Why is no one talking about the fact that Hunter is Pinocchio? He was a clone, so basically not a “real” witch (he had red eyes and couldn’t do magic) but after he d!ed and came back to life his eyes changed colors and he had Flapjacks magic 🪄 … Flapjack made him a real boy

Everything about hunter is just so... well, golden. I love that pretty much every scene he is in has some sort of storytelling about his deeper lore, like flapjack calling him Caleb while trying to come up with a fake name, his face in the glass at 10:56 looking as if its behind bars, I mean I could go on and on but there is always _something_ bigger being told around him for most of his screentime. I really wish we got more of him in the finale, seeing as hes pretty much the real protagonist... or maybe thats just my bias for him, lol

The thing about Hunter is that he was never really evil. He was just misguided. He saw Belos as the closest thing he ever had to a father. He looked up to him despite being abused. He was raised to see him as being unable to do wrong. Going out and friends, and caring for Flapjack were a couple of the things that helped him mature as a person. He didn't even realize he was being abused because he was so accustomed to it. He didn't understand why a lot of the requirements of the Emperor's coven didn't seem appealing because he grew up with it.
It took me rewatching season 2 twice to realize that we're actually told about the grimwalker ingredients BEFORE we even get to hollow mind. Just...knowing that was most likely the reason why Hunter was sent after the selkidomas..why the scouts wanted the golderstones, why the palstrom wood was over harvested. Man....I just I wanted hug the poor kid.
So, in the end, the Journey would have been way shorter, if they just ditched Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing?
Fortunately, there was a notable lack of trials and demons in this version of the journey. I think Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing helped a lot with that in the book. This video was also missing Bai Long Ma.
