Those sneaky pasta-punks took it from you, so you do indeed need that agreement with Sweden.And you're gonna love it. It gives you a very nice supply of tungsten. You really should make your sub flotillas larger. You have the boats, Dönitz need them. Dönitz actually wanted 300 subs to fight in the Atlantic, and with your aggressive mode, they need more boats. 😊

Hi there me again from part one. Unfortunately I hit a game breaking bug where all save files were deleted, I was at November 5th 1918 so I'm assuming I was very close to the end of the game. I'm wondering if it's worth replaying the entire game, or simply watching this video to see the ending, happy to be guided by your advice here! I'm honestly not sure I have the energy to do another playthrough when I was so damn close to the end...pretty devastated to be honest, I'm on PS5 and the only way to back up saves is to purchase a playstation plus subscription (which I obviously didn't do!). Thanks in advance for any advice!

Mark,... If you want reduce your garrison needs remove the MPs and reduce the calvary battalions to just one (1). This will give you 2 suppression which is all that is needed for each 'zone'. Your garrison 'division's will be adjusted accordingly. If placed on 'local police force' the compliance will slowly grow and resistance decrease. You can augment this with some agents or using your 'price of terror' (but neither are really necessary except maybe in Russia). Note this is not an 'exploit' but simply part of the garrison system. In effect, you deploy more but smaller garrison divisions with fewer overall battalions. You then disband your MPs and recover a lot of support equipment. In my games I rename the cavalry used as "Police Battalions" to avoid confusion in the template screen.

Excellent stuff and well played. Please play as the Confederates (with the mod), as a student of the ACW I have really enjoyed this series. Also looking forward to the American War of Independence playthrough.

I have to say it was really cool to see 1st Corp turn up and all the famous units (from this playthrough) line up and attack together. Once more into the breach!!!

Been a good series. One thought... I wonder what would happen if one used their cav to just send after enemy commanders/supplies as soon as they get spotted? Hit their command and control (such as it is in the Civil War) structure. Maybe something to try on a Confederate playthrough.

My parallel play-through with DLC is actually going remarkably similar to yours. I took Norway a little earlier. but North Africa almost turned into a stalemate. For some reason (I am sure it must be the DLCs that do this) the UK had a huge amount of units in Egypt. I very nearly failed to break through into Alexandria before my supplies failed. and got it by the skin of my teeth. I SWEAR the A.I. magically teleports units around the front line, as at one stage I had lured the UK into attacking with around 10 divisions towards Tobruk, cut off and destroyed all but 1 unit, ran towards Alexandria confidently assuming they had ONE retreating division only and BOOM! 8 more divisions appear and defend. So I'm moving towards clearing up East Africa, but the UK seems to have committed all its troops there so I hope I don't get bogged down. USSR has just started to justify against me too. Not exactly historical. I need more troops!

Military access with Sweden means you can move your troops through their territory, which can help if you decide to help Finland in their continuation war by putting an army on the Finnish front. It doesn't lead to anything else other than getting military access to Sweden. The only reason you might need it is if you decide to put one of your armies in Finland when you invade the USSR, in which case its quite handy to have. if you don't plan on that, not really an issue at all

Have you considered continuing the Civil War theme with Grand Tactician: Civil War? It's a more ambitious game, and a little finicky, but very cool.

At first I thought this game would hit too close to home - my great grandfather was a field medic in WW1, my grandfather a Royal Engineer in WW2, I'm retired RAAMC, so to say I felt a personal connection while playing is an understatement. The thing I truly loved about the game, and the thing that makes it truly unique, is that *every* decision you make in the game is actually binary: the result is you either save lives, or you lose them. That's it. And in that way, it actually gives you a small sense of what these incredible people who served in these types of situations went through every day. I've been gaming in some form for more than 30 years and I've never played one with such a singular, or more effective focus. I think the game is a masterpiece (biased maybe, but I can live with that).

Early on in the video as you were setting up the Navy - Ernest King - was Chief of Naval Operations prior to and during WWII. They kept him in DC because of his causticity, and although he did go to sea from time to time (for example going with FDR to the Tehran Conference), he didn't command battle groups or fleets. Instead he commanded the entire US Navy, all at once.

It's looking good for you! My parallel play-through (with DLCs) is in a similar position on 16 March, when I have saved and halted. I got Denmark, Belgium, Holland and Luxemburg really quickly, and France has just capitulated. I went historical and accepted a Vichy France (mainly because it acts as a decent buffer). Next for me is Norway - I'll launch in a few days, and then Cairo and Israel via Tobruk. I will be fascinated to see if in your no-DLC game the UK ends up defending East Africa and the Belgium Congo with 40+ divisions. I am SURE that will happen to me. Drives me insane, there's NO supply at all around there, but I KNOW if I don't kick the Allies out of Africa Italy will mess up and we'll lose Cairo. I have a feeling the English Channel will become the Battle of Britain, and the UK will somehow out-produce me in fighters! I am behind you in submarine numbers, so will wait a few months to try your naval blockade strategy. Good luck!

By the way, will you be invading Denmark and Norway soon? The reason I ask is because the Germans actually invaded Denmark first before invading France and the Low Countries.
