I purchased the pump and filter months ago for my 98 flhrci and finally have time to install it. Not many videos for there for our year bikes so thank you for posting this. 😎🤙🏼
Is the same in my fatboy Sometimes it take half minute to start the bike
After all the online videos about manual or automatic adjusters I'm gonna go with the manual don't do a lot of hard riding so will probably work for me
@@levialston518 I am currently running the Hayden tensioner with both springs supporting the shoe. It is noticeably better for starting and shifting than the factory automatic adjuster.
Awesome info 👏🏼 love the diagram. I hope mine isn’t going bad. I’m getting ready to change the starter clutch first to see if that’s it. Subbed to ya also.
@@chrismillersrcfamily thank you! I hope your spring pack is ok, but you'll know if you swap the starter clutch and still having issues.
Where did u get extra washer?
@@RobertEmbrey-l7z I bought a used compensator on eBay.

I must be doing something wrong, when I put a pin in the gray wire on the TPS I dont get a reading on my meter at all . I have the switch on but still no reading! I am working on a 1998 HD Ultra Classic Fi.
@@unclejed5342 I have a few questions, what kind of meter are you using? Will it measure down to 1,000th of a volt? Or at least 100th of a volt? Where did you clip the ground wire? You're looking for around 1/4 of a volt DC. 0.275 to be exact.
I switched to the solid sprocket eliminator. It's fine but like you said. Don't chug your motor. I have a build cam tunner and some other work. I keep my rpms up so it's smooth. Now this is on a Milwaukee 8 motor. They are smoother running motors. Also my stock compensator sprocket broke. I'm putting down 118hp 127torc on a 2019 street Bob 107. 24500miles. No problems so far.
Why do people buy these bikes
Mark,I have commented on your videos before. I have a 1998 Road King Classic and my fuel gauge is broken. I have scoured the web with no luck finding one. This is a Longshot...but do you have one that you would be willing to sell? Or could you steer me in a good direction to find one. The part number is 75099-96A. Thank you for any help you could give....in advance.
@@kevintsetse8440 Hello Kevin, it is my understanding that the difference between the A model and B model of the part number is the paint on the gauge, placement of the fuel icon. Check this out and see if a B model will work for you. Damn I thought my Ultra limited was the only bike with a Fire Department Medallion on my Horn . Lmao I guess not. Looks great
My 2008 electra glide 96 did the same thing. loud clacking on take off and starting R&R with a screaming eagle comp like you have there. big difference
I don’t have a noise in my primary since I have a sportster. Harley kept it simple for these bikes and should have done the same for the twin cams and M8’s
Excellent vid for anyone to understand,😊
That extra washer is eating up space that you need, not enough spline surface
@@jackmurphy9371 the number of washers doesn't affect the spline surface used. The bolt compresses the spring pack until it bottoms out. If the bolt can't bottom out, then yes that could be bad.
@@contact4mwy7 oh I see, thanks for the heads up, the extra washer means more exerting tension, the bolt is the key.
Hind sight is 2020 but looking back is there any other tensioner or tensioner brand that you would recommend, or wish you would have used? I ordered a baker attitude adjuster and it was pricy, but I just don’t want to have any problems in the future.
@@markdurham252 i haven't heard anything bad about any of Baker's products. Just follow their instructions and you should be good to go!
To much tension kills out bearings. To much chain play kills out bearings. This is split decision throughout CZcams an forums
Has this worked long term? I have a 2009 super glide fxdc When my bike was hot every “25 or so start ups” my bike was sneezing out the intake. I also started to hear a roar out of primary and opened it up to check everything out, my own auto adjuster had my chain what seemed to be very tight (like 1/4in deflection). I’ve ordered the screaming eagle manual tensioner and set my deflection closer to what you were getting. Hopefully that works.
@@markdurham252 it has worked that way for thousands of miles with no known issues.
Hello. My car gives P2423 code. I have a problem with the cat. I would like to investigate with details about this on my car. Does your device show info about this such as chemical levels in the exhaust gases, oxygen sensors’ data/readings such as their voltage, charts, etc? TY
This is a basic unit, very common, that will show O2 sensor data, fuel trims, and more simple readings. You would have to spend a lot of money on a unit that will go deeper into the exhaust chemical makeup.
@@contact4mwy7 Does it show O2 sensor data/voltage? TY
@@MC-ph7gr yes, in a way. It shows the Lambda value.
Great detailed video.

