Frodo's Journey of Mercy & Transformation - A Lord of the Rings Spiritual Retreat w/ Fr. Gallagher
Frodo's Journey of Mercy and Transformation - A "Lord of the Rings" Spiritual Retreat with Fr. Timothy Gallagher
Father Gallagher and Kris McGregor discuss the spiritual journey of Frodo in "The Lord of the Rings," particularly the latter part of his journey. He highlights Frodo's growth and sanctification, as symbolized by Tolkien through Frodo's changing appearance and inner light. This transformation reflects the spiritual development one undergoes through trials and tribulations.
The discussion moves on to Frodo's challenges, his suffering, and his gradual transformation. Frodo's journey is contrasted with Sam's; while Sam returns to a normal life in the Shire, Frodo is forever changed by his experiences. This is emblematic of different life paths and vocations people undertake.
Father Gallagher then elaborates on Frodo's inability to destroy the Ring, interpreting it not as a moral failure but a physical and mental exhaustion. He explains how Frodo's earlier acts of mercy and pity, especially towards Gollum, play a crucial role in the destruction of the Ring and the salvation of Middle-Earth. This act of mercy is contrasted with traditional heroic acts, highlighting a Christian perspective of heroism through forgiveness and compassion.

AMEN 🙏❤
I've been praying like this for years and felt an overwhelming guilt as if I had to actually speak out verbally with our Lord. Then it dawned on me that people who were deaf mute would be praying like this. I realised i felt more into praying like this, but still had scruples about it a sort of guilt.because I felt my prayers were meaningless, because I would pray this way during my work, going walks, in the car,on the bus,out shopping etc.. I felt i was drawn through guilt to visit Jesus more and more in adoration of the blessed sacrament. Sometimes I felt that I had to pray my daily devotions out loud in order to get rid of the guilt, goodness gracious it was very draining to have to repeat my St Bridgette prayer, rosary novena's litanies and chaplets etc . I use to love reading, but due to mental illness and chronic anxiety I lost that desire,of being engrossed in a book and being part of the story, strangely enough I imagined that I was right there whatever I read. I hate the fact that I cannot retain or remember anything that I read, which I find so upsetting, because I would love to teach my younger relatives and friends kids, like a kind of baby sitting storytime I'm going through spiritual dryness and feel I need to be at the blessed sacrament daily for at least three hours a day. I think I'm drawn into a deeper relationship with Jesus to calm my mind and hopefully be able to be blessed with enough knowledge to understanding and remember what God wants to use me for. Please pray for my journey with Jesus through Mary to be fulfilled to do the will of God and that I desire what he desires from my life heart etc.. I really am nothing, uneducated.clumsy and don't really know how to explain situations without getting myself in a muddle. I feel lost alone empty and void of love, although I know I must endure this journey as penance to save souls in some way,or maybe just to save my own wretched soul. Lord in your mercy grant me the desire of surrendering my will completely over to you 🙏
Thank you!🙏
Thank you for discussing and explaining St Teresa's Holy Spirit-give insights. God bless you.
Wonderful spiritual insights and advice. Thank you and God bless you.
Thank you! It's great.
These talks are wonderful, but this long repetitive commercial in the middle of every single episode is very irritating.
Beautiful thank you
Amém ❤
So… I experienced both desolation and the dark night simultaneously! Thank you Lord for freedom!!! Thank you Lord for purification!!! Thank you for love beyond measure and comprehension ❤
She had vision of Mary giving her son Jesus in marriage to Catherine the thing is her wedding ring was Jesus foreskin her corpse is on display. Maybe catholics shold read last chapter of Baruch pay close attention to verse 73
Awesome!
Amen
Oh Jesus teach me your ways I surrender.
This is so useful, thank you so much for all your work. I've been listening to your podcasts for some years now, and they have been really, really helpful in my spiritual life. Particularly the ones in discernment. I pray for you. I send you a big hug from Spain 😊
Very touching. Thank you for this presentation ❤
I love these videos. Very sincerely. Thank you and God bless all responsible for these videos.
