$3500 is Apple price gouging customers again because of the brand name. They could do what Steam did for $999 but that wouldn't be apple. For the same price as one Vision Pro you could buy 3 of them headsets from valve and the one from facebook with money left over and that's insane. Especially when the economy sucks! It was a stupid move that I believe hurt their brand.

The AVP is incredibly good and far superior in multiple ways, to the Quest interface. Pricing is a different although valid consideration. What I’ve seen and heard about Quest models makes me uninterested unfortunately - especially since I am not a Mac guy. So, I’d like to have my of experience in the VR space. AVP apps facilitate this but it seems to have room for improvement.

Ok. If I made a crappy bike that stole your data for me to profit on and they guy next door made one of carbon fiber that didn’t steal your data but was a bit more expensive since it’s the developer product and not the public one. I’d say it was no good because they are starting out far ahead of where I was. I have no respect for a man who is involved in as many shady things as zuck

A friend let me play with the Quest 2 for a few days. I was hooked. I bought the Quest 3 and play "In Death unchained" around the clock. I am also looking for future versions of the Vision pro. I would love to paint and sculpt with the Apple device.

I still don't understand why Apple made their VR headset around productivity first over gaming. VR is catching on, but it is still a niche market and for people that desire a VR office strapped to their head is extremely niche. Apple could've blown the competition away with a dedicated VR gaming headset like the Quest 3... but chose not to. So much wasted potential - Weird.

Good point. Apple strength has never been gaming, especially on the Mac. Even though they advertise the M-series chips as graphically capable, there are hardly any games on it and the ones that are supported don't run really well. iOS gaming is bigger, mostly on the iPhone though. I think building it around productivity is something they were more comfortable with. Lastly, potentially easier to justify the pricetag if it's work-related, rather than just for fun. With that said, I'm working on making a few VR game environment tests for the Vision Pro - curious how it performs. Pretty sure I'll make a video about it :)

You just answered your own question, vr gaming is still a niche market. Gaming in general is still somewhat niche, but the promise of high quality VR/MR entertainment/productivity with the traditional Apple quality and refinement has mass appeal, see the difference?

If Apple wanted to enter the AR/VR gaming sector, they would, but they aren’t. They see beyond the gaming capability of a computer on board a headset. They are pushing what an HMD can do with mass adoption. When concentrating only on one functionality, you miss out on the vast undiscovered potential.