you didn't finish putting the compensator back on
We'll, I didn't leave it off
@@contact4mwy7 well, did it just slip back on or did you need remove the clutch hub to get the job done like some had to in other videos
@@jimkolarich7052 it will slip back on if the compensator is tilted towards the clutch and pieces slide on one at a time, carefully.
@@contact4mwy7 thanks!
I noticed you didn't loosen the swingarm/rear transmission mount shouldn't everything be loosened and retightened to align everything correctly?
Did you adjust your belt because of the added pressure to it from pulling the engine forward?
I did not.
2001 ultra, not even close to .275. My readings are. 850 and up????
If you followed every step correctly but cannot get a reading of 0.275 there may be a problem with something related to throttle position sensor, if not the sensor itself.
Thanks, once got things good on my end, it went as you showed. Only now it stays high Rev when throttling. New aftermarket sensor.
@@mr.ksinformationstation8590 the idle speed is adjusted by both the Cold set screw and the Hot set screw. One of them may be turned "in" too far. You'll have to try backing them out one at a time to see if the idle begins to slow. If not, put that screw back where it was and try the other one.
Thank you again. You have helped tremendously!
Thanks for the video. Helped my understanding. Was having vertical alignment issues.
First, great video and thank you for making it. Second, where did you get the original information/instructions, you referred to? Thank again from South Mississippi
I found a service manual that detailed the alignment procedure, and picked up some tips online. Glad you liked it, be well!
How long did the head gasket before this last?
I think the factory one lasted 5 or 6 years when I changed it out the first time.
Did it really only have 1400 miles?
Mark, thank you, just started to get the wobble issue and noticed the same rear traking right, so this is going to help me put all back into allignment. hreat instructions
Wow nice troubleshooting! I have same sled with same problem. Hope its the same fix! Great video!
On my 2006 RG the bolt centers tire for belt tensioning. But found offset swing arm bushings that'll do that job inside the swing arm. But everything else you mention was amazing. Why I'm looking into not only the alignment but all the bushings of the swing arm and motor mount because I started getting the death wobble when I didnt have before. Thank you for making easy to get it all straight. Also it matters on tire. Found that there 3, 4 and 6 ply tires. why would there be anything less than 6 for motorcycles tires is scary. So one thing I make sure is 6 ply tires.
This is amazing
Twin cam tensioner problem was not from the springs. It was the chain being unpolished.
Thank you so much this saved me
Thought I’d have to replace this whole cable, I was bummed cause I’d just fixed all of the other broke wires but I’m gonna try this in the morning. I miss music!
Have a Hayden on my Twin Cam 103. Works great but the chirping noise is loud and annoying. Going to remove it for an older manual style tensioner. Love the convenience but it sounds terrible.
I adjusted and adjusted both ways still nothing. I think I have a drain on my battery 😂
i rebuild my carb but when i install it its turn only 1 cylinder after that i removed it and open the mixture by half turn and both of them working but theres A ticking sound from the front cylinder i dont how to sync the carb even the TPS need adjustment idk how :(
I didn't have to adjust synchronize of the carbs on mine, so I don't know what that involves. What is this ticking sound, what is causing it?
Looks spces out to compinsate for the metal expanding under heat because its an air cooled engine
Do you recall the socket size needed for the comp nut? I know the clutch is 1 3/16”.
I don't recall I'm sorry to say. It was a common size though.
No worries at all sir, I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Be well.
Why couldn't you just scribe a mark around the old mount before loosening anything and align the new one according to the marked outline?
You could do that I suppose. I don't know if the outcome would be the same.
Mark,I've reached out to you before about my 1998 harley-davidson Road king classic. It's been running great . Today I went on like a 4 hour ride and near the end of the ride I hit a spot in the highway where they had base asphalt but hadn't put the surface asphalt in yet. I hit this 2" drop going 60 mph. After that the bike started surging and died at the stoplight. I limped home with it and thought about the throttle position sensor. I got to the tps and found one of the screws to the tps was already loose. I did your procedure for the tps . Trying to get to .275 but was getting readings over 1 and then .24. It it possible that the tps is bad?
I wouldn't say it was bad just yet. Maybe when the screw(s) was/were loose it rotated just a bit. They are very sensitive as you may have seen on your multimeter. See if you can get it to 0.275 and try it out. Coat the outer edge of the screw heads with clear fingernail polish to help keep it from loosening on its own.
@@contact4mwy7 Thank you,Mark
What about screw on governor arm?
That regulates what RPM the engine will run at.
@@contact4mwy7 thank you very much, I’ll try it, rpms seem to be slow under load from mower deck,Tecumseh oh160 1973
