In this video we will go over my solution for carrying a chainsaw on your dirt bike using the Bill Dart mount. This mount is affordable, super simple, very strong and has the least impact on handling. A highlight of a supercool lighting solution in the form of the RAD lights by Motominded.

Dirt ingestion on a KTM 350 EXCF while in Baja, resulted in damage to the intake valves and compression ring sticking in the ring land of the piston.
Does your KTM/Husqvarna TPi leak 2 stroke oil? Good idea to check this part on your TPi!

In this video I show a potential failure part on your TPi KTM/Husqvarna 250 and 300. A customer's bike came in with an oil leak from under the reservoir. It turned out to be the angled rubber joint coupling the oil injection pump to the oil tank. I highlight the repair procedure in the video. Sorry for the poor filming near the end. It's hard sometimes to film with one hand :)

    How does the power input go into that fuse box from the Taco relay kit?

      Thanks for reaching out. The outlet power and ground from the Taco relay has one wire for the ground which I extended near the relay creating three small gauge (20 or 18 gauge) wires for each accessory device. I did the same for the power into the fuse block. I used a butt connector designed for one end accepting a larger wire and then heat shrink protected the non insulated connector. You can find these connectors at some auto parts store, or I get mine from Waytek wire.     How technical can you go on this bike on single track mountain trails?

      I completed the Tour of Idaho on this bike in 2022 which consists of miles of single track trails with some being technical. Now I will tell you it is not a hard enduro bike with how I have it set up. Could it be, yes but there are much better bikes for super technical trails. When it gets gnarly I take my 300 2T.     Did you have any issues with clearance and getting the Oetiker tool up to tighten the clamp?

      Its tight getting the pliers up in there, but as long as the pliers have the crimping ability on the side of the jaws, you can get them in there. It helps if you even remove the shock and mud flap and engine stays and of course the throttle body moved to the side. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching.

    Do you think a lower horsepower bike like the Honda CRF300L could handle something like this?

      Thank you for reaching out!. The lower horsepower is not the concern in my opinion. It would be the higher gearing of the Honda, availability of accessories and guards, etc. Mostly I think it would take too much work to make it worthy trail machine for the terrain and so many miles. Just my opinion is all.

    When you went with Samco, did you do the thermostat delete? The Samco clamps are so wide that I found it impossible to get the recommended 10mm hose extension. What did you do?

      Yes, I did the delete. It will run too cool if you are riding in a cooler climate, so watch your temps to you run the engine at the temp where the ECU keeps the fueling correct. In hot climates or summer riding, it is no problem. The Samco clamps are wide and if you try and get 10 mm of hose protrusion, it will never work. Just make sure the clamps are square and you have the hoses seated fully on the outlet nipples. Make sure the clamp top edge is below the bulge of the outlet nipple. Samco hoses are a great upgrade for sure, well worth the money. Thank you for watching and replying.

    I put the taco get on my 22 500 and holy crap the bike is soooo much better now. Fast, responsive, smooth, power everywhere, a hill climbing freak! Best choice I made, maybe was good to have rode the 500 for 1.5 years first stock to get used to it. With the ECU mod now, I can hardly wait to get on the bike, it's like it keeps feeling new to me, that's what's so compelling about that upgrade. Should mention I did the billet end cap with silencer plug. I didn't get an fmf cuz the stock pipe with cap is more rugged for adv stuff I do.

    Do you know if it will fit the 2024 KTMs?

      Yes, it will. If you have an XC without the trip/odometer you won’t need to space it out like I did. There could still be some minor wire relocating involved but the holes are the same on the new chassis. If it’s an EXC or XCw you’ll need to get custom on arranging wires and spacing out the mount.     Looks like enough room for another headlight between the chainsaw base and the fender. On a trip, how much extra chainsaw fuel and bar oil do you carry?

      I’ve seen guys mount a slim LED bar under the saw mount, so it can be done. As far as fuel and bar oil goes, I think it depends on your intentions for the ride and time of year. If it’s early season and you’re only going out for a day ride to “clear trail” and you have intel on a lot of downfall, then I’ll pack a backpack with a qt bottle of fuel and a quart of bar oil. Better yet make it a team effort and have buddies with saws:). If I’m going later in the season and likely not needing to use the saw frequently, I’ll carry a syringe marked in CC’s and I’ve come up with the amount needed of 2T oil and inject it into the saw tank and then siphon out of the bikes fuel tank. I then carry a small bottle of bar oil equivalent to the size or close to the saws bar oil tank. Long explanation I know. Thank you for commenting

    Doing this to a new 2022 250 XC I just bought a few weeks ago from the dealership. Two years must be their life expectancy and I went ahead and bought the NiceCNC one. We'll see how long this one last.

      you are correct, this video was prior to all the TOI changes. I had a chain saw mount and 2 Baja S1's mounted on the handguard mounts. Had to take the dash off as well.

