Finally got my Venom Running, it has been a bit of a chore but it's going. Now converted to Thorspark Ignition, already had a 12v Alternator when I bought it. May sell it now, too stressful!

For a whole host of reasons there was only a few Nortons this weekend so full marks to those who braved the weather on their Nortons!! Mrs R and I took Guzzi's to make it a chilled weekend but the rain done for the MK3 Lemans and I had to go back for it in the van of shame on Tuesday!! This is just a taste of the trip and the weekend.

Struth Gino , what's that blue colour beyond those white cloud formations 😅
Hi Fred, I dunno, thought you could help me out there? I see it often in Australia 🤣
Well done Gino. #Caledonian Biker
Cheers Jon!
The pair of will have driven on better surfaces in third world countries!
For sure Iain, the roads are getting worse, saw loads of supercars at the weekend, wouldn't like to be in them trying to navigate the potholes and crap repairs
It was a braw weekend, thanks for allowing a BM to join the fun.
Great to have you along mate
Picked a great time with the weather Glencoe looked busy a lot more people seem to be about these days 😮
Thanks for taking us along Some super scenery..and the sun 🌞 was with you. Bet you glad it was not this coming weekend...rain rain and mair rain Stay safe..and have a great year
aye unusually sunny and warm, and almost midge free. Ah well back to the rain for the summer then
Why no Scottish rally in 2024 ?
There is, next weekend! If you want to go get in touch via E mail, gino rondelli at gmail dot com (name all one word) I wont be there but i can put you in touch with the organiser
Sidecar dog understands why we do this stuff .
Nice🙌. Just bought a 2000 Jackal here in its namesake, California. Excited to get to know it. Ride safe.
We sold it as we have too many Guzzis, a very nice bike with amazing power, very underrated, I'm sure you will enjoy it
Sounds beautiful! I'm looking for one for myself and will have that engine note in mind.
It's for sale ! Bought another bike and something has to go
I trust you’re not selling the Commando? What age is the Venom? I’m assuming you’ve done a bit to it but can’t find any other videos - are they out there? Dave
I bought it 2 years ago thinking I could be a velo fellow but it's not for me, nice thing to ride but still don't have the knack of starting it. I put a thorspark ignition on it as the mag was a bit hit and miss. Before you buy one have a look at the palaver required to start it. I will never make a velo salesman 😂 Commandos are for riding not selling 😂
Looking and sounding great..!!
Nice pipe and sounding braw 👌
My dad had a '59 Venom, I was too wee then to remember it but he really loved/hated that machine. He described the engine that it was unlike any other but it could 'go' and had the staying power beat off all others. Yours looks and sounds fantastic.
Aye well I hate mines most of the time 😂😂
A braw bay for it on Sunday, Sh-- since and wouldn't have been good on Monday I don't think.
Exactly Budge, away tomorrow for a scoot roond Scotland, enjoy your weekend
Braw indeed, you both always seem to have the perfect bike for your days out.
na, just dinnae show it when it's crap! Which has been more often than not recently! Norton meeting at Comrie 7th April?
Nice day out,cold but nice🥰
Thanks
Check out Panther Club Rally . Long trip for ye but wall to wall outfits and helluva laff
I will , thanks, always hankered after a panther
Nice scenery, roads look fun.
thanks, the scenery is nice when its not raining !
Should come off nicely if you are using a copper head gasket.
i never use copper gaskets, never managed a good seal with them no matter how much I prepare them.
Rode Nortons over here in Colorado back in the '70s and '80s, the perfect bike for enjoying the varied roads of the Rocky Mountains...Oh, the joy.
I've ridden in Colorado, not on a Commando but I know what your saying 😊
not the bike in the picture
Confused?
initially they showed a single cylinder machine but the ride is not on a single.@@mvd944l
not sparing the horses is she!
No she never does!
why this stupid music ? only te music of the engine ..
Nice! Come to Japan Gino. The roads are made for 2 wheels!
We want to go there sometime, It's on the list! We were planing a trip across Russia just before Covid hit and looked at a ferry from South Korea to Japan.
