Probably remembered for the strange size of the word Christmas compared to the head. As you can see from the position of the lettering Noddy was not particular when he moved around. The closest we have to the old school is Hazel who still has that smooth, relaxed, laid back, authoritative presenting style. That was when the BBC held the exclusive live TV rights to the Olympics and winter Olympics for the UK. Since Tokyo 2020 Discovery networks owns the European live rights, giving rise to blanket streaming coverage on discovery+ and wall-to-wall on Eurosport channels. The BBC only has what it has because UK law (“the crown jewels of sport”) requires a free-to-air broadcaster to have significant live rights to the Olympics and winter Olympics. The BBC only has a certain number of hours it can show live, but I believe it has an unlimited highlights capability.

My favorite is “Barcelona” as played out by the illuminated fountain which is iconic to Barcelona and I saw it in 1973 some nineteen years before. They (The Council) could then operate it for one hour on three nights each week as it was too expensive. By the time the games came around the council had collected TV money from the Games and could operate it for four hours every night. The song “Barcelona” was written as part of an opera called “Exercises in Free Love”; the opera was never completed and was performed by Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Cabal.

They seem to use a lot of commercial stuff in recent years if only to put an obstacle to stop it going on CZcams.
