This isn't 1970 and you're not Chandler from North shore. Get with the times ya bootyhole surfin salty old dogs and respect the kids (and people your age whatever that is I'm guessing hopelessly over the hill) that are continuously pushing the limits of surfing. Hi Joe Cheers for replying. I guess you probably don't really care, but in response - I am 27 years old, and don't longboard and never have, am underweight (tried to put some muscle on my lanky scrawny body but metabolism says no!) I ride a 6'4 wombat and love it. To tell you the truth I haven't even been surfing for that long and probably don't know as much about surfing or board design as most people posting here.. but you know what, I love surfing just as much as anybody.. and you know what, you're right, I can't do most of the tricks we see in vids, and yeah I wish I could.. I have mad respect for kids like John John and the shit they pull off (could watch his 10 point air at Keramas all day long) but I personally like watching the stylemasters of the 70s more than most of the freestyle stuff on all these movies.. that's not to say I completely dislike what they do, it would just be cool to see a bit of variation for example, not all the guys doing the same 360 one after another, try somethin else ya know?.. Dane does some sick stuff.. but whatever.. call me a hippy or a nostalgic or somethin worse, but the cool thing is we can make our lives what we want, so I can run around with cut offs and a bandana on thinking im in the 70s if i want, dont really care what people think, and you guys can live in todays times, I respect that. I never heard anybody saying stop listening to jimi hendrix youre living in the past for example..in my humble opinion that applies to surfing too. Machado is a guy that blends 70s style with modern agility and maneuvers perfectly, thats awesome and looks great.. kinda going off on a tandem now and forgetting my point now .... haha but anyways, "To each his own" i say!
Why all the hate? Surfing is about fun, not competition, unless obviously you are in a competition which you aren't. Maybe you should spend less time hating and more time surfing. Peace out kook