Did you feel younger after yer 7 second dip in the cauld water ? 😅 Some beautiful scenery.. thanks for sharing
No, i just felt colder ha ha. Thanks
Great vid, shame we couldn't hear those lovely engines.
There was to much wind noise, hence the music, must try harder, I know
Few better sounds than a Commando - but all we heard is someones record collection
Absolutely stunning bikes ridden in style on grand roads....I remember drooling over a Production Racer? In Shaws Motorcycles Mill Street 1971ish
I knew about Shaws but unfortunately was never in there, they had a place in bridgend which I was in trying to buy a bike when I was still at school
Yes they moved there after Mill Street, the guy that had the new Norton which I don't think was a genuine Production Racer was Shaw's mechanic George? I don't think he went over to Bridgend it was about then I got scunnered with my regular visits with a broken down new BSA , So it was Mr Buchan who took my big end knocking BSA plus £30 in exchange for a new Honda. with
@@oldfella4096 So was that the same George that then worked for Buchans? Had a visit from Donald a couple of weeks ago
I don't recall Shaw's mechanic George? Working at Buchans but he may have done I remembered Donald's mechanic was Norrie Barlass
@@oldfella4096 Maybe a different George, I know Norrie well
I will refrain from any “ Taken up the Trossachs” comments Nice vid and accompanying soundtrack Don’t recognise it from the Sunburst Disco playlist X
Thanks Iain, was through Comrie yesterday on the bike. You have a good memory, the old Sunburst Disco days . The track is from an Edinburgh band called the Alibi's, the lead singer was a friend of ours. Really good band. As for the Taking it up the Trossachs I'll just leave it there
A grand video Gino and Fiona. Lovely to watch those two Nortons. I knew two guys in the '70s that used to run them, one of them was a JP Commando, a beautiful machine. Had a short run on one and never forgot that muscly torquey pull of the engine.
Brilliant!
Cheers Tim
Thanks for sharing I bought a new Norton Interstate 850 Mk 2A back in 1974. ...£815.00 😊
I could never afford a new one, my first one bought s/h from a friend was £650
A great video of some of your 2023 riding year, I was almost tempted to have a run on the BM today but it was chucking it down so fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Cheers budge, spotted you today trying to get the mileage up on the BMW, thought the Morini was the Winter bike?
Just out test riding a new jacket😁 and the BM needed a wash anyway, I did 90 miles and you two were the only other bikes I saw.
Great round up... What's your average mileage each year, bearing in mind the national average is 3,500mls sad but true, Has the man with the whiskers (Peter) called it a day from hanging of sidecars and solos, seem to remember him keeping the guy who mixed up plaslter of paris fairly busy.😂
Not sure but I would think 15000 all told, I dont keep a tally really . Aye Budge is a BMW fan now, enjoying life without the pressures of Racing...
Thanks for sharing.. You will be wishing you had that warm sunny weather just now.. .. instead of this Scottish crap we have been experiencing recently Stay safe
Hi Andrew, was out today, wet and Dreich, I kept saying to Fiona "why aren't we in a warm country"
@@mvd944l Must be in oor blood, the love of cloudy, cauld and dreich weather..lol Back in 2010 spent most of the year touring France, based in Mid Pyrenees... sampling the wine and scenery. I bet at 49secs it all looked like Lochearnhead again .... except for the banana trees!
John, everywhere looks like lochearnhead, i will maybe have a look for places round the world that looks like Lochearn, is there nae banna trees at St Fillans? :-)

Great round up Gino. Always enjoy you and Fiona"s adventures in all weathers. Hats off to you both.
cheers bill
Great video Gino, especially the trip around Switzerland, and where exactly was the Moto Guzzi Museum? That looked really interesting, especially the engines, I need to add that to my car museum tour next year I think 😊
Hi Dave, the museum is part of the factory in Mandello Del Lario, it's only open from 3 until 4pm every day (I think that being extended I hope) Really nice area, avoid August (everybody is on Holiday) and the first or second weekend in September where they have the factory open weekend, impossible to get accommodation and very busy, stunning area, I'd recommend Bellagio to stay (Super nice but expensive) and get the ferry over the lake Mandello is nice as well, it's all nice......
