Nice, how you had a sprint after all that is impressive. Mind if I grab this footage and splice it into my video?
Thanks, yeah feel free to use it!
Great video!!!! Good having you out to race with us
Nice of you to wait for them at Pepperdine.
That's awesome. I've cycled there many times and always an enjoyable experience. I wrote about riding in Milan's canals on a blog post - www.escapeartist.com/blog/cycling-tourism-along-milans-canal-navigli-network/ All the best, Alex
Hi I'd like to know what is the best collegiate cycling team in your division or the US.
this should give you a good idea www.usacycling.org/events/2016/omnirrresults2016.php
+Daniel Zitter thanks man, in your opinion which school would you prefer to attend and why?
+Gillan Moses Well for purely cycling then Marian or fort Lewis but Stanford otherwise for school and cycling
You Need to use a SRM and than put your Metrics in. Would be interesting to see Watt Output and Speed :-)Works pretty good with the Garmin Virb Cam....
+Uwe Amrhein Sure, if you want to provide it I'll use it
I see only fancy expensive road bikes...did someone ride a cheap or vintage road bike?
I just hate looking at these guys butts
got that on camera, haha
with really bassy speakers you can hear the heart beat of racers who wear these chest mounted gopros.. its really strange
How did you place? What was your avg. speed and watt output?
+Carter Conaway dropped about half way through, avg speed was 28ish I believe and didn't have power but prob 225-250 avg or so with libby hill and final climb being ~400-450w for me (180lb)
what crank size and cassete size the riders use in that race
Pretty standard gearing, I rode a 53/39 11-28 with 172.5 cranks
thank you for the answer. I not race but i like to ride and i try go fast. I have one old steel road bike i have before 53/39 crank and 9 speeds cassete 12-25. But the 25 is hard in hilly trail i go ride some times. I do one cassete 8 speeds finally 12-30. I cant make 9 speeds. But i not go ride finally i have problems with my fulcrum racing 7 wheels. the innertube blow out the rim tape is moving. But today i tried put new kenda tire on that wheels is say pressure 100psi when i was i put air and i was in the 90 psi the innertube busted in the valve hole. Same happens the same tire yesterday i other bike i have but with matrix wheels. I lose my day for ride i have 3 road bike one TT bike but all need tires innertubes. I feel sale all of my bikes and get one good racing bike i want built my own with parts i have. What racing frame is the best and what wheels is good. I not really want sale my bikes but is hard to keep up with many bikes.
Was this in richmond va
Rylan Flint Yes, it was
dang, lots of S3s. Wish we had beautiful bike lanes like these
This video shows everything I love about group rides. I feel like a nerd saying I've watched it all the way through two times, but it does a perfect job of capturing the dream-like, floaty feeling that I get in good group rides. I'm only truly content when I'm on my bikes.
Are you allowed to use a tt bike? What about mag wheels
It's not really a cycling ideology, just how they fit on the bike. Long legs = tall saddle. I have pretty short legs so mine is on the shorter side
+Daniel Zitter Hey sir, can I ask u something? what r some fast hybrids for around $250-$500?
I'd check out the Orbea MX series, the Specialized Sirrus series, and the Cannondale Quick series
***** I was thinking about Cannondale quick series but they are hard to get and some people are saying they start falling apart after a year.
I used to have one a couple years ago, just depends on which build level you get and keeping up with maintenance. I personally think the Orbea is the best looking of the bunch
What university were you from Daniel Zitter?
Samantha J University of California San Diego
My friend Connor Benton, Cal St Berkeley also did this race, 42nd overall!
yeah Connor is a good friend of mine! raced with him a bunch
LOL uhhhhh that's UC Berkeley.
Strong ride.
DZ, how many miles was each lap? That course looks fun!
7 laps of 9.7 miles each. it was a fun course, but brutal
Smooth riding coupled with great music selection. Lovin' it! Great job.
sweet vid. what is the first track?
thanks, Rameses B - Memoirs (Macca Remix)
Watched from beginning to end. Great vid
I'm digging the music choice. Thanks for sharing.
I see a lot of people coasting. Is it really that much easier in a peleton? Like over this 80 miles what would you average solo? Like 24+??
yes, huge difference. drafting and sitting in plays a significant difference.
+Jason Wuertz It can be 20-30% easier when you're behind someone without all that wind resistance... in fact riding along highways sometimes trucks driving by actually pull me forward, the trailer creating an area of low pressure which pulls you toward it
+Alex Kablack HEY BIKE EXPERTS! What is a good hybrid that is fast around 200-500 dollars? Thank u I love u, k bye.
javon player I would buy used if you can find one, you'll get a $1000 bike half off, go for a decent quality brand, Specialized, Trek, Cannondale, Raleigh, etc. and the bike will likely already have very good components which will last you some time. If you've got $300+ check out a website called BikesDirect, I've not used them but have heard good things. They sell kind of no-name bikes but with good components. They have a bit of a selection. The exact type of components you get depends a lot on where you live, what kind of weather you will be riding in, how tall you are, your fitness level, so I can't really suggest a particular bike but here is their list: www.bikesdirect.com/products/hybrid_bikes.htm I would however again suggest going used, you can find a very high quality bike taken care of well in most cases for $300-500 on websites such as craigslist
***** What category of bikes am I look for?
What are the qualifications to make it to Collegiate National Championship? I'd like to make it there in a year or two
Needs music. Some of us are on our trainers.
haha, sorry. for my new videos i'll add some music in
If you're inside play your own music.
It's better without the music actually. It's raw and you feel the intensity.
That's a thought. I can always get my own music. :)
How fast was this race? I'm applying for a cycling scholarship to some College's over in the states and i guess this is the sort of thing i would be doing
The road race was 80 miles and was approx 3 hours (winner was at 2:57 and I finished 71/168 at 3:04). The pack was altogether until the big climb and then it shattered, on the 3 laps around the reservoir before the descent/climb we were going around 28-30. For the crit, we averaged 28 for 1:15 (I got crashed out with 2 laps to go, the last 2 laps were probably 30+) this is my friend's strava file from the race app.strava.com/activities/52691419 (didn't have my garmin) and he finished a couple places ahead of me
***** That's a good distance for a race. In the UK the longest race i've ever done was 50 miles. Congratulations on finishing the race. Which College do you study at?
James Marsden I study at the University of California San Diego, currently in my 4th and last year hoping to go to nationals again this year in Richmond, Virginia
Forgive my ignorance but what are the average speeds in these things.
well the crit averaged 28ish for 1:15, and we completed the 80 mile road race in 3 hours (winner finished in 2:57, and I finished in 3:04). for the first 3 laps around the reservoir it was 30-32ish mph i think. it was all together until the big climb then the field shattered
cool, thanks
Great video!!
beast mode engaged at 1540
Nice miss Dan.
It was great watching you hop onto that wheel though, you just slipped into the slot that opened up.
yeah, I followed cal poly and thought it was the last lap but we had one more =/ wound up 5th instead of 2nd. and yeah wolf, it's about finding that sweet spot, but I tend to shift more to get a feel for the adjacent gears, but you do have to shift a lot in general
The more I watch race videos the more I realize you guys shift gears A LOT.
ZITTER!!!! NO!!!! You were playing with my emotions there, I thought you had second
haha, i had the gopro mounted upside down but im flipping the video now
Move to Australia recently?
