This video is fantastic. All this time, I had been trying to do it with parry timing (with frustratingly inconsistent results). But not only does doing just a quick tap immediately before the moment of impact work every time, it feels so much more satisfying (and Sekiro-like)! Game-changer!

Doing a perfect Deflection with the deflecting hardtear provides a 20% damage bonus on your guard counter, and you can stack it 4 times for a total of 80% bonus damage on your next guard counter following a perfect deflection. This means while using the deflecting hardtear you don't have to do a guard counter after each perfect deflection, you can just stack damage until you deflect an attack that lets you do the guard counter safely.

I can't parry to save my life idk why I'm so brain dead when it comes to timing so while this seems easier to land per se my stupid monkey brain will still probably miss it. Sighs. I'll stick to my training wheel great shields...

Good explanation. One info is missing. Normal blocking doesn't have to be timed (in contrast to parrying). I understand that the deflecting hardtear allows you to block on hit, but now it is also timed. How does the time you have compare to the time for parrying? In other words: How many milliseconds before the hit do you have to push the block button? (Probably it is still easier to see when you are hit (blocking) instead of seeing when the forward move of the attacking hand happens (parrying).

if you want to deflect an attack that does multiple hits quickly, do you have to press block on every attack or just the first hit then hold for the rest?

My thing is this I am at 39 vigor level 110 with four shadow tree fragments levels trying to kill ranalla with a mage build. Now this is my second DLC run and I'm trying to do it on my own and honestly, I am making it harder on myself so I went and got that tear. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to make it work with her. I think the best way is encounter her last attack. I don't know unless someone else can find a better way.

I've been through many Switch Oleds because of this issue and other issues as well. I believe all of them suffer from the green tint however some are worse than others. For example I had both the Zelda and Mario Red editions and for some reason it was worse on them whereas the White and Red & Blue versions I had weren't as bad so I settled for the Red & Blue one. Perhaps the issue is random rather than on specific models.