I just found your channel, and it does seem to be absolutely wonderful. One piece of constructive criticism though is to have that long commercial that is the exact same thing in the middle of every single video seems odd. If I'm interested in watching up to 60 videos or three of the series, I am then listening to that same commercial that you are putting in the middle 60 times!
Befriending the Holy Fathers. ... Yes it is a joy ... Halleluia
Please pray for barry Charlotte Sammy zaidan Amber and louie and for my brothers and sisters who have hurt me and my family so much with gossip and lies also remember our fr blount God bless him and you all Jesus I surrender myself to you take care of it lord
I am awed how The Immaculate Conception desired to appear to, of all pious humans, Bernadette Soubirous. Bernadette surely is special. Pious, humble, content and prayerful. I had to buy the book to better understand who Bernadette was, and also to better understand Mother Mary. I smiled when I read how she spent time sewing clothes, and being concerned for the statue of Mary she had, she sewed a little coat to fit the statue because it was cold winter. Of course Bernadette was not in her teens at that time. I also smiled when Bernadette and her friends tossed holy water at the apparition of Mother Mary. When I pray the rosary, I often think of the manner that Bernadette prayed, and I try to pray in the same manner. ( I require 45 minutes to sincerely pray one rosary ) In the end I learned that the Message of Lourdes is Mother Mary wants us all to repent and to pray the rosary often for the repentance of sinners.
Thank you so much for these. I wish I had watched them a few years ago. I plan to watch this series a few times as I haven’t had time to read the books by saint Ignatius yet . Bless you all.
I’m having trouble finding episode 3. I looked on the app too. Can any one help? I’m probably missing it somehow, thanks!
How many episodes are there of this book? It’s great!
I have also read a book which takes a somewhat different approach to the history of England. The author argues with a conviction to match Mr. Pearce's that England was an Orthodox country from the beginning including the mission of St. Augustine. Even though the mission was from Rome, it was not the RC religion, but the Orthodox one. He argues that popery only reached England with the Norman conquest. Apparently the Normans had the backing of the Norman pope of the day. The church was subjected to Rome and the papacy after Hastings and slowly the people were led to the new papal ways. Mr. Pearce mentioned for instance Corpus Christi. The people were introduced to this new feast by means of the mystery plays. It was not an original Christian feast, but a medieval papal invention. In Orthodox England before 1066 it was unknown. This is just one example of how things were altered. I would agree with him in his thesis that the Protestant reformation was forced on the people, but so was popery - so what is the difference in the end? I pray to the Mother of God for the return of England to the original Orthodox faith.
I did enjoy reading this book, but it must be mentioned that this is a folk history in the sense that it is not a scholarly work. I am sure that Mr. Pearce could produce such a book, but this is not it. It lacks footnotes as proofs for what he has written. This is in line with a certain type of RC writing that seeks to appeal to the masses of English Catholics. Not that there is anything wrong with that approach, but that is what he chose to do much like Belloc did.
I am living this journey through or by the intercession of St Elizabeth of the Trinity. By discovering heaven on earth, through the Trinity
I hope we get more &. More of Dr. Lilles, because takes deep into our hearts but with Teresa’s eyes, yet to the lives that we are experiencing now.

All I could do is weep as 29:12 heard this. I stop taking comunión for 5 years, because of a relationship with my mother. It took me to PTSD, & I thought I could not take comunión due to having to separate from my mom, emotionally & physically. Then I learned to embrace depression, & symptoms of PTSD, & slowly accepting that my mom is who will sanctify my soul, & I pray for her each day. Finally coming to the conclusion my mom is not mentally ok, in order to do the things she does. Now I see we both of us, can still strive for a life of prayer & sanctification. 25:28
Thank you Dr. Anthony for all these inspiring conversations. I love the spirituality of St Teresa of Avila. 🙏🙏🙏

Fantastic series. And it’s free. I’ve often heard, “some of the best things in life are free”. And I was always a skeptic. But in this case, it’s true. Truly. God bless Father Gallagher.
