Our Wedding Song
Positano Songs - Track 2 - Our Wedding Song
lnk.to/positanosongs
We were married in Nocelle, Italy, a tiny hill town perched above Positano. You feel you have traveled backward in time up there. There are no roads in town, only walking paths that you find after being dropped off down the hill. Strangely quiet and so tranquil after all the crowds and hubbub below. The air is supernaturally clear and the view is incredible.
Susan’s closest friend, Mark, came in from New York City for our wedding. My dear friend Carmine and his wife Pina were the only others at the wedding… except for the Nonnas (The Grandmothers of the town) who always follow the sound of the chapel bells to join in the weddings. We pretty much eloped.

Positano Songs - Track 5 - For Carmine lnk.to/positanosongs To Carmine Pallone, whose friendship makes Positano Italy an infinitely richer place. Many of my happiest memories have Carmine in them. Some of the loudest and longest laughs I’ve had in my life have been with Carmine. Seven years ago, I went to Positano Italy and wrote all of this music that ultimately got tucked away in my back pocket... then with the pandemic slowing so many things down to a crawl, Tom and I got to work and now, FINALLY, we are releasing my new album, Positano Songs! This is a clip from track 07, "The Tyrrhenian Sea" You can pre-save the entire album which comes out on March 4th, 2022 lnk....
Been playing "Nighttime at the Chapel" on loop, such a peaceful song. And I love Positano. All the best!
Such a beautiful song, William. I've been a fan of yours for decades. I have my favorites, and this is one of them. Thank you for bringing wonderful music to us.

Will, we were blessed to have you perform for us on our wedding day. My wife of now 14 years, Maya and I will both always love you for that. Much love to you and yours…what a beautiful piece of music. Congratulations.
Thank you for taking our minds and souls for relaxing journey ❤. I was fortunate enough to see you live in Tarpon Springs Florida in the not so long ago past. Hope one day to see you live again. Rich
I am part of Generation Z, so I am quite young (I was actually in the womb when you won your last Grammy), yet I truly love your music. The story behind your Positano Songs album is absolutely beautiful and I firmly believe that this has been your best work yet. Best wishes for your future. Cheers! ❤️ P.S. I bought Positano Songs for my 83 year old grandmother last Christmas. She absolutely loves it and has listened to it while cruising in the car and relaxing at home. She has played this album at least 10 times already, yet she had never heard any of your music before this. Now, she's cheering you on, too! I must say I love the little book that comes with it...
Again and again, i return to your beautiful music and witness all my worries vanishing. Immense love to you, dear Will 🙌🏻💜

