Mason is the host of Liveline, a live nationally syndicated Top 40 radio show heard on stations all over America. On this channel, you'll find remixes, instrumentals, clips various radio shows/stations among a few other things.
Open House Party | RuPaul In-Studio - 6/13/1993
A truly rare find, now public 31 years later. Singer, model and legendary drag queen RuPaul stopped by John Garabedian's home studio in the Boston suburbs for a live appearance on the nationally syndicated Open House Party radio show (1987-2017). Dated Sunday June 13, 1993, this night was one of John's all-time favorites and is a very popular story amongst former OHP employees. It's super cool to see what the studio used to look like, how the show was produced and everything that happened between the songs. On the date of this video's posting (9/5/24, also the 37th anniversary of OHP starting), I actually digitized the high-quality VHS audio of this show's broadcast, which was recorded directly from the raw studio feed. Then, I perfectly synced up the audio from that tape to this video, which previously had poor quality. I also added the show intro from that night and the Mark Driscoll RuPaul promo, before he eventually walks in at the 1:10 timestamp and video begins.
Also seen in this hour-long clip is OHP alumni Rich O'Brien who was producing the show. You see him handing records to John, loading the cart machines and making sure everything is going alright. At the 48:55 timestamp, you can actually watch the picture used in this video being taken. Jonathyn Brown, best seen at the 50:50 timestamp was also a producer and the show's production manager. Reed Lewis, who recorded this video, can be seen with RuPaul at 51:40. He started as John's software and computer genius in 1989, a title which he still holds today on my show Liveline, and remains one of our best friends.
Over 400 raw audio, high-quality, full five-hour Open House Party shows are available to stream at mixcloud.com/MasonKelter. We unearthed a ton of tapes in John's bedroom which I have spent the past few years digitizing in addition to the hundreds I've recorded myself and received from other people. It's also been 10 years (I was 13) since I started archiving, uploading and sharing clips of this incredible show for you, with no monetary gain. Early Floyd is the best! In fact,there was a nice melodic JAM from the COMMITTEE LP,right after the CHIRPING BIRDS,that reminded me of a long lost Floyd song that I heard 32 years ago on the radio. Ot was about 5 minutes long, upbeat,had a baroque-like keyboard melody and a trippy guitar solo with few lyrics. Does anyone know what this song's title might be?
