Roar 2024 red stag hunting New Zealand - solo public land
This was a 4 day solo hunt on doc land in the south island. My goal for this trip was to shoot something with a good bit of bone on its head. I managed to secure a solid 12 point stag, which ended up being the best stag that I saw during this trip. It was the third trip I have made into this area.

This was both Jared MacDonald and I’s first time chamois hunting. This was a three day hunt, the first day was vertical gain of around 600 meters. Day 2 was another 400m vertical to break out onto the tops.
Great vid mate and really nice head, well done. What sort of bivvy bag is that and does it breath well or do you find it gets a bit damp inside? Cheers Phil
Cheers, It’s just a old fairy down one, and it dose get quiet damp. Don’t think they make them anymore.
Thanks for sharing with us. Really enjoyed watching what I used to be able to do when I was much younger, but without cameras or jet boils (or lightweight tents) . Thanks again, great photos and awesome animal, cheers.
You did well to find a 12 ptr in area as overpopulated with deer as that. Great video, really enjoyed it
