You are the best ever Best of luck Bro.
Awesome job on the bus and thank you for all the content, who do you have your insurance through, and have you had problems getting or keeping it? We were planning a build on a Prevost but have had a hang up getting the insurance part settled. THANKS!!!
Pls pin never been pinned
Will this welder work with 1/2” PVC?
Brilliant
Howdy. I found that gun you linked to, and i see where you can order weld rods. Any idea if you can use material from the product as weld material? I have some products that have a custom beige color and would like to use some scraps to try and color match more. Curious if you've ever tried that before
I have one still in the box had it for months
Can I just use one .030 feeler gauge under the adjuster stud and nut vs. a feeler gauge under both? Love this channel!
Never mind I realized since the bridge does not pivot my suggestion above would not work.
👍👍👍
Have you thought about starting a little business? You could sell LOTS of these!
First time Detroit owner 8/71 and probably a stupid question but I have to ask. You mention the valve is adjusted at the nut and pin on the opposites side of the valve or pushrod, but what is the adjusting nut located directly over the valve stem used for? I am used to adjusting clearance over the valve and I don't want to screw this up if you know what I mean. Thanks again, really learn a lot through your channel. Also where do you recommend baring the engine over at?
When importing from the USA to Canada do you use the regular border crossing or the commercial border crossing?
j ai un soucis avec ma serrure . la porter ne s ouvre plus que de l interieur .. je ne sais ouvrir ni avec la clé ds la serrure ni avec la cle a distance . est ce le barillet de foutu, merci de m aiguiller
I love how you kept it relatively simple!
Thank you.
That's so badass
Thank you.
60 series Detroits are in my opinion the best engines Detroit made
Not the worst that’s for sure
@@LacroixCruiser yup
On your sprayer..what size coupler did you use?
1/4 inch
You had another video priming a Thomas bus using the same process, bus the 1/4 was too small. I had a skoolie nomad tell me it was a Devon hydraulic coupler. I ordered a 7 16, but I'm not sure if that will work. I have a 04 thomas with a Mercedes 906 rear engine
Thank you so much for this video, and planning on making one myself. Where did you buy the steel pipe that connects to your current exhaust pipe? Also, what did you use for the angle brackets to connect the steel pipe to the upper smoke stack portions? Checked at Home Depot today but couldn't find it there. For the 3" smoke stack portions, I was wondering if I would be able to release the connection point to store them flatter when not in use since I have a travel trailer with limited storage space.
The lower pipe I had bent at a muffler shop. They are flat aluminum bar
Can the parameters be set for lifepo4 or only lead
Yes we have lifep04 batteries
Do the torque specs apply to 6v53? And the Techniques you used?
Yes, but check with your manual for torque settings
I'm waiting on the fusion of two alloys by electrolysis aka welding.
Fusion of 2 plastics is all you will see here
!!! 🤣
🙏🏻
60 series
Yes
What advantages it have by starting on 2 cyl , is starter motors inadequate As two cylinders reduces the probability of firing in cylinder
No idea
Do you also have to clean the welding rod?
No
Must be a Series 60, i was expecting a grumpy 2-stroke. Still sounds good, good engine too.
Yes
Nice.
Thanks!
Great video. I'm looking to diagnose what sounds like injector knock by shorting out the injectors one by one and listening to any change in engine sound and I'm wondering if you have any advice on the best way to hold the plunger down without running the risk of causing damage to the injectors or rocker arms..
Unfortunately not
Main ek kam karna chahta hun main Bihar se hun main kam karta hun kya Mera job lag sakta hai
Thank you.
is it just me or does this sound like a 12v cummins at idle
It’s a series 60 Detroit
It has been 3 years more or less,, how have these weld help up ?
Perfect
Any idea on a part number or application for the relocation console for the transmission shifter?
