show more clips of the Who, an Cream, etc all good, but what about Jimi? Sure hes an American but he made his fame in England thx to Chas, an Noel an Mitch were natives....just sayin.... what about the Yardbirds an the lifetime accomplishment of Jeff Beck?
As a old man who grew up around all this this film seems to paint the BBC as poorly as my American counterpart NPR. Yes we had Elvis, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens an more, growing up here in America it always seemed that the British were the trend setters not us. Music doesn't have boundries an real virtuosos never play the who is best game, they just love playing music. Being extremely conscience of the music starting in the early to mid 60's the British invasion totaly surpassed what was happening here.
I was 12 when the “British Invasion” got started in the US back in early 1964. 60 years later and I’m still a diehard Anglophile. It’s still my favorite music (along with the Everly Brothers). What a great time to have been a teenager.
Not so great ... lol .... It was a lot better in 1964.
22:30 Hello I love you?
I watched it with my mum back in 87, and then the era of the Beatles seemed mysteriously remote and 20 years a gulf unspannable. Now I've found it again, some 37 years later, with my eldest daughter almost the age I was then. Can't wait to see what she makes of it. Thank you so much for posting this!

And then there is what attempts to pass itself off as music 🎶 today 😭
What is the sitar music at 56:50?
I saw this, bought The Compleat Beatles on VHS and started buying the new Beatles CDs in 1987!
The laugh is that The Who were the opening act for Herman's Hermits when the Who came to America for the first time
In the USA we had pop music TV shows like Shindig, Hullaballoo, and Hollywood a Go Go during the mid to late 1960's.
Go online and find the British Music TV shows like (Ready Steady Go) or (Top of the Pops) and it will give some more detail.
Que estupendo registro fílmico.. pura historia.. de primera. Excelente compilado. Genial.
