Same here, only Chinese Masters from 45 to 87. In 1975 one of my Si Fu's at one point had 300 students in three schools. I am the only surviver and sole disciple. Nothing like real TCM. It is indisputable that Kung Fu is the grandfather and the others are the grandchildren. As my Master once said; "Kung Fu is a complete style. The only martial arts that incorporates striking, kicking, throwing, grappling, weapons, internal power training, mediation, herbs and acupuncture. Body mind and spirit.

You jumped the gun. We do spar and have sparred full contact for more than 45 years as part of our regular curriculum (not beginners). Street assaults do not occur like sparring. There's no guard, gloves or rules. A sudden gun in your face or a knife in your back, no times. The best cause for sparring is to condition you not to panic when you get hit but rather to act and react. My track record of success speaks for itself both in the ring for 13 years and as a school with more than 20,000 students in 5 decades of empowering people from all walks of life who have themselves achieved high levels of skill that have lead to multiple occurrences of effectively staving assaults including with firearms. If you have not experienced a real teacher and real martial arts which would show you what real power (without gloves) is, you can always join our school and see what it's all about. BTW, what I said is that the real purpose in traditional martial arts is specifically about reaching your highest level, not sports in a ring with gloves, rules and a reff. Thanks for the view.

@SIFUGCRIII Your video very much makes it sound like you USED to do full contact sparring but you do not do sparring anymore. That is the message portrayed by the words you spoke to people watching that do not know your school personally. You're right street assaults with a gun in your face or a knife in your back, sparring is not helpful. No martial art is. The best defense that can be taught there is that it is too late and you need to deescalate and comply to get away with your life. Clearly sparring is for practice against an unarmed opponent or at least an opponent that does not get the drop on you. You dont need to tell me about street assaults and how they happen, I have LEO knowledge about street assaults. I also have trained in martial arts from all perspectives including those that are mostly ART like the majority of Kung Fu disciplines, those that are mostly sport like WT TKD and some focused on actual self defense such as Krav Maga and ITF TKD. I know enough to admit where the weaknesses lie in real world application of martial arts, even those I have commited myself to. I do not hold anything against anyone for teaching any martial art if they are qualified, but to espouse that sparring is not important (much less completely VITAL) to real world conflict, is irresponsible and will lead to kids thinking they are more capable then they actually are. I have personally sparred with high degree black belts of certain martial arts that do not spar (the most egregious was Ninjitsu) and put them on the run easily, and I am far from what I would call a master in ANY martial art. I have diversified more than I would like to have, but at least I have the experience of what it is like to react to an attacker in real time. No amount of training against a bag or with forms is going to ever prepare someone for that. The saddest thing to see is someone desperately try to apply the forms, movements, blocks etc as they were taught to them, and be completely frustrated that they cannot make them work, because their opponent is not approaching them the way they are "supposed to". And that's on a mat where the worst thing hurt is pride.

I am making an point concerning the safety of kids being told they can bring down an attacker with one strike without ever having even sparred against anyone in real time. No, none of your baseless assertions about me are correct. Thank you for the personal attack though. Yes, I do prefer kids sparring early after learning the basics. If a kid has been training for over a year, they should be ready for sparring, just as myself at the age of 7 and many others safely did in my ITF dojang as a kid, but I never said it has to happen in a martial art. Your strawman argument is pointless. I am only disputing the act of telling kids that sparring is not important to being able to handle a real life conflict. This is just factually incorrect and a dangerous belief to instill in childrens heads. Not sure why you felt it necessary to come in here and come at me when I never was addressing you in the first place, but have a great day 🙏🏻
