Do you remember all the songs you used in this video? Was one of my favorite VAW cruise videos. Sad to see the music gone

What is the Pilot doing with his left thumb at 1:36 forward. There is some sort of thumb wheel he keeps doing micro adjustments to. Is that the trim tabs or aileron control? He continues to use his left thumb to make continuous micro adjustments, I am guess to keep the aircraft in level flight? He continues throughout just about the entire video making minor adjustments. Very interesting video seeing what these pilots/co-pilots do in flight while transporting people to and from the aircraft carriers. I wonder what they do on the smaller battle ships and cruisers when they need to ferry a person back to shore for whatever reason. I guess those ships would use helicopters to ferry those troops to and from if necessary. Then again, the small boats can dock around the world whereas an aircraft carrier cannot. Sort of like a cruise ship. Too big to get into most ports so they have to ferry their troops to and from to get to shore. I wonder if people on leave on an aircraft carrier can be ferried back to shore to and from so those troops can go back home or wherever when they are on leave? I would think so unless they are on combat deployment somewhere around the globe which they probably can't take any leave anyway.

Constant trim. Can't this Hawkeye fly straight and level?

Thats the only ship with the new Magnetic Catapult, I hear not a dependable as the steam powered because takes twice as long to hook up the planes and can become inoperable if they get too wet from wave coming over the deck. I also heard that the ammo storage is located right under the tower. That sounds effed up in a wartime situation to me. Anybody here know about any of this?

Quick question does the E-2 get sluggish or I should say does it have a higher landing speed due to the dome effecting the elevator, I just built a rc version of this plane and it flys amazing but when I come in to land it's like it wants to stall, so I have to come in at a faster speed but then she just wants to fly😅 I have a video up if you wanna check it out thanks.

In response to an earlier comment: I was an enlisted aircrewman in the E2-C with VAW-124 1974 - 1978, 222 traps, many hundreds of hours flight time. Actually the ONLY in-flight exit is the main entrance door midway up the fuselage on the port side. The concept was that the three of us in back would be the first out, then the right seat up front and if possible the left seat. Hatches above the cockpit seats are not for in-flight exits and the hatch above the head of the guy farthest aft in the back-end would not be used to exit in flight. The idea was it could be used in the event of ditching in the water, but we mainly used it to access the radome or other equipment for maintenance…while on the deck.

I was in the VAW-113 Black Eagles as an AE from late 70's-early 80's. My squadron went on 2 Westpacs aboard CV-43 USS Coral Sea. We were stationed at NAS Miramar, San Diego. We shared a hangar with RVAW-110, and the next hangar over was the Top Gun school, lol! The movie came out shortly after I got out. F18's were just coming out. E2-C's were being designed and built for the first time too. We flew E2-B's back then. I worked on the navigation systems, the AN/ASN 36 inertial navigation system, AHRS, and magnetic compass, the flight computer, navigation computer, all the instruments, sensors, anything with 🙄"One Wire" to it, lol (except for the main computer,[64k of memory, each 8k ram card was bigger than a video cassette tape case] radar, radio, the scopes and some gear and buttons in back and some security and electronic ID equipment, IFF and stuff like that, which the AT's took care of), were ours. We electricians took care of all the lights, electrohydraulic systems, flight instruments, as well and what we're most famous for... pulling the plug out of the aircraft on cue. 🤘lol. l also helped hand wash a lot of E-2-B's, lol, well... just our four planes several times over. FOD walkdowns every day, lol.
