Officer South Rd is closed and removed as of now (All equipment is removed, and level crossing is blocked off by fences and access gates) Station St/Kenilworth Ave level crossing is still there, the LXRA is still working on the overpass, but nowhere near done as of now. Progress on the overpass looks pretty good, I think they got the overpass section above the rail corridor put in while buses were replacing trains last week or so (Btw Station St/Kenilworth Ave is in Beaconsfield, Brunt Rd is the one located in Officer, which has also got equipment removed and closed off)

Wait there was a Type 1 there before? Or was it a Type 1 Adjusted? Either way I wasn’t aware 🫤

Oof, that sucks :( Same thing happened to me, I was planning to visit Melba Ave in Lilydale, but turns out it got closed off so I didn’t get to film it Only footage of it that I have is a phone recording which I put up on my other channel because it’s not really great

Yep those LED lights get pretty bright I agree with you in that E-Bells are pretty boring, they just get really generic sounding especially when like 90% of crossings have them

Actually I'm pretty sure the crossing equipment would've been removed just 2 days ago on Monday, as trains are being replaced by buses until Pakenham opens. It'll be cool to see the N Classes on the new Skyrail, but yeah it will be sad once N Classes stop running revenue services

Yeah, that’s possible, I just have to find some time, as I’m planning to finish filming all the crossings listed on the LXRP first (before they’re gone), and then I should be able to make my way down to Stony Point. Only really limiting factors are that: 1: I’m only able to access crossings via PT (most of the time) 2: Stony Point Line has abysmal frequencies Although with lots of spare time that shouldn’t be a problem Thanks for the recommendation :)

Thanks! I was planning to go take a bit more footage, but I didn’t realise it was too late because there’s Coach replacements for the Gippsland line, but these clips will do I guess. Although thinking about it now, Metro probably still uses the crossing for stabling trains at East Pakenham during the off-peak periods Also I definitely agree with you in that the road is really busy, the times I was there the traffic would be going by nonstop for a good 5-10 minutes or so 😅

Yeah, I was suprised as it was the first time I had seen them before, so I would say they’re pretty rare. I was honestly just expecting the crossing to have the usual Westinghouse crossarms, lights, etc

Not really, I just felt like documenting it as it was a coincidence while filming this crossing; but yeah the crossing will be gone in a few months

Yeah, I guess so, my guess is that the train was stopped at a red signal waiting for a free platform at Pakenham Station, while also on the crossing circuit. After a while, the crossing timed out as the train didn’t move for 2 minutes or so, then reactivated when the train started moving again.

Are you crazy, this sort of bad functioning causes people to drive around the gates and other unsafe attitudes to railway warnings.

While I do agree with you in that it may encourage people to drive around the gates, in my experience, in Melbourne, I have never seen someone drive around boom gates. The most ‘risky’ thing I have seen is just running through the crossing when the lights activate but the booms haven’t gone down, or at a crossing without gates. However, my perspective is only from a Victorian one, so the attitude to level crossings in other states/countries may be different.

I don’t really have an exact date other than this year (2024), but the station looks like it’s still in the middle of being built, although the rail viaducts seem practically done, other than a bit of electrical wiring.

Yes, once both of the flyover tracks are completed, the level crossing will be removed, with the trains running overhead.
