They should check out the system in Erie, Pennsylvania. I think it's still called the rad-o-light system. When a light will be turning green for an emergency vehicle, there will be a light flashing by the traffic lights to let the drivers know that there are emergency vehicles coming and to be watchful for them to have enought time to get out of their way.

My late Husband was a 'backstep' or 'tailboarder' from time to time. He's also one of the reasons that firefighters don't ride the backstep anymore. They were on the way to a call. Civilian driver wasn't paying attention. Truck swerved to avoid the driver and jumped a ditch. Hubs ended up with a broken wrist (thank goodness as it could have been worse).

At last, we could program this controller as a NTCIP style coordination system and use it with Cubic Trafficware SCOUT system.

Already done in the Italian Job.🙂

Getting to calls quickly is not a concern for "first responders". Getting onto bed with other men's wives at the station is the only consideration the cowards have. Looking at you; Edgerton, WI cowards.

In addition to this system, I think that cars should have standard safety equipment installed in their cars that have a 4-way receiver on the top of the car to this system as well, that alerts the driver via a light and sound (or voice) that an emergency response vehicle is approaching from the direction it is coming from. Then people can manuver out of the way

If someone has a large enough infrared transmitter they can transmit a particular frequency to trick traffic lights into thinking they are an emergency vehicle and change traffic lights. Unless there are protections built in now?

hasnt this been around for awhile? i cant figure out if this is just a brand for a sensor or if theyre saying they invented it but most the traffic lights in my state have had sensors on them for the 7 years ive been driving, all you gotta do is flicker your brights a few times and it changes
