Replacing A Citroen Cactus Reversing Camera

A walk through (after the job was done) of replacing the reversing camera on a 2016 Citroen Cactus Flair Edition. Please excuse the quality. I'm doing this to help others not suffer the same drama I did trying to find out how to replace it. I don't sell anything and I'm not a car maintenance guy. I'm just paying it forwards. Hope it helps.

Thanks mate for doing this, I had a previous cactus that had a camera then my wife had an accident so the car was written off, and we bought another one but sadly the new one didn't have the camera, so I am looking to install a camera myself, which is a pain. lol Once again, Thanks for doing this, and unselfishly took the time to make this video.

Perfect video, thank you! I am not a car guy by any means but after this video, I thought I can do this. The lens steamed up inside the camera of my Cactus from 2015. The car is nearly 9 years old. Got multiple prices from new camera being £250 and some salvage yards asked as for £109. I got a second hand camera from a salvage yard from a 2016 Cactus for £60 including p&p. Tools from Amazon for £17. I did break two retaining clips (whoops) but I found 10 for £4.30. All together it cost me £81.30 plus an hour and a half of doing everything step by step. Thank you for saving me time, money and being an all around cool dude. One thing I wanted to add, was the details for the camera. Again from my experience details were for 2015-2016 model. ( I believe 2014-2017 they used the same camera but make sure to check with whoever you purchase the camera from) P/N: 9812585580 Supplier code: 99846C You might be able to find the camera from a Peugeot as they are used for both around those years. Hope this helps.

Sorry, I only did the video to help others out, I'm not any sort of repair person and wasn't doing it for gain.
Super helpful video. But I can't seem to find the camera anywhere on Amazon. What did you buy and is the quality of video as good as original ?
Sorry mate, totally missed this. Got it from eBay. More recent comments tell me that eBay doesn't look like they have any more around...sad times. The one I bought was perfect quality, same as the original (but then it was an original part just second hand).

does anyone have a secound hand nackup camera that you can just easily change on the cactus? mine has suffered water damage, so need to replace it and i am not keen on wasting 3-400 bucks on a new one.
Sadly it does look like they are now in demand and have got difficult to find. Sorry I can't help :(

Thanks for the video. Though I have the 2019 C4 Cactus everything back there is probably the same as you show. My review camera doesn't work half the time. After lots of testing over time, I found I only need to activate the rear window wiper for a swipe or two, and the camera comes back to life. Weird that. Probably some loose wiring inside and seeing your video gives me the confidence to open up the back tailgate and see if I can find a permanent solution.
Did you manage to sort it permanently Sam? If it wasn't loose wiring it'll most likely be something internal in the camera which would need replacing. Hope you sorted it whatever it was.
@@stuntmunky264 Thanks for asking. Since it is raining here a lot, I always have the auto windshield wipers on which turns on the back wipers when I put it in reverse to back out of my driveway, so the camera has been working 95% of the time these days. Also, until I purchase the car from the company I'm leasing it from, (which will be in June) I don't want to take anything apart. 🙂 And when I do, the first thing is the camera. The second thing is moving the rearview mirror up a bit (I have an idea on how) because it completely blocks my view of anything coming from the right. With "priority coming from the right" a thing here in France, and me being so tall that has become an issue. Thanks for your channel.
Finally got the time to take apart the back of my 2019 C4 Cactus and get to the camera wiring. The version of the Cactus I have is A LOT easier to open up the back. Just two clips and that little screw you mentioned. Never would have know about the screw if it wasn't for this video. Since it was working after turning on the wiper blades I thought it was probably loose wiring. So, I reconnected all the connectors then waited a few days. The back camera still worked so I put everything back together. I have to say that I think the video is now clearer that it was before. Could that really be? Anyway, thanks again for the video that gave me the hope and impetus to fix by backup camera.

On my 2019 Cactus, which the rear camera only works half the time, I just have to activate the real wiper blade a few swipes and the camera comes back to life.
eBay provided pretty quickly when I was looking for mine. Did you manage to find one Dan?
