no worries, happy to answer your questions. i didn’t need to have an itinerary. you only book your flights once you’ve gotten your visa. you don’t need an itinerary for the visa application, at least that was my experience. my visa was valid for the day before my contract started. something i was grateful for, was that my contract started on 5th of February, but my former host mum used the first month to get me adjusted and for the baby to get used to me

i think it’s best to leave them in a locker, there’s limited space on the bus. but the bags will most likely be transferred by the airline, you don’t have to get them from baggage claim

it's really hard to give a solid answer because it depends on what sort of experience you're looking for as an au pair. it also depends on the family you end up matching with. I personally liked Trier because it's not a huge city, it's close to nature and the people are really friendly. the only downside is that the connection to the rest of Germany isn't so great, but you can easily travel to France, Luxembourg and Belgium from there. The south of Germany is also quite nice, you have the city life but nature is also easily accessible, you can go for hikes, go to the lakes and there's lots of snow in winter. The train connections are also pretty good. Definitely depends on what you want

from my personal experience, i found another family as soon as I knew that my old family didn't want me around anymore. once i had my new family, i contacted the local foreign affair office and they sent me a list with all the paperwork that I need to submit and gave me a deadline of when everything needs to be in. the most important thing was getting a letter from my old family, stating that our relationship has been terminated and when it was terminated. the rest of the paperwork they needed was a contract between me and my family and the questionnaire i had to submit during my visa application. hope that answers your question :)

you don't need any school related documents. i took some of my certificates from university but they didn't need to see them
