    Salzburg 2014 one of the best productions of the best opera ever written with the best Don Giovanni ever. Like to listen D’ Arcangelo everything that he sing (and here again one of the best Philippe)… but, Mozart 💘 Don Giovanni, Leporello, Il Conte d'Almaviva, Figaro 💔❤️❤️❤️

    Super qu'il y avait le texte. Pour le moment, je n'ai pas entendu une version en français qui me comble alors qu'il y en a en italien (aussi ne connaissant pas par coeur le texte en français comme je connais sa version italienne, donc peux pas juger à moins d'apprendre ce texte ou de l'avoir sous les yeux). Ça se trouve c'est l'âme italienne de Verdi la cause...

    Cosi Is easily my favourite Mozart opera, such glorious music especially the first act and this does seem to bean excellent production and cast. I think would be great to see the complete opera.

    Mi dispiace perché in generale D'Arcangelo mi piace molto, ma qua è tutto basso di posizione, con suoni sferraglianti e calanti, sento un'emissione faticosa... repertorio troppo pesante per la sua voce forse

      Esato, non e un basso ma un baritono basso secondo me. Bisognerrebbe sentirlo cantare in italiano.. ma lo sapette che Verdi a voluto che sia cantata in francese , in fate l'italiano e une traduzzione. Pero io son francese e preferisco che sia cantata in italiano. Saluti.

    Es curioso que teóricamente esta aria ha sido planeada y diseñada por alguien como Verdi en francés... Sin embargo fonéticamente suena horrible incluso se rompe el legato, en cambio en italiano queda perfecta. No lo sé pareciera que Verdi diseño esta ópera para cantarse en italiano y la estreno en France pues porque era un trabajo para teatro imperial de París.

      C'est vrai que le "Elle (ne m'aime pas)" sur le Mi aigu n'est pas du tout aisé, ni les Ré sur "voûtes". Mais l'ensemble passe mieux avec un francophone comme Van Dam qui sait dessiner les mots plus justement. J'aime beaucoup D'Arcangelo, même si ici il semble un peu en dessous de ses prestations habituelles.

    FIne singing but terrible staging! Wandering around dilutes the focus of the text and Philippe's anguish. And what's with Eboli? And the dog?? It's supposed to be day-break (l'aurore argente ces vitreaux) after a sleepless night!

    It is criminal he was not recorded as Don when he was as young as here and his voice had a wider range. There are later recordings and he is usually very good, but the role was written for a young man, which is not unwarranted. If you listen to Siepi, who is the benchmark, he was recorded when thirty-something. Then others are compared to his - absolutely incredible - performances, the age difference never mentioned. Here, D'Archangelo gives a taste of what he could do with the role, thank God his earlier Leporello performances are on dvd.
