Yes do it! It looks much better than the whole car with peeling clear coat. I can see some spots of difference in the color but it’s not decay anymore

Very true but I have not painted metallic yet. Only flat. So I’m still be doing this again someday. But it’s taught me a little about clear coat. I’ve done two cars w single stage paint. The clear coat 2 stage is the only way to go

@Motorhead_Mark. Depending on budget, 2k is definitely the way to go. Good thing about painting a roof is that few will ever notice the imperfections in your technic. 🤭Practice makes perfect. ✌😊

@JohnDoe-md2sb yes it does. Better not perfect was the theme here. When I do metallic it will be candy apple green with orange flames on something. I’ll learn everything with that😀

Yes it really bothered me the bleeder was on the bottom with their recommended video. Doesn’t air rise???

@@Motorhead_Mark I agree, break calipers require the bleeder to be on top to properly bleed. We’re gonna pull the trans and flip it like you did. We tried flipping the lines but I’m not sure if the inlet is significantly different then the bleeder.

Yes just do it like I showed. Mine works perfectly. Bleeding was tricky. I have a video. But ended up putting the remote bleeder in a cup and pumping vigorously.

Welll honestly I just want it to sound cool idling. I have ls v8 cars for speed . The bottom end only has 3 main caps so I’m gonna be comfortable at 4K. I don’t know anyone personally with a dyno so it’s not it the plan. Thanks for commenting!

Try this. Be sure you have a Morse tapper 2 type. There should be a nut at the top with the pulleys above the original chuck

Thanks! The machine came with the x y table but I did add the lathe head. Yea the wood bolted to the table is probably causing groans

"real" machinists and engineer are very much onboard with "appropriate accuracy" AKA "working to tolerance" AKA don't waste time being more precise than you need to be. Good enough is good enough, and cheaper than better.

Thanks for commenting. I’ve been doing it 6 months. Sometimes I’m brilliant sometimes I burn holes. But for body panels I’m completely convinced tig is the only way. I’m welding up my roadster body right now and I understand what you’re saying. I’ve been using my knee. Keep at it. Use a MiG where you need too. Hang in there 😀

@@Motorhead_Mark It sure is hard getting used to. I have burnt my share of holes. I will never get good at it if I don't keep using it.

I ended up selling this engine since at the time I had nothing to put it in. But that was a mistake since it came out of Pete Hendersons garage. Google horse vs hot rod

@@1slow_gto the biggest thing is the gen 3 to gen 4. It needs a gen 4 reluctor wheel on the crankshaft to run the computer

Is the process for changing out the reluctor wheel burdening or was it not all that complicated

@1slow_gto I haven’t done it yet. Looks pretty tricky. I think there is information online about the process.

The point is to not have it pop up and down when you just barely touch it with the tip of your finger. I’ll skim it with body filler before painting. But if that’s not fixed the paint will not last long. Thanks for commenting

I’ve watched videos on welding iron, seems pretty tricky. Yes heating it up and slow cooling with a blanket oven or bbq. Nickel stick welding rods….

It’s on my engine stand now. All re ringed an valves lapped. New reground cam and a coat of red paint. I have newer videos with electronic ignition and it was running awesome. Building a car for it too, see my last short with the sheet metal and wood floor

There are cheap flat aluminum adapters on eBay. They bolt on the ls block then you bolt the old type to those.

Good information, I’ve been driving my ls nova with the ar5 for months now. 7k in first at just about every light. It’s holding up so far

@user-david6265 no it’s a 6.0 w an automatic. But my nova has a manual and I like that better. So someday I’ll put a manual in my chevelle