      Not sure what you’re referring to. I have a skid plate on the bike. It’s pretty “full” if you ask me. Worked great in my Idaho 13 day ride and a recent 700 mile Baja trip. AXP for the win. Thanks for your comment.

      That is a great question and well thought out. The Beta has very similar characteristics as the TPi bike, but much more torque imo. Because of the torque and snappy feel of the Beta, it seemed like it equated to less weight feel. Hope this makes sense. If you could ride a TPi and a Beta back to back you would understand. The TPi is really good for sure and can be ridden all day long and not wear you out as it has such a linear powerband as compared. Thank you for watching and commenting.

    I have 6 voyager pros. I run them on dirt bikes, as well as snow bikes. I can tell you for sure this will break. If you don’t protect it with the billet cover any chest impact on the bars, will snap the lower plastic housing which cannot be repaired. I have three broken units in my drawer now from this, you must run the billet cover or you’ll end up replacing it.

      I did not wear either. For day rides I will wear knee guards and a chest protector, but generally that is it. For the TOI, it was just too many miles, day after day, for those things to rub me raw in places....:) and it was a trail ride, not a race. Thanks for watching and reaching out.

      Oh shoot! Take the elbow off (the piece I replaced due to cracking) remove the screen and flush out the tank from the filler downward. Replace the elbow after cleaning the screen and you’ll be good to go! Thank you for the comment

      This was the first Beta I ever owned. Luckily I’m in a position to upgrade bikes every couple years and when the new TBI came out, it peaked my curiosity so I went with it. I’ve always owned KTMs so it made sense. Nothing really wrong with the Beta other than some fit and finish details and it’s a bit more buzzy with vibrations than the orange bikes. Personal preference really.

      Plenty of $$$ for sure, but worth every penny. The bike performed flawlessly for my Tour of Idaho trip last summer. Still have it, adjusted the valves and a few other maintenance needs, but its such a fun bike to ride. Thank you for watching,.

      Tim, I did make a harness, encased in the typical black sheathing you find on many motorcycles. I purchased the wire sheath from Cycle Terminal.com as well as the fuse block parts. In the harness I ran a wire for battery positive for heated grips, a battery positive for the TT and another for the USB. I then ran a single, 16 gauge ground from the ground lead off the Taco Moto Acces. relay. Once this ground wire reached the area behind the headlight mask, I spliced three smaller ground 18 or 20 gauge wires for the three needed grounds for each accessory. I hope this makes sense? You could also make a ground harness, using a chassis bolt in the area of the ignition coil and take off from there for the grounds. Let me know if you need any clarification.

    There is no need for an extra fuse in the circuit, unless you make a terminal block that feeds mulitple items each item can have its own fuse. Much like your main breaker/fuse in you home and then each device/circuit gets its own breaker/fuse. Unless that is what you were trying to say,

      Appreciate your comment. As a matter of fact about 9:10 in my video I reference adding a fuse block for each circuit. It’s best practice to fuse each circuit, just like your house has each room protected by a breaker. Cheers.

    How did you carry and add oil for the saw since it's a 2 stroke and your bike's a 4 stroke.

      Thanks for watching. I carried bar oil and 2T oil in small, Nalgene bottles. I had figured out ahead of time the approximate ratio of oil per tank of fuel in the saw. Used a small syringe to measure and inject the oil directly into the saw tank. Luckily I didn’t end up needing anymore 2T oil than I carried. I did end up grabbing more bar oil in a town as I ran out. Hope this helps.

    I haven't had any issues with the plastic mount for the voyager pro, yet. If you are wanting the cage for the voyager pro, Nicecnc makes one that identical to the original for way less.

      They are Heat Demon: slavensracing.com/shop/heat-demon-grip-heatershand-warmers-by-symtec/ You will not be able to install these under the ODI lock on grips.       Rolled into the motel or ABnB so late I just went to bed. Never worried about it to be honest. I guess you could cable lock it to a post or something but really, don’t sweat it.
