Motorcycle CRASH! I got REAR ENDED by distracted driver...
Please read for more context...
At the time of this recording (September 2023), I was a very new rider and had been riding my brand new KTM Duke 125 for ONLY 9 DAYS before this incident happened!
It was my Wednesday morning commute to work at around 8am. As I approched the Zebra crossing, I noticed a pedestrian was about to cross and so I decided to wait as I was in no rush. As I looked down to turn off my signal (9 days of riding meant that muscle memory hadn't developed yet), I got rear ended by a distracted driver.
It's not clear what the driver was distracted by after reviewing the footage, but I did notice a packet of cigarettes on his passenger seat so I am purely speculating that he was reaching for them or something else. I did not see a mobile phone and did not question him about it (rookie mistake).
Fortunately, the impact was minor and at a slow speed, however, it was enough to force me to lose control and drop my bike. The impact caused temporary pain in my hands because I gripped the handlebars too tightly (new rider mistake). Thankfully, no other injuries or whiplash was sustained. However, the bike was damaged (mostly cosmetic) and I owned that bike for only 2 weeks.
I exchanged details and insurance with the driver and he agreed to pay out in full himself. However, after days of back and forth, his insurers reached out to me and agreed to settle and pay for damages.
I took the bike to a mechanic shop to inspect the damages and they quoted me roughly £321. Full list of damages as follows:
1. Licence Plate Holder - £30.90
2. Gear shift lever - £40.75
3. Clutch lever - £27
4. Front footpeg - £23
5. Labour - £200 (I know, don't ask why, that's what they quoted lol).
Since then, all legal and financial process were resolved...
And most importantly, this incident hasn't discouraged me from riding and I still enjoy doing so for both commuting and social rides!

sure
I had looked at this for so long in the compilation thinking why would you stop there, no-one looks like they wanna cross. Read your description and looked closer, seen the guy crossing I somehow missed probably along with the guy in the van. Glad all was resolved, hope you get back on the road.
Yeah, technically I didn't need to stop as the pedestrian wasn't exactly waiting to cross. Highway code says "you should give way to pedestrians waiting to cross. But you MUST give way when a pedestrian has moved onto a crossing" But because I saw them approach and wasn't in a hurry to get anywhere I stopped. And just before I get hit, you can clearly see them walking across it. I'm still riding to this day!
Hey man. Good to feature it? Full credits, thanks in advance!
sure

Aha dude :( this sucks especially since you just had it only 9 days from the accident happening! Incompetent driving from the guy with the van. Glad you had no major injuries! p.s would love to see some full motovlogs from you! Think that would be pretty sweeet
Not sure about motovlogging but I do plan on making longer videos of rides using a audio recorder for the exhaust. I may 'vlog' my journey through Mod 1 and 2 training and the test.
Hey! May I feature this video in my next episode? Watermarked and linked to your channel ofc
Sure, please send me the link when you use it.

Was this shot in the Dji? Saw your comment from imkay video :) Looks like pretty damn good quality! Thinking of getting one myself. Would you recommend? p.s I hope yer ballsack is recovered from that pothole lol!
Yeah DJI Osmo Action 4. CZcams video doesn't do it justice but the quality especially at night is the best I've seen on any action cam I've used.
Shallowest pothole in Birmingham:
Come to India bro Your life will change
As an Italian i'm still wondering where was the pothole supposed to be. Thanks
…that’s a pothole?
All Indians know what to say to this.
