@@ToyotaSupbra Thanks for highlighting that! Meant to mention it as a follow up comment as I was inquiring about that interaction myself afterwards. Always fun playing with new cards, but definitely leads to some confusion early on as people get familiar with the new interactions.

@@LondonHunt-d3w in drafts and sealed, there are no color restrictions which allows more freedom for deck building.

@@taptorwa not this time as I had forgotten my stand so just recorded the deck building. Will be recording my gameplay tonight.

Sigh. Good catch. I actually only put 2 on as I was suppose to put a 5 and a 2 since I was doing increments of 5 for the dice. Thanks for pointing it out and why I need to get an actual counter instead of using pips. My normal method is my phone or a notepad when I’m playing in more competitive settings, but since I have started recording the games, that takes away the phone. Appreciate the comment and helps me to do better.

@@xelephanor1404 Yeah, dice is tricky! I usually use an app, there are a few now that are specifically made for SWU. Your opponent had an interesting deck, spectre synergy in a Sabine deck, I've never seen that. I'm really enjoying your videos, it's fascinating to watch draft from first person perspective! 👍

Honestly, if I saw some more power cards in blue/heroism, I would have. Takedown, Vanquish, Yoda, Dodonna, Kanan, or Ghost would have led me to commit harder while picking up those Battlefield Marines. When I finally saw the Kanan, it was a little too late to pivot again.

@@xelephanor1404 that’s fair. I do wonder if going repairs and other heals is a viable way to go in draft with him. You know you will always have chirrut on his flip turn

@@patrickduke5964Fair. Not too sure how to optimize him without leaning hard into upgrades and heals. Even then, he’s so susceptible to removal. Reviewing my game matches, I went up against Blue Boba, Blue Sabine, Blue Sabine, and the 3-0 pod winner was Green Krennic. I’m glad I pivoted away from Chirrut as this explains the dearth of the Blue power cards.

Thanks for watching. My opponent actually is a great guy. He’s the one who taught me the game and he helped get me a lot of bulk to start off my collection when product was scarce. We’ve played each other numerous times between Lorcana and SWU and he’s always been awesome and helpful.

Agreed. Was thinking Leia normally has initiative so the sustain from the Starvipers would help. Needed more rebels though.

Do you have a ruling on that as I don’t see why it doesn’t work with tapped units?

Of course it works on tapped units, to all units, ground, space or leader. Since it is not an attack, it works every time.

Whoa! Good catch! I am too used to scry abilities on attack from Lorcana that I forgot this ability is only on play and on defeated. Funny thing is my opponent plays a lot as this is his main tcg and has done several showdowns so we both had a huge brainfart on this.

It’s a phone and an OCyclone stand. Not as nice as those setups that show both sides of the board cleanly, but at least this way, my hand is demonstrated cleanly.

@@xelephanor1404 I prefer this way I think. Top down often has horrible glare making it tough to see. And I think it’s interesting to see your thought process with cards in hand, resourced, etc.

Nice catch. Yeah, I wanted to lean into Boba with a backstop of IG-88 especially when I saw Imperial Interceptor and Ruthless Raider in back to back packs. However, once I saw heroes especially two Dodonnas kept getting passed to me, I pivoted to Command Heroes. Aggression pairs nicely with Leia and I should have committed more to aggro and rebels than I did.

​@@xelephanor1404 Yeah I also thought that while watching. Would have for sure picked Battlefield marines over the 2nd starviper and would not have played resuply in this deck. Thanks for the vide9. Was fun to watch

Yeah, the extra marine would have been better with Leia since it has the best stats of any 2 drop while also having the rebel trait. I underestimated how much space I would be able to get. The resupply was more of a sneaky way to cheat out Leia a turn early. It helped me in game 2, but wasn’t as impactful as I would have thought.

Leia is such a strong draft deck if you have a lane on rebels.

Yeah. I was definitely regretting that pass considering all the green black cards available throughout the draft.

Thanks. Honestly, the game would have gone completely different if he had attacked the alliance dispatcher with his probe droid on T2. That allowed me to even have a T2 play with Wampa.

It’s such a powerful card that I would try to force yellow if that’s an early pick.

Yeah, we have a consistent group of people here for drafts. My only losses in the past two drafts have been to the exact same person. This last draft, he was seated two seats to the left of me and on Palpatine and two Leias for his selection of leaders. When I passes two Leia’s from my leader selection, I was hoping it would help dilute the green pool. Unfortunately, neither of them went with Leia so more green was available than I expected. It’s one of the reasons that I decided to pivot to green to deny some of the power cards from his pool. Luckily, when I chose to pass on Overwhelming Barrage to take the money card (Cunning), it was when packs were going to the right.

Good luck! Draft is my favorite format as it includes the skill of deck building and selection on the fly.

I do. Krennic, Tarkin and Leia are my top 3 with Boba close behind. I have not been able to use Jyn yet in draft so may need to force it one day, but she seems strong. I like Sabine also, especially if you can lean i to aggro early with her. As you can see from this draft, even with Tarkin in my selection pool, I had to make the decision to forgo him since I would have someone to the right of me with the other Tarkin. There were also two other Tarkins both to the left and right of me which made it a harder pick to commit to with the possibility of competing for the same colors. Surprisingly, none of the players ended up playing Tarkin.

Good question… Boba would have given me more flexibility in terms of color combinations depending on what cards were available. But in terms of power level, I prefer Tarkin with his ability to pump up Imperial Units and gain mismatches throughout the game. Boba can go wide quicker if you draft a lower curve to make use of his ability and he has a great statline of 4/7 on 5. But constantly being able to throw out +1/+1 with Tarkin can really snowball quickly. Also, with Leia as my first pick and sharing green with Tarkin, I felt like I had two top tier leaders so I could commit hard to green and shift to heroism or villainy depending on the card pool. Unfortunately, green power cards were not really prevalent in my early picks so had to commit to Red instead and build off of that.

Yeah… that was a nice surprise. Even was able to play him once.

The deck went 3-0 and was fun to play. Going low on curve worked great with Boba and allowed me to flood the board. I just had to be mindful of overwhelming barrage.

haha... definitely thought about it, but had to take the Takedown to get more control cards

I ended up 3-0 and winning the draft. Will need to look into a set up to record gameplay.

I went 2-0 in all three matches with the seventh fleet defender, interceptors, and the ruthless raider controlling the skies. What was a really powerful combination was playing crafty smuggler into fallen lightsaber. A 5/5 shielded character on T2 was difficult for opponents to remove efficiently.

Definitely. Draft is my favorite format as it's always a new experience each time with how you respond to your pod and what decisions are made on the fly.

Honestly, missing out of rogue skirmisher hurts here as that's such a powerful card and would have paired nicely with the echo base defender you mentioned for p1p1. Due to trying to avoid heroism, I went with Maximum Firepower since I had the Bounty Hunter Crew from p1p1, and I felt that I would see a good amount of villainy/imperial with the players to the left and right of me not having any villains in their selection pool. I'm still not sold on surprise strike since if I need to use it as removal, it's a 2 for 1, whereas the Maximum Firepower can typically take out a mid level unit and sometimes a leader while still leaving my units ready for an action.

Thanks for viewing. The echo base defender would have been a great pick if I was going Leia. I love leia but with the person to my left having all heroes (leia, hera, and jyn) and the person to my right having all heroes (Chewbacca, Han, and can't recall their 3rd hero), I wanted to lean into villainy early. Playing this card off aspect wouldn't be ideal so I wanted to snag bounty hunter crew early as there were two other boba's in the pod. This also allows me to keep an eye out for valuable events to recycle later on in the draft.
