I belive they are both using the dunlop ice custom elite raquet
Thanks so much great match.
Good match thanks.
The ref at the end was definitely making a lot of errors at Jansher's expense. He was out of his league referring that game. You could see he was nervous. And that led to the repeated let decisions when he should have decided on No Let or Stroke. Notice how most of his decisions were Lets? Very poor refereeing.
I was there.
Great match played well.
Whoever edited this video is a genius!
13:57 it’s crazy to give a let ! No way it’s definitely a no let
Fantastic match thanks.
I suspect that playing Barker is similar to playing David Palmer, brutal. Skål!
The decisions at 30.15 and at 34.07 were terrible. One was clearly above the tin and the other was sufficient interference to warrant a let ball
Too many strokes are decided as let. power's anger is reasonable.
Better days
Never seen Thierry so happy to win, he is truly one of the all time greats. Barker is a very tough lefty and has played against some of the best in the world.
Sooooooo many lets. Terrible game
Thierry is such a fluid mover is just like hopping here and there and everywhere. The constantly backing commentators made it quite irritating all the time tilting their commentary in powers favors and last of all there were few extremely pathetic decisions by the referees though understandable from the pov of those days
Every shot Thierry plays is so unpredictable as to where it is going that kept Shabana unsettled and on the run most of the times but after the first game Thierry lost his touch and from the third Shabana was mostly in control though he was still busy guessing Thierry's next shot
That was an entertaining match. I couldn’t help but crack up some of the times Gaultier smashed the tin when he had an easily winning shot. Not hitting the tin so much is something Gaultier really improved upon later in his career. The refereeing was pretty poor. Far too many lets. Didn’t set the right tone to make the players clear, which should be done from the beginning of the match. Just give a warning and stroke if necessary, and they’ll clear like rabbits.
It’s great to see these matches, especially when you can see the ball. This must be shortly before Palmer retired. I was fortunate to get to see him play live. One area where the reffing has improved is they used to give lets for anything, whereas now a lot of these would be no lets, which makes for better viewing.
Alas, they also give strokes for some of those lets. 0 sum and more contentious. Play the ball....
Lincou, what a cheat, looking for every possible way of getting a cheap point!
Joey commenting..
Squash is a horrible game. It makes competitors hate each other, and the umpires as well. Squash is nice to play socially against friends or practice alone on a court for fitness. How do I know? After many decades, and knowing that competitors are not home friends. Many tennis players and athletes etc were frieds.
is there a ball? Or is this just a ghosting match?
Good to find a full John White match here. One of my absolute faves; crisp stroke player,
Superb banshee-like screeching from the victor
Quite many contentious lets to gaultier. He was clear to hit but didn't. In the current rules they'd all have been no lets
Great match, really insightful to hear from the coaches during the match and then see if the players can implement the advice. Giving up the fourth game often portends fifth game defeat in my experience!
Always a treat to see Ramy's wizardry with the racket, I also enjoyed White's crocodile-like tranquility switching into incredible power and creativity. Not such a fan of him hitting the ball out of the court repeatedly, or the slightly breathless commentary.
That was delightful. Palmer always seemed to take soft lets and in this match he looked like he was blocking access whenever he hit something weak as well - still can you blame him when the refs pandered to it? Amazing calmness from 10-6 down in the fifth, his share of the $100k prize fund on the line, Palmer goes straight through to 12-10. Great to see a young(er) John Mozzarella in the chair too :D
Can anyone remember what that head racket the David palmer was called?
네 헤드에서 나온 라켓인데 빨간색이고 open throat 이고 무게는 120g정도 됩니다. 아주 오래전에 나온 라켓이죠. 근데 라켓이 너무 약해서 잘 깨지는게 흠이었죠.
Power always was a pr**k. Looking for lets instead of playing through. Excuses...
Little cameo from baby Olivia Blatchford (Clyne) at 0:59:06 who herself just retired a couple weeks ago. Time flies!
Referee makes an error in the score after Shabana wins a point at 4-5 in the first game and no one seems to have picked it up. Big impact on momentum.
Solid hit. Thanks for the vid.
John white not a good sportsman, he can only hit the ball hard
Greg certainly bossed Amr in this encounter; he never really looked stretched. You'd never guess that Amr was world number 1 on this outing.
Nicol, great fitness as usual. Terrible hair; no time for the barber?
Palmer was superb in games 2 and 3 then ran out of gas (he retired not long after). I love his technique on the backhand side lifting topspins then taking volleys off the side wall. Class.
Strokes when there let’s, Lets when there strokes piss poor marking as usual.
Of its time. Things change...
Marking was awful.
sry Power, I know you re a great player and that you're way more mature now and changed, but you do come off here as an arrogant jerk. The John McEnroe of squash. Talented as hell, but a mouthtful 😂
Great post. Mind including footage of the ball?
Nice one!
12:21 power wins the rally, power serves, but nicol got the point? Hows that?
Wonderful memories ! Thank you very much 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! Lucky you, you got to see Khan's last PSA match and Nicol's rise to the top.
I don't like Terry. He acts like the biggest drama queen when his opponent doesn't flawlessly make room for him, and then audaciously claims anything he possibly can without hesitation
I'm not a big Thierry fan either, but credit where credit is due, he did manage to win major titles against the top players during his time. I always thought he took too much space with his stance and his swing as a tactic to mess with his opponents but many top players do this too.
2:05 minute rally at 1:03:48, corner to corner. One of the all time greats.
Absolutely, it shows how much both players wanted to win that match. Amr and Peter moved so well!
Jeeez lincou was a fragile little thing wasnt he
Such a great guitar.👏👏🎶
It really is! So easy to play and sounds great to my ears.
Just Love Palmers technique its so pleasing watching him play. Hes so strong and has such a clear perception of THE game really textbook play but struggling a Little with his heavy frame in the long run.
I also love David Palmer's game, mainly for his mental strength and for his solid technique. Watch some of his 2003-2008 matches, he had some great classic battles with Nicol, Power, Shabana, Willstrop, Beachill and Lincou. Those were the days!

I saw him win his first junior title age 11 he played Ryan McDonald and won easily, he was unseeded but everyone who saw it knew he was special
