What I say before EVERY ceremony (well...some variation of this)

This is by far the MOST requested topic I've had officiants ask me about! Well, here it is - the announcement I make before EVERY ceremony. My VIBE SETTING ANNOUNCEMENT! I was put onto this by another officiant in Australia (he's a legend) then I added my own spin on it to match my personality and what I felt was relevant. I do this announcement solo at the beginning of every ceremony because i...

I feel very fortunate and grateful to have found you on internet, I will be starting to officiate weddings in the next few months and wanted to ask you what wireless mic and pa system you use and how loud in watts eg 20w? thanks in advance.

      Hey Kris! Thanks for following along here!! I've been using a Bose S1 Pro for the past 6 years with a Sennheiser AVX-835 wireless mic + Sennheiser ME2 AVX belt pack (think Ted Talk style) for ceremonies. I always use the wireless mic outdoors and for vows, but a combo of the belt pack (for me) + the wireless mic (for vows) if it's indoors since the belt pack is a bit less powerful than the wireless mic, so not as awesome outdoors. Power wise, I'm not really sure I know the answer to that haha But if there's anything else I can help out with, reach out anytime (@heyjeffmaeck on Instagram!)

    Thank you! You're a natural bro! I'm trying to decide on the attire and I'd love your opinion. What do you think of the double breasted black tuxedo from Spier & Mackay? It's a black tie wedding and I'm officiating😊 Thanks!

    • @heyjeffmaeck
      @heyjeffmaeck Před 4 měsíci

      Dude I'm so happy these are helpful! Very funny timing about the double breasted jacket. I actually just went to get fitted for a double breasted suit at my local place after meeting a slick Montreal DJ who killllled it in one. Here's what my suit guy said: he said "because I like to walk around while I perform a ceremony and am a bit more dynamic with movements, it wouldn't be an awesome choice (for me) because you have to keep it buttoned up the entire time (my jackets are almost always unbuttoned, and they're not designed to be unbuttoned.)" So, take that for what's worth haha the look is a 10/10, a double breasted tux like the one you mentioned would be a bit too formal for the majority of the weddings in my area (I was looking at a double breasted suit), so just keep in mind the type of weddings you're performing. You'll look like a hero in it guaranteed, but if everyone else is wearing suits, you'll stand out quite a bit. If all your weddings are black tie/ultra formal, then do it up for sure because it's such a cool look!

    Jeff thank you for making this video it is so helpful and inspiring! I just have a question regarding the declaration of intent. Did I miss it or it wasn't included in there . • @heyjeffmaeck
      @heyjeffmaeck Před 5 měsíci

      Great question! I know a lot of people like to talk about the significance of the ring, but instead I ask them the Declaration of Intent/"I do" question at that point (instead of saying something like, "the rings are a circle, and like a circle..."). In the example above, Mike has Becca's ring, and I'd look at Mike and ask, "Mike, do you take Becca to be your wife? Do you promise to..." and looking at her, he would answer, "I do" and then place the ring on her finger. Turning to Becca, who has Mike's ring, I'd ask her a similar question, before she placed the ring on Mike's finger. Sorry that wasn't clear above, hope that helps :)

    Jeff, can they kiss before signing or it is not allowed

    • @heyjeffmaeck
      @heyjeffmaeck Před 7 měsíci

      Hi hi! They can definitely kiss before the signing :) My preference, from a flow standpoint, is to keep all the excitement for the very end. In the guest's eyes, the kiss is always the climax, and for me, it felt weird ramping up all that energy only to tell guests to chill out while we signed the Marriage Licence, then trying to ramp up the energy again for the end. I like the flow of them signing, being declared married, kissing (followed by lots of applause!) and then me presenting them to their guests, straight into the recessional. It works really well for how I structure ceremonies, but I'd say go with what feels right :)

      Thanks!! And great question! If a couple was doing that, I'd typically add it immediately after the signing. It's a natural break in the ceremony (we're already not standing at the front), and it doesn't disrupt the flow of the ceremony by having us leave the front a second time. Before we sign the marriage licence, I'd tell everyone what we're going to do though. Just a, "hey, we're going to get to the best part in just a second, I promise, but before we do we're going to sign the marriage licence. While we're signing the licence, we're also going to _____. This was important to _____ and _____ because....." Something along those lines. Hope that helps!
