A mix genres and styles. I started with about 3 instruments, and you can tell from the amount I have to scroll down that I had a little fun and added 2 extra sections (plus about 14 tracks). Sci-Fi beats In Ableton Live 12 experimenting with delays and unique sounds. Also little easter egg: (If the bassline sounds familiar, its a similar one to the one from Sweden by C418, this was accedental and I decided to embrace it). #music #abletonlive #synthwave #scifimusic #abletonlive12
A Day of Sorrow (Snippets)

Some different sections from a song that's kinda sad. Made mostly from October to november last year, with a few minor changes throughout this year. Disclaimer: I'm not really that practiced in this area of composition (classical) so my compositions are often choatic and unprofessional lol. This is one of the two major attempts I've made at classical/orchestral. #music #composition #originalcom...

Nice music, I've been enjoying your pieces! Keep up the good work!
Heyo I’m a fellow MuseScore user that began making compositions and arrangements around a couple months ago. My clarinet midi used to sound really smooth and elegant and then it turned into a really digital sound out of nowhere one day, has this happened to you as well?
Hmm, the only thing I could think of is that it's switched from a MUSE SOUNDS clarinet to default robot clarinet somehow. Have you used muse sounds in the past? If the issue isn't to do with muse sounds not working than I'm not really too sure, I would recommend making sure musescore is up to date and maybe post on the musescore help website if this doesn't work. Hope this helps
I think this is a very rare time, where I might have overdone the base at 4:04 and beyond (from a mixing standpoint).... HOWEVER, it would sound really cool on a big speaker....
ayeee so glad to see you back! sci-fi is absolutely your thing- I love how expansive and sparkly this is, you can really feel like you're just floating away out there
Thank you (:
just listened to this while i did some homework. it's so beautiful! i love the melody and the sound selection!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it
nice
Wonderful
Thank you!
woah I love the atmosphere you've created, it's so magical! Also happy to see you hopping onboard the Musescore train :)
Thank you! I may haven't used it in a while, but I won't forget musescore! It's still really fun and offers things that software like Ableton doesn't do for orchestral so I still use it occasionally... Even if I haven't uploaded a musescore video in a very long time before this lol.
I cut it pretty fine but still did manage to upload in february! hope you enjoyed, as from the title these sections are just snippets so they arent really weaved together (in case they sound a bit odd together). AND also I'm not a professional so im just experiementing to see what sounds good, so it may be a bit rough in a few places. ALSO I do have other things I might upload so yeahh.. haven't run out of content yet
Amazing!
Omg soo good
Ayeeee congratulations! You've done so much fantastic work this month, your commitment is admirable and this final piece sounds great ♥ Also thank you for the shoutout at the end :)
ayeee one more day to go, you've got this!
sorry if this sounds very "raw", I made it in 30 minutes lol. The Interesting thing is that I was going to make a different thing entirely but the chord progression I made inspired me to try chop in up a bit more intead of just having it go for the full time. Also the drum section was something that also wasn't intended, I just accidentally played it back before I slowed down the high hats and it ssounded good. So moral of the story is that I found a completly new "style" which i never did before unintentionally (not much of a moral but it's implied I guess...)
I know this is gloomy but it's also pretty chill, can picture this on a lofi playlist :)
Wow, this is awesome, sounds like something which could be in blade runner (minus the drums). Great job.
Thanks! I appreciate it
Being a bit creative, I sampled day 26 into a precussion instrument (by adding a vocoder and reversing the clip w/ a few other things) to give the beat some "shuffle" and character Edit: also listening back to this it could do with a lot more mixing lol
This is so good! I love the harmonies. They go great with the textures and beat.
Woah I really love the ambience you've created here! Could be part of a video game soundtrack for sure :)
thanks!
accidentally discovered the melody from Alpha By C148 while making this (because it was in the same key as the song I made so when I was making a melody I heard one bit from the Alpha melody) so decide to incorporate it into the song lol.
lol it's so easy to accidentally repeat things, I think the best example of when I did that was when I submitted a piece for assessment and my teacher was like hang on is this crazy frog??? Turned out it wasn't but it was actually part of the Swedish Chef popcorn theme this piece sounds really cool regardless though
NICE
Nice!
Ayeee this is such a bop and I'm so impressed by your musical versatility! You could totally a vocal melody on top of this and turn it into a EDM pop track if you wanted to :)
Some great stuff there! Have you given any thought to what your plans are post-Jamuary?
