Spark Plug is like 100$ and take 10 minutes to replace, mine does the same (Lexus ct 200h) they just told me its not the Head gasket but the intake manifold gasket

why was it necessary to remove the valve train/cam?

I just finished and all fixed up (took me 3 days :) 2014 with 205k a) watch their older video as well but use this (has different details) but I would skip putting shop towel to prevent timing rotation (not used in this one) as I still got it to rotate somehow and take time doing it. b) love the hint about leaving out one of egr pipe lug+nut. I did cleaning 5 years ago and forgot how painfull it is to acess that lower back one. should be so much easier 50k from now :) c) I still supported the engine (push oil pan up). seems like it drops a lot otherwise (tension on transmission axle ?) and you will learn on the engine to reach the back as well... d) make sure to get 201518_2010_Toyota_Prius_Repair_Manual_-_Cylinder_Head.pdf as it has all the torque spec you will need! only missing is engine mount (70ft/lbs for big bolts and 38ft/lbs for smaller bottom nut) take you time and clean it good. Only wish I knew if I could have rotated the cyclinder to clean 2 & 3 that were at bottom stoke... did partial clean.

Man thanks for your video. I just finished the job and it wont start. It says “check hybrid system stop the vehicle in a safe place” My 12v battery did die and I gave it a little charge. I wonder if I need to fully charge the 12v?

What is the extact model engine you used. I had my engine replace but blew a gead gasket and was using this video to help fix but now my engine is a different model then my acutal prius but this Engine matches my engine perfectly.

Sinds there is a leak inside the cat converter, would there not escape exhaust gases from the CC into the hoses? Might want to plug up those openings?

Question, I did the job and now I have a p0016 code, camshaft correlation sensor A bank 1. Do you know what could be causing it? The paper towels in the camshaft, I took them out, but i can't remember if it was before or after I manually spun the crank to engage the tensioner. Would I have been able to spin the chain with those towels in place? I was thinking I might have gotten it out of time that way. It's weird because it's saying only 1 camshaft is out of sync. If I messed up the timing chain install, I feel like it would throw both cams out of sync, not just the one. It doesn't run weird, it has a rough idle for the first half a second then runs fine, it hasn't lost power or fuel efficiency (at least noticeably). Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just bought a 2000 Civic I got screwed it runs and drives no leaks but I found oil smudge in the overflow. A valve cover bolt was broken. Makes a tapping noise when warmed up

You skipped the worst part. Removing the two stuck bolts holding the starter on. Would love to see how you did that. Been trying for an hour to break them loose on mine.

Is there after market head gasket made from better materials, ?? I used to use copper material mixed into glue type substance head gasket sealer on inline four motorcycles when putting those together in 80s ... is that still around...

are you supposed to let the gasket sealer dry before putting the timing cover back on?

is sending the head to the machine shop necessary? i.e., if you don't have a head gasket leak to start with. If it is simply a job to change the head gasket as part of servicing?

Great explanation… Thank you. I have noticed from some of your other videos that you can do a head gasket in a day. That obviously means that you do not take it to a machine shop and have the head ground flat. Do you find that in the case where it just starts using Excess coolant that the head does not need to be machined?

Hey thanks guys for making this video. I was able to successfully replace the head gasket on my lexus ct200h! Car runs great, no problems. I went the extra mile on a few other things as well. P.s. egr is way easier to remove/install if valve cover is off.

Did you guys have the heads resurfaced? Watched orher videos saying its not a good idea on timing chain engines becuase it will throw timing codes because timing might not lign up.

Do the 2021 Prius have Headgasket issues? Or Coolant in exhaust issue?

At 24:10 when you tighten the cam assembly down the front cam gear spins forward. Other videos show locking cams down w paper towels. Looks and sounds like timing chain/timing was effortless even though the cam rotated forward when tightening down. Thanks for the video!

In the middle of this job right now. Is it crucial to note which order the stem caps and hydraulic lifters are in before removing them? The guy at the machine shop removed all of them and stuck in a bag.

i thought the 2011 forester came with aa fb25 engine with timing chain, this looks like an ej engine from a 2010
