what is required to do this turbo swap? I may have to replace mine soon and I don't know what to buy for a relatively stock engine. I am putting a 4 in exhaust on my 93 6.5 and I am getting some oil through my turbo into the intake. I swapped oil cooler lines, put new starter, battery, plugs, block heater etc. in it when I bought it. Just trying to get it reliable by winter and I am not super familiar with turbo troubleshooting. Is that a sign of a bad turbo? I don't of have great oil pressure either... but I am not really low on oil. Just trying to learn about these because it is has been a great truck so far.

GS- Looked on rockauto for the balancer and pulley. They don't list AC Delco but have an ATP Greywerks HB and pulley. Any opinion on quality? 1994 Chevy, K3500 4 WD, 6.5 turbo. GS- Thanks for the fast response. Up to my ears in wrenching learning curve [never did injectors before] and posting a you tube wasn't on todays schedule but will look into it. This noise was very sudden not gradual. CZcams research on the issue indicated possible harmonic balancer, but a few local diesel guys first response was fuel knock [though they were on the phone and hadn't heard the noise just my description]. Can't get any of the CL mobile "mechanics" to even show up for good money just to diagnose so I'm on my own. Glad I've found your tutorials. Plan is to crack each injector and see if the noise goes away. I'm told that's the most reliable diagnostic. My concern is running the engine with this noise to do that- don't want to do more potential damage. Ah well, maybe get lucky. After all, what's the worse that could happen [he wondered]. Letting her breathe correctly and making sure maintenance items are up to date. That'll be after I replace the head gaskets since it has a blown one since it had a stock turbo pushing slighy higher boost in a otherwise stock configuration. Has a heath tune at least for now too which might not have helped. At least I bought her for dirt cheap, only paid $560 for her and everything else appears intact. Any chance someone could help with a photo that shows how the pmd is hard wire. Purchase a truck that is wire incorrectly and on line wire does not help

Do you have a troubleshooting video for no start? I’ve got a 99 GMC 2500. 6.5. It had 1214 code. Injection pump timing offset. Scanner said most likely fix is replacing Crankshaft position sensor. So I drive the truck a couple weeks. Few hundred miles. Turn it off at the gas station, and it never starts again. Turns over just fine, just don’t fire. So I replaced the crankshaft sensor. Nothing. I replaced and relocated the PMD. Nothing. Unplugged optical sensor, nothing. It just turns over endlessly. Won’t star. Also tried to jump the glow plug relay. Nothing. Just turns over.

@@busdriver4571 that’s the injection pump being too far out of time from someone changing it before you. Or the pump itself has failed. The crank position sensor won’t fix that. I started making a no start guide but I never had a chance to finish it.

@@gingersnapcustoms kind aggravates me because I bought this scan tool. And it gave me that code and said the most likely fix was crankshaft position sensor. So I go through all that for nothing. This was a county school system truck. So had good maintenance, but nothing extra. PMD was in original spot and everything. 148,000 miles I just assumed was great on a diesel. Lol
