Isle of Wight Speed Trials - Sandown Sprint 2024
Today Sam and I visit the Isle of Wight Speed Trials - Sandown Sprint 2024, in Sandown here on the IOW. First we take a walk around the paddock and see what we can expect to be watching tearing along the epslanade in sandown a little later. Plenty of cool rally cars, Porsches, Imprezas, Minis, amongst a plethora of exotic and classic cars. There's even a Nascar vehicle! Great to see motorsport on public roads here on the Isle of Wight.
Sadly we did witness a crash, I've provided a slow-mo in case it helps the driver figure out what went wrong. The MINI didn't look too badly damaged.
Plenty of loud exhausts, turbo's spooling, and superchargers doing the business on the track.

Hello just seen your vid and thought this product might come in handy as we are getting a small van to do a self build but we want to do it a basic as possible plus we have a very tight budget the hole van is going to be powered by a portable power station high powered one like 2500w but problem I think I'm gonna have is powering the diesel heater as most power station 12v is only 10amps some work but some don't but seeing this device would this work on the power station if I use the 3 pin sockets instead of the 12v please as this may solve my problem if it does work that I you.
I couldn't answer that I'm afraid. I would contact the maker of the power station for advice, or look on van-life forums to see what others are doing. Hope that helps
@@hausofyax thanks buddy I will have to have a look I can see this working though as most power stations have the 3 pin sockets for main supply like a house just converting the power lol but thank you anyway
Absolutely love the scooter scene across the pond. Currently have a Vespa GTS 300. Sold three Harleys so I just ride my scooter now. Wish I had somewhere that I could go that had that many like minded people, but alas, the East Coast of America is very limited for scooter riders.
We have loads over here whether there is a rally on or not. Maybe you should pop over. The next rally is coming up soon - it will blow your mind!
The RIC jig. The safest , fastest, easiest way to cut pir board up to 150mm thick. NO DUST. See utube - insulation cutting jig.
I will check it out. Is it really easier than something that any perosn already has in their tool box?
@@hausofyax l have sold over one hundred and fifty jigs all over the U.K. and Ireland.
The jigs now cut up to 150mm.
🛸🛸If you edit and put a flying saucer in front, your video will get a lot of likes👽👽
Haha, no doubt 🤣
I love Echium Pininata. Not easy to grow but once you have one (it flowers in year 2) you'll have a whole bunch as they self seed. Lots of happy bees there
They are great aren't they!
Great to see these great legends of rally still being used
I would be scared to drive them, particularly at full pelt!
I love that style of Impreza
Always that colour too. Looks great.
That car sounds like Flipper!
Haha it does!
Oh my God, so when he was talking about things popping up to popped off like oh my God, did you just curse me?
Oh, it happened to you too? Hope you found it! I lost mine whilst solving it whilst riding my bike. I had to buy a new one 🤣
He really overcooked that!
Yes, not much in the way of damage though as far as I know 👍
That does sound damn good 🤩
Throaty!
The problem is that buyers have to deal with bad-sellers as well, so many things are falsely advertised on there, I'd never put a deposit down without seeing it in person.
Think you commented on the wrong video mate!
@@hausofyax Yes 😂 Sorry about that
@PointNemo9 😁
Nice clips, always good to 4:52 see your self blasting down the strip ,hopefully getting some feedback ,i was in the standard silver Puma, with st150 brakes on the front
You got throught that chicane pretty neatly 👌 I was saying to my lad how you used to see Puma's everywhere, now hardly at all.
@@hausofyax they are getting scraped daily,I used the orange classic mini last year, but I like the Puma you can rag them, and they get the job done, abit of toe and heel, with double de clutch, left foot braking, with trail braking and a bit of hand brake in the mix does help, great clips, thanks.
@TrustyGreyHound2 I don't doubt it, shame. Sounds like you are a dab hand at it 💪
@@hausofyax slow getting there, with practice.
@@hausofyax The rear wheel arches tend to go like Pears on the Puma, Ford didn't put any Rustproofing on them and used really cheap Steel, most of which was actually made in Russia and was incorrectly Smelted and Rusts in the Showroom as a Result!!.. it is even worse on the Racing Puma when the Water gets under the Plastic Extension Cladding...Nightmare. Most get Scrapped because you cannot get OEM Replacement Arches so People think the Car is "done" ... there is a trick however... the Front Arches off a Peugeot 206 can be used as they are the same shape! and you can still get them from Peugeot!
Looks like a great event.
It was fantastic 👌
Eles estão tão devagar que até de Kombi dá para fazer😂😂😂
Not sure what you said, but thanks for watching!
it's not a good idea at all to run your 12v diesel heater off 240 volts 12v power power supply , in any case of a power blackout your heat , won't be able to go into cool down mode and will damage your heater
That is a valid point, I wonder how much damage would actually be done in that event. It's not happened to me so far.
Best thing for that 💩💩 oversized mini 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I had an R53 (The supercharged one) a few years ago and it was a brilliant car.
Still don't like them German rubbish
Which was your favourite car?
Thank you! 😊
Hsappy to help :)
This thing is so much easier then I thought thanks to your tutorial
You're welcome! Glad it was of some help to you :)
Very helpful . , foam board is not always worked with .
I'm glad you found it useful Joseph 👍
Been there too many times!
I think most people have!
We’ve all been there, right?! 😂
Also stick some foam or insulation to the back of the hatch door too will make a huge improvement use spray adhesive
Great tip Colin 👍
Cheers @@hausofyax

i wish this could work on my phone T.T i would love to just get a ding notification from my phone whenever i get one just cause its super satisfying haha

