      It depends on where you live or where your traveling too. If you're staying near Center City, Hillcrest, City heights , some parts of La Jolla near UCSD or near any trolley station. Public transit is fine. Outside of that you have to deal with fairly infrequent buses, multiple transfers and lots of walking on streets that were not designed well for that.

      The social life is extremely dead, mainly commuters from Temecula. The selection of professors is low, they are terrible at teaching and explaining the work. It might be better for a buisness degree but definitely not for a STEM degree. Overall poor social life, terrible gym, terrible professors, nothing is going on next to campus, very small campus, I could go on... it's not worth the money.

    Here is a little trick to save a lot of $$$$. Just outside of the Temecula city limits is a community called French Valley. It is county area however, fairly new housing, and stores. The housing development followed the same standards as Temecula with many parks, and hiking paths, and such, and a big plus, the schools are the same school district which is highly rated as some of the best in the county. The crime rate is also low and because the city of Temecula contracts with the Riverside County sheriffs department, the same officers out of the same station protect both areas. Now for why you will save money, county tax rate lower overall, most areas no HOA in French Valley. Home prices noticeable less. I moved here 4 years ago, and couldn't be more happy.

    I live in North SD County, and depending on the day of the week or time of day, the 5 freeway different moods. Southbound on weekend mornings or noon has traffic to Mexico and North in the afternoon can be busy. I have parallel routes to get around traffic jams. If I drive north and not in a hurry, I'll drive along the coast. I live in North County between the freeway and railroad tracks, my apartment has heaters but no air conditioners. I haven't seen frost on the car and might have a few hot 95F days in August or September. Living in a beach town you may adopt a beach dress code and blend with the tourists.

    IT Was a nice place to live. The vacation rental business has all but wiped out any chance of home ownership. Unless you make 100k a year. Apt. rents are $ 1,200 for 450 sq.ft. 1bed to $ 2,500 for 2 bedroom. If you can find one. Homeless drug addled weirdos living on the streets is commonplace now. Trash and crime abounds. They will steal anything you leave outdoors. Good luck to anyone ready for the California dream.

    Rain and clouds are in the eye of the beholder. Its not a defect. The whole state of California is basically a desert which means hard water, dry weather and extreme taxes. Do you wanna look 50 when you are just 30. There is a reason Washington is ranked the best state in the country.

    • @chnalvr
      @chnalvr Pƙed rokem

      The big pluses of Western Washington's rain is the natural beauty all around. It is green, lush and colorful, compared with burned, dry brown. The air quality is in the "Good" range for most of the year and there is a clean feel, due to the rain. Plus, there is no drought or worry about where will water be found.

      San Diego and it's weather definitely aren't for everyone. We definitely hear that some of our clients who move here from other areas miss the four seasons. Then you have the San Diegans who love that we can snowboard in the morning in Big Bear, then come home for an afternoon surf session, and finish it off with an exotic dinner across the border in Mexico.

    Do you have any opinions on why rent is more expensive in San Diego than Seattle if the cost of living is so similar? Is it because homes appreciate a little faster in San Diego?

    • @yourguidetolivinginsandieg9707

      Sunshine tax is a real estate scam. Lived my whole life in San Diego, and now I'm retired. There never was this so-called "sunshine tax" here. It's mega Wall Street real estate corporation greed - especially Blackstone- that forced many San Diegans, native San Diegans, out of their homes. Leaving their families and friends and everything familiar, increasing the homelessness in San Diego by making residents' homes unaffordable while luring wealthy people from out of state. Yes, I'm angry. I've heard all the excuses that Blackstone hides behind to pretend that they are not responsible. Those excuses are made of straw. Blackstone is not only responsible for the housing crisis, but Blackstone is also responsible for destroying America by causing deeper divides between corporate greed and reality.