Thanks Gino, appreciated, and thanks for the info 👍
Superb Gino & Fiona, really enjoyed your video trip from Italy to Holland…very beautiful scenery and hardly a pothole to be seen…👍
Indeed Bill, even the dodgy Italian roads were a pleasure!
Great video, really enjoyed this one. Great scenery, commentry and music. I really felt as though I was back in Lochearnhead. And also, I loved that der grossen baccy machine of Thomas. Thank you Gino.
Aye John, I was up there a week ago and it was gey Dreich (Lochearnhead that is) I dinnae smoke but I would definitely have one of them if I did, strange they sell the baccy for the machines in the gas stations (the cheapest place)
Lochearnhead !!!! ...lol... .... thanks for sharing your adventures Stay safe !!!
Well almost Loch Earn...., thanks for watching
Thanks Gino and Fiona. Again, I SO enjoyed this with a dram. Now, my problem; am I addicted to your videos or to the whisky? I suspect the former. You are both so patient. When I left the army, I swore I would NEVER do three things, ever again. 1. Run. For anything. Ever. 2. Make my bed. Ever. 3. Camp. Never, ever, ever, ever. So far, so good. But you two make it look like I may have been wrong. On reflection, no! I was wrong right enough. All the very best to you both. Thanks again!
Hi Robin, thanks for the comment, I was addicted to whisky but my stroke made me cut down, shame because it lets you see life in another dimension, most of our crazy trips have been planned after copious amounts of whisky. That trip was less than 2 months after my stroke, still had the droopy puss and terrible speech, the camping was difficult because I didn’t realise blood thinners makes you feel cold and it wasn’t warm at nights. Still that trip was a major milestone for me, proving that I could still do stupid things despite what the medical people said. Keep on keeping on, enjoy the Drams and have a go at camping, just not on the west coast and only when it’s warm, wouldn’t like to see you put off your new hobby because of midges and rain 😂 Gino
@@mvd944l Nah, no more loitering with in tent for me. I was eight years with Dewar’s and eighteen years with Famous Grouse. Love my whisky. It helps you to travel into the future. I drank a litre on Monday and woke up on Thursday.

Don't you have a telepeage? They are about €15 to own and it takes the money at the end of the month. I got mine from SCF because it has a UK office & increasingly you don't even have to stop, just slow down, for as the barrier. Besides its great watching people reaction when the 'stupid brit' goes down the telepeage channel... and you roar off
I don't, I think theyre probably a good idea but I am fed up with Toll roads so hopefully next year we can avoid them.
I have no idea where your going into Spain can I highly recommend Girona. There is a hotel on its outskirts that is the spitting Image of Tracy Island & there are so great chain motels in Salt that make staying in Girona cheap. And if you end up in the south of Spain can I highly recommend Carboneras. It's a jewel of a spanish town in the middle of the cabo de gata national park. Where all the spaghetti westerns were filmed Their may be lots of immigrant Brits there but you would never know it's nothing like the ex-pat communities that are outside the park.
The one time I met the ¿perifique? was because I was exhausted & besides telling the Sat Nav I wanted to stop on Rouen my driving partner was cursing my name as she did the drive around Paris. Which cost us an extra 3 hours & missing a great cafe in Rouen near the upside down boat shaped church built above the subterranean car park just down from the cathedral. I would give you the addy but the sat map is dead.
Hey Gino, The CZcams algorithm pointed you at me, and its actually really good at finding estoric channels I might like. So I thought I should subscribe because it will be fun to watch your tour of Europe whilst for me a big adventure is finding out what the upstairs of my home looks like & what colour my skin will be after I have a shower! 😂 The other subscription (I subscribed in two different places) is because it takes ages to build up a channel ( I might drop out when you hit your silver or gold play button (that's 100,000 & a million subscribers respectivly) 😊 Is it OK to give feedback about your videos, about their sound etc & chat to you about the nitty gritty of things like CZcams channel creation? Best wishes for your ride Unless it has already happened and your back home in the warm. Editing the videos Either way Thankyou for the en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mudita I am likely to feel Best Wishes
Another captivating idea. Hard job but someone has to do it.
It is indeed 🙂