Thanks! I've given a little thought to what comes after, I'll definitely be posting a lot less lol, and might try to work on some of my older stuff from December November with the skills I've learnt over this month, and might try some musescore projects as well, or maybe bring up some old musescore projects. This month has given me a good catalogue of ideas to work on so for the long term I can always shape them into full songs.
the squash sounding noise (like a flanger) that starts playing at 0:20 is automation on sync frequency of the "nature lead"
Can totally see this as part of a video game soundtrack
Ooo I really like this one! Nicely done ♥
in the intro I tried to morph into Emajor from chords outside of it and slowly going into it so its just a little experiementing.
Aye nice, glad to see the harp hype spreading!
the harp synths are the light blue ones plus one of the green ones the way this song is sectioned is every new bit gets 4 bars, so its not really in song form as much as it could be, its mainly just showing each main bit. There is also an end bit which is a little out of place but i think it sounds cool lol so i kept it in.
I love this! Also peep the clock ticking/col legno thing, you used it really well ♥
thanks!
In the future I think this track could do with some adjustments to the dynamics for some extra emotion (it takes a lot of time so tried to do some dynamics adjustments today) and fixing the velocities of some intruments, as they could be more expressive at times
reflective/sad and still futuristic???? istg you're truly a 22nd century icon
analog -> digital evolution in the song. i tried a lot of presets I wouldn't normally use and combined them with the synths that i use often. also all the tracks are presets from Kontakt 7 (hence why its named contact)
woahhh I love that spacey sparkly thing at the beginning and how you're really honing in on a unique style! You've got some great ideas there and it's fun to watch your progress :)
if you have only a little bit of time try making presets in synthesizers instead. very useful.
or try mixing some old songs or dry samples
look at description for my reasoning ^
well you might want to cut some high off the bass and add some texture sounds like vinyl cracks but good track all in all
I think the compression might sound a bit weird (?) on the melody, i tried to do some sidechaining with the bass to get it to punch through, so might have to revisit that.
its a nc track.
I spent more time than usual on this one because it was so fun to make lol. I think it could use some more kicks at the start of the drum section and cleaner transitions, but overall I'm pretty happy with it.
Nice and chill : 3 Sounds way better than my first did lol. Great job. Also interesting how you stacked some things.
I'm so impressed at the commitment you've given to Jamuary so far! I really like the combination of emotions here and I think with some polishing+dynamics the sentimental part at 1:17 onwards could hit a lot harder. The great thing about these mixes is that you can always come back to them and it's honestly nuts that you're able to come up with so many ideas so quickly this month :)
Thank you! If I were to put more time into it then definitely that would be the first point that I'd improve and add some more too
I like how you're always trying to be creative and come up with your own chords, the effort pays off and gives your compositions a nice edge :)
This song was a bit harder to mix as some elements didn't co-operate with each other lol, so I've tried my best to get a decent sound in the time I had.
yea this is a great song! you just need to transition between the different sounds better with reverses and automations as right now the cut between sections is a bit harsh. the bit between the intro and the verse could be dropped or made to tease some tension before releasing it with the verse. the pre chorus could use a bit more moving part to demand excitement before releasing the energy in the chorus/drop. The drop could also use some eq adjustment or add some more sounds as it sounds a bit muffled.
Out of curiosity, and because of the "some elements didn't co-operate with each other" thing, how do you go about choosing your instruments and building your tracks? Are you previewing to see what sounds good together first or just selecting and powering through to make something out of those? Always interested in others' processes.
@@JaeHaruArt Well usually the first intrument is the most important for determining the mood, so I spend a decent bit of time finding the right intrument and the right way to utilise it (in this case intrument with chords at the top was the first). I try to make every track build on each other in some way, while still making them stand out if I want them too. Most of the tracks on here I don't immediately pick, I go through sometimes 5,10,20 presets to see which one would fit the best (especially in the ableton stock presets, there's so many it takes a while to find things that fit). All the tracks from vital (yellow) I programmed from the inital preset to get the sound I want. The way I go about it is usually just previewing the sound of the preset over the song, and if it sounds good i make its own track, experiment with it, add some filters, try it in different sections, etc. Although sometimes it ends up I just stick to one preset and try my best to make it work lol. Something interesting about this track was that the drums were the last things I added in, and I almost decided not to because it was hard to find drums that would work with the mood. Also with the "elements not co-operating" thing I think they sounded decent together its more of just maybe the frequencies were all to similar so it would just create a "soup" of reverb or you couldn't really focus on what was going on because there was to much happening that was too similar I guess.
@@thelittleowl55 I see. Interesting! Thanks for taking the time for the mini process breakdown and in depth reply. : ) Always cool learning about how other people go about their stuff. <3
It sounds nc. But that snare really smacks you in the face huh
Yeah I turned it down a few db and added some reverb but it's still too much
