What will cause a riot is when, bu some SNAFU or some bean counter who's never "played in the dirt" for a living saw they ALL were going to have to be DISPOSED of in a couple of months, sends the WHOLE LOT to ONE UNIT DEPLOYED. If you have an experienced shore detachment double checking what goes in the C-CAN and MATCHING IT to whatever "they" typed on the manifest (copied the last one and changed the unit and date on etc) let's be real those guys are kust as ahort staffed and stay behind the 8-ball as everyone else when 'IT" hits the fan! Other thing is, it is LITERALLY I'LL IMPOSSIBLE to please ALL the People ALL the time. Now try and do that with Marines or Army and in EMERGENCIES ANY service, FROM Barrow Alaska Hawaii, Four Couners of CONUS and YANKEE AND MIDWEST to Coonasses in New Orleans with what would be World Class Restaurants anywhere on Earth and don't forget any Immigrant from ANY CULTURE OR COUNTRY in the world AND make it last for 25 years survive a parachute that fails to open and deployments from Arctic to Jungle to Desert AND cook without an open fire or WATER and be SOLDIER PROOF and taste like ALL OF THOSE FOLKS MAMAS COOKIN'?! They have been improving since Valley Forge folks. Our Lead Division Chief, who was on the LAST DUST OFF CHOPPER out of Hue as an HN (I believe he said TET) said the ONLY thing they had not improved on was the canned peaches. He said they would use those like Poker Chips because they were up in some places not officially on the map "Occasionally" to pick up Force Recon sometimes and weren't aupposed to fly with cash as well as often blacked out and radio silent and as well as knapp of the earth with FIRST GENERATION Night goggles. THOSE have certainly been improved FAR MORE THAN THE FOOD. FIRST CUT MREs were way worse. Biggest thing folks really griped about was they didn't have smokes any more. And the country boys it was dip because you're never "Third on a match" that way. Guess some Senator didn't have shares in THOSE Companies. HA!

11:03 BTW, TAKING MACS flights, is almost useless as enlisted, because, 1. Needs of the mission ALWAYS comes first. If they call for the bird you're on with whole family to DIVERT ANYWHERE on the planet for ANY reason, guess where your FLYING? Better hope your kids like MRE's because they probably only loaded chow and water for WHOMEVER is on the MISSION MANIFEST. Maybe NOTHING if it is less than whatever hours flight. Everyone else is brown bagging at own expense. They MAY have some emergency MRES fo 1 meal and max. Of plane, but wouldn't count on it. But basically you are on your own. 2. STRICTLY by RANK. so if only 1 seat left, and an ADMIRAL wants to catch a NELLIS hop to go to VEGAS even though bird may end up in Key West. Guess what. A mere Lieutenant with 4 screamers and an old man who wants to hear "War Stories" everyone else is SICK of their nightmares and cold sweats and is trying to forget will probably be blacklisted for good when they land. 3. Byt hey, FREE TO EUROPE! Just don't hold your breath and BOOK DOMESTIC DEFINITELY. I never got a single one in six years as an E-5. Because they don't fly a set schedule. They fly only when loaded to capacity. And better be cool with a tanker in flight refueling too. And they toilet might be a 5 gallon bucket that had who knows what in it. HA!

Hi Estela! I am have my BS in nursing. I am 40yrs, currently working on paperwork to get to MEPS. My recruiter said I should go in as enlisted, because the officer route my take long time, up to 2 years. If I go in as enlisted, do I still have the option to work as a nurse?

I served enlisted from 81-85. Back then getting pregnant almost always led to being separated from the Navy. Times have surely changed in a good way.

I am old school Navy, 81-85. Sad to see the old dungarees and khakis go away. It was a long tradition. The new uniform you are wearing looks like a Marine to me.

You are inspirational going from enlisted to Officer. I was enlisted on the Airdale side from 81-85, AT2. In my opinion Officers that came through the enlisted ranks were highly respected by us enlisted sailors. Kudos to you. Go Navy.

You are a total inspiration. I was.Navy enlisted on the Aviation side. 81-82. AT2. Wanted to be an Officer really bad. Got out and finished my degree BS in Aeronautical Engineering and decided to stay civilian. Just retired from Delta with 32 years. If I had to do it again I would have went back in with commission and went the pilot route. I am blessed.. Married my Navy sweetheart and we.just celebrated our 40th anniversary. 3 children and 7 grandchildren. :). Go Navy.

Hello, I have a question. I’ve been a nurse here in Az for abut 5 yrs with my nclex-RN license and currently still practicing as a civilian nurse. I have my BSN degree from the Philippines graduate of 2015 and I pursued my MSN-L in 2019, it’s weird because they still ranked me as an O-1 for the US Navy but when I applied for my package in the US Airforce they ranked me as an O-2. What are your thoughts about this? It’s like they dismissed my work experience as a nurse here in the Us and just accredited my MSN years.

I have my BSN and worked for about 4 months in the ED as a new grad just transferred to Oncology cuz it was closer to home and better pay and hospital in my opinion. Can I direct commission I am old as well 34
