Mary Doyle Curran
"Mary Doyle Curran (May 10, 1917 - 1981) was an American poet, novelist, and teacher. Her work, described by poet Anne Halley as being "haunted" by issues of gender, ethnicity, and class, included many poems and a novel dealing with Irish-American life." -- Wikipedia.
The Greater Holyoke Council for Human Understanding celebrated the life of Mary Doyle Curran on June 29, 2024. Patricia Kennedy, a member of the Council, and Sue Panitch, whose life was dedicated to building bridges of understanding, sought the tombstone of this Holyoke native.
Having finally found it, the Council met at Mary Dolyole Curran's gravestine at the St. Jerome Cemetery.

Doreen, I am so sorry this has happened ²u it's a clear sign to the blind that racism hasn't gone anywhere it has just changed how it looks & how it makes its noise. It also utilizes whoever it can to prove its power.I could emphasize with u being in similar situations. It sometimes creates a struggle/ frustration from within; when u know who u r & people dont wanna /can't here it & not changing who u are due to the trama. This is the coolest thing I have seen in a while. That is how a welcome is done. A lot of communities all across this country welcomed refugees but it was mostly a quiet affair. Boise , Idaho took a good number of families. My job hired a Syrian man n he has since be ame a citizen . Even after he was here n settled into a somewhat normal life again he was always worried about how safe it was day to day . The trauma he lived thru with his family will probably never leave him.
