I'm trying to get it to answer only pota contacts but it keeps calling everyone
TOTALLY AWESOME
Thank you ;-)
FIREWALL WONT LET ME DOWNLOAD IT
Does anyone know the part number of that replacement from Kenwood?
When you make a modification like that you never know what you’re gonna get. I have an IC-7100 & have zero issues of it getting to 100w on voice peaks. I tested it before I put it in my vehicle on a dummy load and watt meter. This modification is sure to shorten the life of the radio as well.
Great Video. I would display all spectrum that is averaged with the SDR since the 101D cannot average the spectrum display. Thanks N3SWL
Good point!
This is awesome! I’ve been wanting to make some Dstar contacts since getting my 9700 and so far I only have one via satellite. I knew nothing about the reflectors before your video. Now to get my local dstar repeater on a reflector with some traffic!! 73!! KC0ECQ
Go for it!
73s. Joel/F8MGW
Im using WSJT-x 2.6.1 and ft8 helper 2.5.0 and when i enter your settings into ft8 helper and click "ok" the whole program closes and when i reopen it it does not save anything entered, anyy ideas as to why? Is wsjtx 2.6.1 not supported?
You neet to go find the newest Helper that mates with your current WSJT. Helper will not work with updated WSJT unless you update Helper as well.
@@hamradiofrequencies i eventually found it and got it working :).. I like the idea of it but not for unattended operations..
Great video as I'm just starting. I can't seem to hear myself. So how do you tune to find yourself. I have your same set up.thanks
I am amazed you have no comments here after such a wide spread showcase. Great job!!! Thanks!
Well THANK YOU for giving me my first comment ;-)
What SDR are you using? It sounds great!
SDR-UNO from the SDR-Play web site. It is the default software for the SDR-Play.
My workplace was throwing one of these kits away in pristine condition. My boss let me take it home instead. Now i just need to buy some batteries to see if all the meters and personal dosimeters still work. They don't look like they've ever been used, and I can't beat free. I have a much more sensitive geiger counter i use for day to day stuff, but i love these old meters.
You must have an older firmware,. My screen is different than yours. I use SCU-20 cacble. When I updated to the latest firmware May of 2024. When holding DX GM and pwr button my FTM-100 goes into PDN mode, and displays, X DIRECT after holding Dx button. It can only access digital rooms. Can you access analog rooms in the NODE mode? After the firmware update that I did, I don't think I could get it out of PDN mode and into NODE mode like your radio display shows.
What a horrible direction for amateur radio!
Cool
You should make a visual video like this for the noobie HAMS explaining what orientation are for what frequencies, or how does one know what orientation to use for what circumstance. :) Visual is key. Awesome explanation. ;)
Thanks for the idea!
Thanks for the upload Rob, this is exactly what i was looking for. Thumbed & Subscribed.
Thank You ;-)
I forgot to mention that I have the dx101 also
This is great. I have a couple of the SDR plays. It does sound complicated for an old man like me
You can do it!
I have the dx10 And 991a and very happy with them.
Subscribed.
Thank you!
OMG at the content of some of those calls :) Great upload - thank you. 73, John 2E0SVB
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video. I see in the 9700 the manual says to program negative tracking for the Japanese Satellite Fuli so-29 I think it is, I looked up your video here after trying to program the ISS into my 9700 because I can't see if its negative or positive tracking. I really have only tried to start into this type of HAM programming today and only ever (for over 20 years) been HF orientated. Now in the 9700 Manual the example given has the Japanese Satellite with negative tracking to program into the 9700, but, I can't see or really even understand what tracking I need to program into the 9700 for the ISS. I was kind of hoping your video might explain something I'm guessing a lot of people already know quite well, but I really don't so I'm asking. Can you please explain this negative and positive tracking thing the 9700 has and why I need to consider it please ?????
Hola. Los repetidores que detecta el GPS,solo se puede conectar?. Porque de la única manera que puedo es con terminal mode.
"Hello. The repeaters that the GPS detects, can only be connected?. Because the only way I can is with terminal mode" That is correct.
Thank you, I am a visual learner, and this finally made it click.
How did you add the banner at the bottom
It runs by default updating from the Web.
Great job!
Thanks!
Watching a survey meter needle move gives me chills.
Thanks for the video. I’m new at this, why are you paper logging when you are recording the entire pass?
Just showing how it is TYPICALLY done. The recording was just for that one time only.
Thank you for showing that it is possible to paper log. 73, de W2MSA
What I did was a variation. I took an audio cord and placed one end in the mic hole and the other end in the headset hole and problem solved! Thanks for pointing the way!
Very clear. Thank you. We did find the full UK fm and dv repeaters list in .csv online and managed to convert it into the format that CS9700 likes. It was quite a game. But the club 9700 has its GPS position for the club and does show all repeaters near by. 73 de M0YDH
Clear, concise. Thanks for the video
Glad it was helpful!
This is good info but nowhere does it say that you have to change a menu item on the radio. You must set menu Item 40 (Cat RTS) to Disable.
Figured out why my audio dropped out on the full screen cam. All fixed.
Translated to English: You can easily communicate with contestants whether they are domestic or overseas, so you can have a lot of fun. The other day, I enjoyed JARL's All-City All-Group Contest. It looks like there will be CQ World wide DX content on the 28th and 29th of this month, so I'm thinking of participating. However, depending on the country, they say things in such a strange way that sometimes I can't understand what they're saying...
I have a kit like that, it works and frankly I hope it never has to used for anything other than a couriosity
Lets both hope it will not be needed but things are looking pretty crazzzzzy right now!
@@hamradiofrequencies , I agree, things do look pretty crazy, honestly we've been at risk for so long i think most people ignore it.
@@bobbytowesr3387yeah, we’ve been scared since the 1960s and the threat has (mostly) loomed over us but I think all the worlds leaders know things shouldn’t ever come to that
Great video. Do you have a link for the iCom software that you showed on the video? I am interested in doing this with my i9700.

Sorry, the programing software is here: www.icomamerica.com/support/firmware_driver/3345/
Nuclear events have occurred since you made this video. Try your survey meter now--you should get a gamma reading.
Excellent explanation! Can you explain what type of polarization should be used with antennas that are located among buildings or near dense forests?
Thank you very much for doing this video. I coincide with you that it is of questionable ethics to use FT8 in this manner specially to make "points" to gather QSL's. Having said that, it is very useful for data gathering on propagation. We are having an event for a lunar eclipse coming up in our area and I plan to use this robot to transmit and receive for 12 hours to gather the data on how the eclipse affects HF propagation. Thanks again. 73

Also, within WSJT-X there is avariant called WSPR that is designed for EXACTLY what you are wanting to do. check it out.

For me it looks like the audio decoding needs a brush up. AM stereo is very distorted. Helps to switch to MONO.
Thank you so much for posting about the zero knob causing problems. I thought my unit was dead however twiddling that knob a bunch of times brought it to life.
Glad to Help
What is the 2 meter Freq the net will be on tonight???
The net is always on 144.200 USB
Can you make contacts up to Toledo, Oregon???
Possible, but not probable
Thank you for calling me. I am sorry I got a phone call about my grandkids while th enet was going on. SouthWest Oregon is blessed with a wonderful community of Hams!
Great video! de W2CSI

I'm looking to take my first ham technician test next saturday. are you making contacts for points, POTA? thanks.
I'm not a paper chaser so, consequently, points don't mean to much to me. I just like the activity of practicing for emergency coms.