Entrañable...llegando al cielo.
This feels like sitting back all relaxed, without any worries, and looking back at the sweet memories of the past, while sipping on some fine wine. Love this place through this sweet montages. Beautiful masterpiece 🙌🏻💜🌺
Thanks Rachanachar..... you'll have to make the trip some day... let me know when you do and I'll tell you what to see and where to eat :)
Qué música tan deliciosa. Puro amor!!!
Thank You !!! Will
Congratulations! 🎊🍾🎉 You are my favorite guitarist, wish you and your bride the best❤
Thanks very much, Paula... and thanks for including Susan in your message
Thank You, Luis.... I am grateful that you took the time to write... I suspect I'd have to write music whether anyone was listening or not, but I'm blessed with having reached so many lovely people. All my best, Will
So nice to hear and enjoy the sound of your guitar and Charlie's violin together again...as in my favorite song, Climbing in Geometry, it's a masterpiece!! I made a video for it a while back for it, I hope you don't mind. czcams.com/video/Ci03IqiLfE4/video.html
Thank you Will for sharing your gift of music with us. As a young kid I came across your music and felt an instant connection.
Hi Luis.... I'm just curious... how old were you when you found my music. I know that as a young boy, music meant everything to me
@@willackerman-guitarist Hi Will ! I came across your music at the age of 16 through listening to Alex de Grassi. As a guitarist my self I felt a similar style to your style of playing and was wrapped in awe with a region of clouds.
Só wonderful
Thanks so much Jan, James, Kristian and Franco ! Positano is still magical, but like all places over time, it has become so busy over so much of the year that the magic is somewhat less than nearly 40 years ago. That said, I'm sure it would seem like a bit of heaven to go see it. If you go, I'll let you know which restaurants to visit ! All my best, Will
Absolutely beautiful and splendid. Another great master piece
Congratulations, Will! I follow the Positano Diaries on You Tube, well worth a look to experience living on the Amalfi Coast :)
So when are you going to Postiano, Jan ???
@@willackerman-guitarist Been there done that MANY decades ago! Looks a bit crowded these days ..
This song is so touching… Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thanks very much, Kristian ... being with Susan has been the best gift in my life !
This is a wonderful piece as are all of you other pieces! My friend Randy Bernsen, a Jazz guitarist was close with Michael Hedges and its all such a privilege. I hope to be able to stop by in Vermont one of these days! Do you have contact info? Cheers my friend, Jonathan
So beautiful, so quiet... Bravo, Brother❤❤
@@willackerman-guitarist Thank you forever for you and your music.
It was 1984 with Passage and Past Light, living in San Luis Obispo back when it was still a place of some mysteries...your music and those landscapes are forever entwined in my memory.
My god!!! Will Ackermann-since about 30 (!) years you still my hero in NEW AGE-music!!! A handfull CD´s from you at home..love all the brilliant stuff from WIndham Hill Music! (together with NARADA 'round 70 CD's..) Greetings from Brigachtal,Germany
Thanks very much, Bernhard .... I appreciate your taking the time to write ! Will
@@willackerman-guitarist Thanks for your answer! Listen right now my favourite CD from you, "IMAGINARY ROADS"....! Your brilliant acoustic guitar-music-(... and also George Winston's music..!) made my life so much better!! Greetings from Blackforest, Take care, Bernhard
Will, reading your responses to people’s comments makes me so happy because I see that you are as genuine and humble as the music you create. Makes sense, I suppose, that from a beautiful soul comes beautiful sound. Thank you for sharing your gift when inspiration prompts you.
Hi Joe, Thanks for writing. It's not some put-on on my part... I still have this kind of surprisingly clueless response to people actually liking what I do... you'd think that after 45 years, I'd get this through my aging head. Maybe I need to take a page from Mohammad Ali and start my days in the mirror repeating "I am the greatest" over and over again. On second thought, I think not.
Awesome
My musical hero does it again! The new album and this song in particular are just as heartbreakingly good and emotionally honest as anything Will has done. I knew nothing about Will or Windham Hill until a few years ago. I was actually in Windham County, VT on a trip and killing some time on Facebook - my cousin posted his excellent cover of a Michael Hedges song and from there it was off to the races for me. In the subsequent years I’ve been inspired to explore so much of Will’s work and his broader influence- and also felt compelled to start learning fingerstyle guitar for myself. Turns out I had completed my Windham Hill pilgrimage before I even knew I was on it.
Hi Peter, this is a lovely piece of writing in and of itself, but it's kind message is also deeply appreciated. I don't know exactly what transpired to make this album special for me...yes, Positano is Positano and there are lovely memories and dear friends there, but somehow I went deeper into the heart of these pieces than I've experienced in quite some time. Covid ? Isolation ? Who knows. But I'm grateful to you and others for listening to what my heart and mind hoped to connect to people with.
done it again..
Thanks very much, Spencer.
New releases from Will are only slightly more common than sightings of Halley's comet----but no less exciting!!! That's a joke Will------thanks for keeping your MANY fans supplied with the greatest music ever made...
Is that Tim Blixt there?
@@willackerman-guitarist Would you believe me if I said it was Tim Buckley?? Yeah----it's me Will...
Beautiful Song Will, congratulations! I really admire your work and your music is a big influence in my music. Good luck!
Thanks very much !!! If you're ever looking for a studio to record your own music, keep us in mind.
@@willackerman-guitarist I have recorded in my home studio. Currently in Brazil it is very difficult to produce music, especially instrumental music. I have my new cd "Ventos do Sul 2" in the mastering phase, the previous one, "Ventos do Sul" is available on spotify, CZcams and other platforms, I would really like you to listen. I'm a big fan and admirer of your work, since the 90's, when Windham Hill records appeared in Brazil. I would love to meet you in person, who knows, maybe there's a chance. A big hug and looking forward to listening to "Positano Songs"
Loving the album as always Will. Everything you do is just beautiful and perfect. As a fellow musician, you have been a big inspiration.
Hi Michael, I'm not sure "perfect" is utterly accurate, but I can honestly say that I do care deeply about what I record and send out into the world. Thanks for listening.
Isn't it great when a place can evoke such emotion and inspiration, leading to the creation of such a wonderful piece of art? I suspect those songs incrementally grew in your head with every visit to Positano. I hope that with every playing of these songs, the precious memories that helped create them, will come rushing back. Congratulations on an excellent album!
Thanks Glen, It's gotten pretty crazy busy in the last decade or so, but going there in the beginning or end of the season (which seems to longer every year) still offers a lot of the magic of the place I"ve known for a bit more than 4 decades.
I guess a little inspiration goes a long way and a lot of inspiration brings us Positano Songs. I love music like yours that I can feel as well as hear. Great job, Mr. Ackerman!
Thanks very much, Scott. I guess I would go on writing and recording whether anyone was listening or not, but I'm deeply grateful that you are out there listening and caring for what offerings I bring from time to time.
Masterful. Supreme.
Hi Kluane, I went to listen to your work as well.... lovely stuff !
@@willackerman-guitarist Such an honour to hear that coming from a man that is a musical legend to two generations in my home!
Very beautiful - instantly brought good memories to me as I listened ❣️
None of my business, really, but what sort of memories came to you ?