I bought it used
I have been pondering why the previous owner painted the spray foam on the ceiling black - if you were asking for viewers wild speculations on the matter, mine would be that the ceiling treatment was going to be wood slats with small spaces (3mm) between the boards and they didn’t want to see the yellow foam so they painted it black
Possible
Given what you’ve found so far, I’m surprised you don’t want to get a peak at what is under the foam insulation, can you trust what is under there? Or is it the case that you have poked and prodded enough other areas that you are confident you would have found anything needing repair?
Where there was foam it seemed fine
So sorry to hear this - I feel for Sylvie, such a tragic way to lose a parent
Thank you.
Sylvie ❤❤ very impressed, I only speak one language poorly so I’m extremely impressed! Really enjoying your channel !
Thank you.
Those windows looked like they weren’t held in by much - were you tempted to remove and re-seat the windows you weren’t moving just to make sure they were installed correctly?
Stay tuned
What did you use to take care of the roof. Mine has the original material. Not sure what to use on it?
DIY Detail Rinse Less Wash
Once the misfires & rattling stopped and those 6 cylinders started popping together , it immediately transformed into a sweet music to my hears. Gosh I could listen this engine run at idle for hours ! I just love that big ol' diesel truck sound, these low RPMs, mechanical injectors noises, puffs of smokes outta the exhaust, raw power, damn Tesla drivers r really missing something.
Agreed
Well I installed a new fuel pump in a series 60, checked both filters which were full. Would not start and i dont like starter fluid so I did exactly what you said, went to home depot and grabbed a handful of fittings, got a one gallon weed sprayer for 12 bucks and installed it. Worked like a charm instantly. Thank you very much. This is pretty equivalent to the device sold under the Detroit name for $500. Awesome.
Thank you.
Taking advise from someone running ironman tires is like taking financial advise from a gambler. You'll never know when you get burned but will most likely get burned
We purchased them during the height of Covid, it was this or nothing
I know this is a two year old vid from when I'm commenting, but this thing is amazingly built!
Thank you.
Excellent video, but the flamin music(noise) is a nuisance, cannot hear your verbal directions unfortunately 🤷♂️
Sorry about that
Diesels, the workmen of the mechanical world. Love them.
True
Why 2 then 4 then 6? Is that just the character of this particular engine or all Detroits when cold?
This model
Thank you! One of the best instruction videos I have seen. 👍🏻
Glad it was helpful!
That engine must be quite worn out. Befor I went to work for GM testing Detroit's for compliance with EPA emission standards, I saw them in Awry Bakery trucks. Back then they had an ether "pellet" to use on cold days. Later I saw Cummins 250's that had a can of ether mounted right on the engine for cold starts. I can tell you that if this was a normal starting 6/71 when I was testing, it would not be certified for sale. But, I am a purist at heart, that is not pollution, it's unburned Diesel fuel and maybe engine oil, not the same as a gasoline Hydro Carbon, Co or Nox emission at all. Most of it is particulate and it falls out of the air to the ground. I personally would keep using it if it clears up after it gets hot hot hot, and I'd use starting fluid and maybe even propane to get it up and running on cold days. But, that sound!!! Somewhere on youtube there are two trucks that someone recorded as they drove by, one is a 4 cycle and the other a Detroit 2 cycle. There is no comparison in sound, the 4 cycles sound like Helicopter flying by with it's chop chop chop, then comes the Detroit, M M M M M M M. It's really amazing when you hear them one after the other like in that video. I'll take the Detroit anytime and twice on Sunday over the 4 cycle chop chop chop, even if it did smoke. But, I tested them against a dyno for emission certification, so I have a special place for that sound in my heart. Thanks GM for allowing me to run your awesome prestigious Detroit's at the Milford Proving Ground Vehicle Emission Laboratory VEL, bldg. 31, it was a blast and I'll never forget it. ben/ michigan
It’s programed to start this way, this is a series 60 4 stroke, but a 2 stroke has an unforgettable music at 2000 rpm
I’m going to be honest, every time someone brings up the topic of living in a bus, I imagine a bus that’s all cramped and older. This is bus that I would totally live in! How much did it cost?
No idea
I80 in Wyoming? Maybe nebraska
