I remember watching Dubuque win his first NJ HS championship in 2000. I believe he was the 5th seed and he torn through that tournament with vengeance. Fun to watch his hyper aggressive style back then as well.

John Kading is an absolute beast. He showed why he is an NCAA champion. Most people can not fathom the physical and mental strength it takes to wrestle in his condition. Despite his injury, he almost became a two-timer - Illinois legend.

Did he go on a Mormon mission or something?

When Darrion was on, he was a joy to watch. Some athletes are just poetry in motion.

Wrestled him in grade school always prided myself on myself on my quickness, wrestled a lot of good wrestlers, but Ott made me feel inefficient on the mat-by far the quickest person I have ever wrestled.

How embarrassing that they taped the whole match but dumped the second period. The NCAA should be ashamed of itself.

Ott is fun to watch. I got to butt heads w him when we were about 8 years old. Wrestling is a great skill

The Bonomo brothers were incredible to watch! I really admired them and the Smith brothers. My brother and I were teens at the time and wrestled AAU freestyle and Greco, during the summer (folkstyle, during the school year).😊❤🤼‍♂️

Abas in my opinion is one of the best wrestlers to never win a championship. Abas had all the skills to become a champion, but just didn’t get there. Ultimately his kryptonite was his stamina, he’d destroy you early with takedowns, and then try to hold on at the end. As you see, Abas competed with Fried in the first period or two, but once that was gone, Fried just dominated Abas. Same case with Mcilravy, Mcilravy was a freshman at the time, and was not at his best, but Abas just lost because he got gassed at the end, and couldn’t hold onto his lead