Your music is my Plus One, my Partner, my Significant Other. I Love it so much ❤️
I'm glad that I'm still making music that connects with you, Dawny.
Will Ackerman - the soundtrack to so many thoughts and memories in my life. Will, thank you for releasing yet another album when you could be living off the fat of the land you’ve cultivated. We are all blessed to enjoy your gifts.
Thanks very much, Mike. I've never hurried anything... when I didn't feel that I really had anything to say, I just stayed quiet. Positano Songs is very dear to my heart and I feel very alive musically right now.
Will Ackerman music sounds only like Will Ackerman. An unconventional musician who has had a remarkable journey and who has filled an empty space in my soul.
Very kind of you, Anthony. As the owner and principal producer for Windham Hill Records, you have to understand how intimidating it was to be surrounded by my cousin Alex de Grassi and Michael Hedges... these guitar monsters ! Thankfully I managed to stumble across some good melodies over the years and I'm grateful you've been listening.
Alex is your cousin?!? That’s a strong guitar gene pool…
@@mikehixson9641 Hi Mike, I went to school out East for a few years and Alex and I had kind of lost track of each other after that. Finding that he too had fallen in love with the steel string guitar was kind of amazing... bordering on eerie.
@Will Ackerman- Guitarist Last time I saw you was the last FLOW Carnegie Hall show. I waited to talk to you but then chickened out. I'm a writer by profession but my words are a poor reply to what you've been saying to me through your music for all these years.

Gorgeous. I found you 30+ years ago with "Conferring with the Moon" and have followed along ever since. Your music always relaxes me and I thank you for it. :-) Oh - and congratulations to yourself, Tom, and Jeff on your Grammy nomination for Brothers.
Tom and Jeff are literally my two closest friends on the planet .... the title BROTHERS is utterly accuracy in describing how we see each other as friends and musical collaborators.
Thanks very much, William. Jeff and Tom are my closest friends on the planet and I'm really hoping they can both get a Grammy... and the one I have has always looked a little lonely.
Have loved his music for almost 40 years. So raw and emotional still got it Will
