My Nana and my mom use to make it for dinner . But they would put vanilla in it. And pepper. We would eat it over home made buttermilk biscuits. Yum 😋

When I served in the military. SOS was served for breakfast every day (while in garrison) and it was made with ground beef and I ate it numerous times. If made right it can be tasty. It was better than MRE’s for many days in the field.

Use it for chum.

Browning the bread in a frying pan or grill it is the same as a toaster. Just flip it over..

My father was never in the military but a few times he made this & we had to eat it. Even if I am starving to death I will never eat this again. My stomach is rolling just thinking about it. I love dogs so I would not feed this to dogs. Horrible horrible stuff!

Make homemade biscuits or homemade bread and use sausage for the meat it the gravy and add black pepper that will change your mind or even you could use hamburger and you have to toast the bread

Leo, SOS or Chip Beef Gravy is great when cooked right. I had it a lot while growing up at home and during the 23 years I served in the Marine Corps. Also you used the wrong kind of bread, you should have used everyday white toasted sandwich bread.

Thanks for the trip. I was in the army and eat that alot I like it. Hope to see on the next trip keep it up. It would be good to do a trip with yall.

19 years ago I worked at an upscale retirement home. I worked morning an lunch shift. Nice Diggs, mostly made from scratch menu. We had SOS almost every morning. In 2005 I'd say a good part of our clientele were veterans and wives. I like it too. My last husband was a Vietnam vet. Loved it. He passed 11 years ago from agent orange at 63. Only spent 9 months in Vietnam during his service. Now I've got a craving😊

Husband Jim wanted to send you one of his favorite recipes when Camping. Brown 1 lb of VERY LEAN burger, add a can of Campbells .cream of Mushroom Soup. Salt and pepper to taste. Pour over a pouch of instant potatoes. And he wants you to know he is from Washington State so not a d*** yankee. Love you videos

When I was in the ol Black Boot U.S.Army, the SOS was something to see...mainly eaten by the Northerners ...Us ol Southerners didn't really care for it . They would get their food on their plate or mess kit ,then they pour it all over their food . It look different from what you cook . It has small pieces of meat and a gray color gravy . Never did eat it in the Army ..
