We Started From a Single Cup of Tea
Over 15 years ago, our president and founder, Akihiro "Akky" Kita, visited Wazuka, Kyoto. The tea produced in this rural district is known as Ujicha, one of the highest quality, premium teas in Japan. Akky was a college student in search of his life's calling. Inspired by a single cup of Ujicha drunk at its source, Akihiro's passion for green tea was born. After fifteen years of learning to master the art of growing premium tea leaves from master tea farmers in Wazuka, Kyoto Obubu Tea Plantations was born. The name Obubu itself comes from the slang of Kyoto and means tea.
We hope to extend this family beyond Japan's shores as we seek to educate the world about quality Japanese green tea, to promote both the traditional and contemporary culture of drinking green tea, and to aid other tea farmers as they seek to establish tea plantations in their respective countries and regions.

予定の収穫量40キロ目指して約3時間。
みなさんのがんばりのおかげで無事に目標数量を大きく上回る量の茶葉を収穫することが出来ました。
この出来上がったお茶を、お茶の甲子園“全国茶品評会”にだします。

High grade Sencha tastes like Kabusecha. Skill is needed to brew a proper cup. It is a truly amazing experience to drink such a cup. I'm currently studying with a tea master in Japan. Each cup is truly a unique experience. It takes many a cup to master the way of brew. Even then, you may have a not so good cup, but you learn from it and want to brew the next cup. Tea is truly a gift from God.
I love how the workers got a massage after strenuous work. Such a simple thing can make all the difference for a person. No wonder they’re willing to work so hard!

Sencha Green tea was my first it really is amazing! highly recommend.... haven't tried the others yet.
Those leaves look amazing! Do someone know like how much time of steaming do you need to apply? I'd like to try and make some tea from a camellia japonica that i've got. Made a few attempts and it tasted good but I'd like to do it by the rightest way possible w/o machinery.

Great-looking handmade tea. My favorite part is that the workers are well taken care of with massage stations at the tea facility. Lots of love put into the leaves.

The picking is being done by visitors who are simply experiencing tea farming. Sometimes these leaves are then used for hand rolling demonstrations, sometimes they might be processed for competitions.
