Man… I miss Kobe. And obviously not in the same way but I miss the… idk the right word so I’ll just say “Orlando” Dwight Howard. I played against him in HS and it was literally like a grown ass man playing against a 12 year old rec team when it came to him specifically, and I played for a team that was ranked in the top 3 of the biggest conference (8A, idk how it works in other states but here it’s based on the schools number of students so a small private school would be a 1-2A and so on, with the thought being that the more student body you have to pull from the better players you’re going to have a chance of to make up your team) throughout the whole season in Florida so it’s not like we were some country bumpkin joke of a team. I live near Orlando and I had season tickets for years and he was legit dominant, the solid best big man in the game for a few years running - just look at his stats the year we went to the finals and lost to the aforementioned Kobe and HIS Lakers. It was like once he left Orlando he was never the same player not to mention it pissed me off because growing up a Magic fan I watched Shaq leave us and a championship caliber team for LA and then 10 years later or so I had to watch Dwight leave for who else than fucking LA. That’s how you know I had and have respect for Kobe as a player because I hate LA more than any team in the league.