What a beautiful part of the Isle of Wight. Nice flying!
Yes, lesser spotted!
Do you have any memories of using Wightlink ferries?
I can remember when you used to be able to stay in your car!
where are lights from? looks great
Thanks, the lights are from Amazon. Link in video description 👍
Thanks@@hausofyax unfortunately they are 3m i need 2. found some that are very similar, your vid has inspired me to fix up an old light sign box. half way there just ran out of my black vinyl, so waiting on that and i can cut it. (i have a machine) saved me a good £40+ easy. cheers
Sounds cool, glad to be of some help :)

Thanks for the sub, you're very welcome - happy to help :)
Your link to the 12v/240w takes me to a 12v/360w, can i use the 360w or does it have to be the 240w? Also why a 13amp plug, not a 3amp?. Thanks
It may be that the seller has updated the listing to a different product.
@@hausofyax will a 3amp do then? Cl
You can get 1a Fuses for plugs but they are hard to get . you should be using as small a fuse as possible if it says 350w probably a 3a fuse but no bigger than a 5a
240w or 360w please
You just change the fuse in the plug to a 3a if it blows, which it shouldn't unless there is something wrong put a 5 a fuse in if that goes there's really something wrong with probably the power supply box or the heater itself
Great, was gunna go buy a big battery buy after seeing how easy this looks im gunna go this way now. How was the heater? Any problems with it running?
The heater is great. I'm using it in a decent size workshop and it is very effective in everything but freezing conditions. It would be even better in a smaller space. I have another one to install for those extra chilly days!
well brings back some memories I was there in 93 . Sometimes I wish I could go on the runs again . But I am terminally ill . The runs , the Music and the scene was a way of life for all of us . Unless you was involved in it you would probably not understand . Keep the Faith
I'm glad you liked this video Paul. I was not old enough to do any of this in 1993, I expect it was different back then!
Is it okay to use a foil-backed insulation board like this as a sacrificial support under sheets of plywood so you can cut them on the floor? Does the foil make any difference?
I think that would make a right mess. I'd personally get a foldable workbench and use that to support the plywood 👍
I've seen a lot of Americans use thin PIR boards for this exact purpose but they usually buy thin cheaper boards around 20mm thick either with or without foil & then they just bin them once theyre knackered, bearing in mind you can flip the board & use the other side as well they last a long time. For cheapness I sometimes do the same but I use a 25mm thick sheet of polystyrene as it only cost a few quid & I've done countless cuts on it.

I've only just received this today looks a good stress toy 😊
They are great fun, I'm on my second now as I got another one for xmas!
Really helpful thanks 👍🏻 What sort of current does the power supply pull through the 12v cable? Should be able to fuse it down to 3amp shouldn’t you?
You're welcome. I'm not sure to be hinest but the converter is rated to 30 amps, so less than that!
The heater won't pull anywhere near 20a the kettle plug will have a 13a fuse anyway but I would take it down to 3a. But I reckon they probably use less than 1a as you see people just running them from a car battery and only charging weekly
Thanks
You're welcome :)
I am interested in adding a battery for power supply in situations where the mains power is interrupted. When starting/stopping, the heater has a cleaning cycle, between 3-5 minutes. If there is a power outage during this time, the cycle is interrupted and restarted at the first start. this source does not allow a battery to be connected to one of the links, because it does not know how to automatically switch to the battery. Are you thinking of adding a battery in the future? A video would be interesting. Thank you.
That would be a good idea but to be honest it is not something I would need to do here. If there was no power I couldn't do any work so I'd be off home anyway 🤣
How many amps is your 12v PSU please?
30 Amps I believe. I'm pretty sure it says in the description if you want to check, in actual fact click the link and it will take you to the product in the video 👍
Hi. Is there any chance we could use some of this footage for a music video please. 👍
Hey @MarkRichShootingthebreeze If you go to my CZcams homepage and click the arrow next to where it says 'Welcome to our channel' etc you'll be able to reveal my email address. Just drop me an email :)
@@hausofyax Will do. Thank you.
Let's see you do it on 150mm board.
Bring some around!
I’ve got 40 150mm boards coming today I’ll let you know if it works
Get at it!
@@hausofyax it does not work on 100mm or 150mm even cutting 50mm with rail saw into 150mm then trying to snap didn’t work
@@cyberprop 😅 yeh I use either knives or the PIR jigsaw blades on boards up to 50mm thick, if they are any thicker than that they need a saw or something better.
TODAY. IN
Wow! Who knew it would be so simple! Might have to have a go at this myself 👍
You should, great fun and a wicked sign at the end of it ❤️
Brilliant
Glad you like the tutorial 🙂
