    This is absolutely fantastic!! I met guy up in Maine working the river with your prototype. It worked flawlessly!!!! I will be building one tomorrow. Thanks for the insight🤘⚒️

    Really useful especially in our place where ready to use nozzles are rarer than gold. Thank you!

    This is the BEST EXPLANATION of a dredge I have seen on utube. You are a star. Are you using a 12v pump or gasoline?

  • @edmelville9292
    @edmelville9292 Před 10 měsíci

    This is so wrong the pressure water has to be introduced immediately after the suction side of nozzle or pressure water will be pushed out of the suction side. I am a mechanical engineer and your design goes against physics sorry😢

    • @randallmonville2310
      @randallmonville2310 Před 10 měsíci

      The pressure water goes over the suction nozzle creating the suction. If you extend the pressure nozzle past the suction inlet it will jam with rocks. You can see it working at the beginning of the video.

      Bondo is an autobody filler. Its used to repair dents on car bodies. You should be able to buy it at any auto parts store.

    I'm not sure this is very cost effective considering time and material when you can buy a steel nozzle for $100. But this is an excellent video for the diy guys.

    I am dredging a hole in my boat slip and saw your video and said this may work. My question I am curious about is that if I use a 4 or 5 foot gravel (in my case sand)suction pipe would that affect the performance? I need to move about 3 yards of sand for my keel to rest in. Thanks for share your video.

    • @randallmonville2310
      @randallmonville2310 Před 3 lety

      It will. But it may take a bit of time. You can extend the end of the nozzle. Try it.

    That is a hella cheap way to make a 3inch dredge. The regular would easily be a couple if thosand. This is a vest a couple if hundred and the quality is the same, maybe better

    Would I need to make some diameter adjustments if I wanted to use a 3000gph 12v bilge pump?

    • @randallmonville2310
      @randallmonville2310 Před 5 lety

      I doubt it would make enough pressure to create a good suction. All you can do is try though. Start at .5 dia and increase .125 till you get suction.

  • @erikreinertsen1647
    @erikreinertsen1647 Před 5 lety

    That has alot of suction. You really seem to know what your doing. I am currently attempting to build a 4 inch nozzle in order to suck sand off a lake bed and pump it behind a new seawall for backfill. I am attempting to pump the sand up to 6' in height. So far I have been able to pump sand but not enough. I dont have good suction. I am running a riverside 2-1\2" high pressure pump powered by an 11hp honda engine. What should my jet size be for my 4 inch system? Do you have any suggestions?

      @MJ69090 Před 4 lety

      I need to do the same thing and my design incorporates a second pump further up the discharge line, which will act as a booster.

    • @randallmonville2310

      Christiaan Schlechter start with .5 inch. Will depend on pump pressure and hose length and diameter of dredge. You can drill it out to make it bigger.

    I also have a 2" semi trash 9000gph pump. But I was planning on going 1.5". I have hoses and everything else 1.5". I say it should work since it has a smaller diameter hose?

    • @randallmonville2310
      @randallmonville2310 Před 7 lety

      The Caribbean Digger should work with 1.5" PVC. just make the nozzle a touch smaller, say .375".

    • @mrkiks32

      The Caribbean Digger going to put together about 15 segments. shows complete construction. will be 10 minutes or so long.
