I have been struggling with understanding the technique in other videos. However, after watching your video I finally get it! Thank you! Great explanation!
Thanks for your kind words.
Thanks for your kind words.
thank you so much!! I've been looking for a meshwork design for hours, I'm a beginner so I tried several designs and got so frustrated that I almost gave up. This is the first design I could actually follow!! thank you for explaining it so slowly and simply!
Thanks.I am glad to be of help.
I made one just like it in 1969. I love the simple pattern for beginners. This was my favorite shawl
I know this technique as "portuguese knitting". Thank you.
Probably it's a common technique in many countries. This is the way we are taught by our grandmothers.
Beautiful work❤
Very nice. Great explanation. Love it!
Thanks.
You are the Maria Callas of knitting! ❤
these calculations work for adult size???
Hi, these calculations are for a toddler, with the specific type of yarn and needles size. Please watch the video on how we get body measurements and then calculate the stitches you need. Or use a size chart.
Thank you. I’ll check later.
Thank you. This is the first video i found, that shows clearly what happens after the flip with the thumb
Thanks so much. I am glad I have been of help
Beautiful mesh shawl. Your instructions are very easy to understand. I love making shawls it's sad that I'm the only one in my family interested in wearing them. I will make this soon. I have 4 other shawls in progress now.
Thank you for a wonderful tutorial. UK

this is exactly what i was looking for! i’ll be using this stitch to create a spring shawl. thank you so much for the tutorial 🥰
Thanks for your kind words. Then you can try the pattern "not just another mesh shawl" which is also quite easy🧶
U didn't explain what are the % of each portion?
You take away eight stitches for the raglan rows. You use one third of your stitches for the front, one third for the back and one third for both of the sleeves (so you divide these stitches by two). Then you take a few stiches from the back part and you add them to the front part (as many as you the number of your short rows). I hope this helps.
Σας ευχαριστω πολυ,
Hello, this is a very useful video, thank you for sharing the calculations. I have a different problem that you had. I need to knit 9 cm from the neck to the armholes, which equals 26 rows. But if I increase every other row by 8 stitches, then after 26 rows I will have 8*26/2 = 104 extra stitches, and that is not enough. I need to have 136 stitches on the body. What should I do? If I continue knitting, the upper part will be too long. Should I increase by more than 8 stitches every other row? This is for a child's sweater.
Hi, what is your gauge and with how many stitches did you start?
@lutionofstitches6615 My gauge is 21x28. I haven't started yet, I'm only planning 😇 I think I should start with the neck having 56 stitches and out of those, 18 are for the front panel, 18 for the back. If I look at the front panel only: I start with 18 stitches, increase the front panel by 2 stitches every second row. I need 9 cm height, which is 26 rows. So, I start from 18 stitches, and 26 rows later I'll have 18+26=44 stitches. Which is not enough, because the body needs to be 60 stitches wide. I don't know where to get the extra 16 stitches. I could knit extra 16 rows and increase every other row, but then the top would be too long.
@@user-uv2hh7xn6h After 26 rows your number of stitches will be 13 ×8= 104 plus your initial 56 stitches. That's too many stitches. If you need 56 stitches for the neck opening and 60 stitches for the body the difference is only 4 stitches. Are you sure about your measurements.Do you need 60 stitches for the chest or is it 60 cm? My next video is for a baby sweater, the neck opening is 52 stitches.I have knitted it bottom up but the calculations are the same.I will upload it in the next few days maybe it'll help you.
@@theevolutionofstitches6615that would be perfect! I'm looking forward to see your video 🎉
I am a knitter of 60 years and am now only just trying different methods of knitting. I have to say that the Greek method is easier than any other, even English throw method I have used for years. Thank you so much for your videos. They are inspiring xx
Thank you for your kind words. I am glad you find my videos useful.
Us there any method to decided how many stitches for each sleeves, fir example: the % of the total collar stitches?
Hi, it's better to use the body measurements and your gauge to decide. If the chest is the 100% the cuff is about 20_25% the upper arm is about 35-40% and the neck opening about 40% . Not all people have the same body so it's better to know the body measurements. If you don't then please follow a size chart.

What size crochet are you using?
Hi, my hook size is 6 mm but it depends on the yarn and your tension. Please check the label of your yarn to see the suggested size.
Really love this! I get it now.. others say its easy and give complicated directions. Cant wait to add your beautiful edges. Thanks so much!
❤
I had forgotten about this method - thanks!!!

Lovely work! It is so peaceful to watch you knit.
Thank you so much!
Hi - could you explain why you divide the 59.4 by 2? And also you say how how you will knit the Raglan rounds without increases…how will you do that?
Hi, you don't really divide, this is to show that you also add increases on every other round so on one round you knit yarn overs and on the next you knit them.

Love this simple pattern! I am a seasoned crochet artist, and I did another mesh pattern before, but I like the closer rows here and you explain it so well.. thanks a lot 💛💛💛
Thanks for your kind words. I think we should not be afraid to adjust a pattern to our personal preference and experiment a bit.
Thank you so much! I have been looking for a tutorial for a sariki! Can you tell me what size thread you use, the type (cotton, acrylic), and the hook size? Also, do you have a video of the tears? Thank you!
Hi The thread is silk made from plants. In Greek it is called mprisimi (μπρισίμι) .The hook size is 16 but it will depend on how tight or loosely you crochet. One of my next tutorials will be on the "tears".
I *love* the shawl you showed at the beginning! Both the yarn and the stitch look beautiful. I'm going to try this with some yarn that has been too frustrating to use with more complicated stitches, so thanks for the clear tutorial! 😊
Thanks for your kind words. This yarn is very delicate and looks beautiful even with the simpler stitch. In Crete we crochet these as wedding favors for the guests.
