I hate when people can't understand nuance; James wasn't all good, or Serious. Snape was also flawed. What they had in common was that, despite the transgressions of their youth or the flaws they still carried, they acted toward a single cause. It's not all black and white. But what Snape did, forsaking any reputable reputation and cleverly balancing a ruse for decades, was incredibly self-sacrificing. It's easy to sacrifice in a moment but, to sacrifice for decades?
