Charles Napier doesnt like small foreign cars LOL
In this Nov 21, 1982 episode of CHIPS, Charles Napier (1936-2011) knocks small foreign cars off the road, calls them "econo boxes with V-nothin engines"---(LOL), beats on them with a sledge hammer, and almost blows up an auto parts warehouse for compact cars. I always liked this actor cos he always played good ole boy redneck types, always hilarious.

No Copyright/Infringement Intended. I do not own ANY rights to this song. This Is For Fans Of Lesley Gore and to spread the word to others. My favorite music artist of all time, and so under rated. This song was first released as a 45 in March 1964. It peaked around #12 depending on various sources. The first album it was orginally included in was "Boys, Boys, Boys" which was released in May of...

When "MEN WERE MEN" and "CARS WERE CARS", nothing like today on BOTH counts. Especially with FART CANNED LOUD CARS that have A LOUD BARK and SMALLER BITE. I saw a road test from back in the day of one of these early '421 HO' Grand Prixs knocking off 0-60 in the high 5s low 6s on crappy bias ply tires of the day and the 'slusho-matic' automatic trans (pre 1965 with the good TH400 tranny). Ya I know how irritating that is. Especially when I uploaded this 14yrs ago the words were in sync, but ytube changes things on the site as technology changes/improves etc, they didn't used to have ads is just one of dozens of things and that can cause video play problems. There's been so many changes that at one time I think the words got in sync again on vids like this, only to be thrown outta sync again later.

Traffic light viewers? Was that a device installed on the dash to allow drivers with overhanging roofs to be able to see the traffic light right above them at intersections? I’m surprised a lot of other cars of the ‘50s did not have those, among them, the 1958 Edsel.

I remember the early 60s. In the late 50s and early 60s the MOPAR383s 413s and 426s ruled the street. Not only were the engines powerful in the 60s the MOPARS were smaller and lighter.. They had the best a utomatic in the business and a tough rear end. They generally were quicker on the street than the ⁴09 Chevs or 406 Fords. I personally n e ver saw a 421 Super Duty Catalina or Bonneville on the street rscing scene. In Southern California or south Texas. Probably because they were ungodly ecpensive to build . I did s r e some road tests on a couple and the results of these tests and their performance at the drag strip and in NASCAR made it clear tha t the 421 SD engines were putting out a LOT more than the c laimed 405 hp. Some years later I witnessed dyno testing of a pro built 421 SD Pontiac engine on a n accurate dyno. The engine after all tuning twesks put out 491 hp. Not bad and aboutc20 percent more than the clsimed 405 hp. The engineers in 7 years took the samev287 block from 247 c i and w 80 hp to 421 c.i. and 490 hp. Pontiac shifted from race cars for the street with its SD program to the hot car for the street with its 1964 GTO. Itvwas heavily promoted but not really that fast after the Chevy 396 hit the street in its middized cars and its Camaro. And the long rods made them less than durable over 5500 rpm. Max hp at the timecwas around 360 compared to the 375hp....actually 425hp.... 396 Chevelles. Also the CHEV II SS in 1966 was perfectly capable of blowing the doors off the GtOs. If you had one of these Chevys and put the 365hp solidlifter cam lifters screw in studs and correct valve springs you got a nice solid 365 hp engine in a much lighter car that could happily rev to 6500 rpm and live. GM POLICIES at the corporate level virtually destroyed all GM brands ex ept Chevrolet. Because of badge engineering deliberste cheapening of their cars and failure to rapidly adapt with new engineering and more efficient designs in power trains. And downsizing their cars. The only division that didnt suffer as much was Chevrolet... m because it was the bottom of the product line up in price. . And the platform and engine that the other divisions were rebadging. Example the Cad Cimarron which was basically a Chevy Ii somewhat tarted up. At the end Pontiac and Olds werent building excitment or Rockets. They were building sh.tty lirrle dreadfully slow and ugly cars that were overpriced compared to their Chevy counterparts that they were clone from.

Ya if you calculate hp (and there's various formulas) based on qtr time, car weight, gear ratios etc, there's no way these cars could achieve the times they do with the factory wimpy ratings. And the terrible tires back then also hurt them. A new 2023 car of this weight and time would be rated much higher with today's "optimistic" (in my opinion) hp ratings. Peak hp ratings only reflect "peak hp" for a milisecond not "average hp" across the entire power band. These bigger engines really didn't have any "dead spots" compared to say a small engine of today that may not come alive till 7k rpm, by then its too late and you're in this 421s rearview mirror.

The real treat was listening to her on headphones, because the songs were so well produced with analog technology. LG didn't have a powerful voice, but she was a fantastic singer,...her styling and breath control were excellent. You can tell she had some good training because she carries every measure through, doesn't cut off until the count of 1 in the next measure,...and she crescendos to the end.
