    The replacement of the original 1970 T2 flasher relay with a new one works perfectly for LED bulbs. But since the spade pin connectors on the new flasher relay are not configured the same, it will not plug into the fuse box. Four short wire jumpers about 2” in length and terminated with ¼” male and female spade connectors will have to be made. Wire size of 14 AWG should suffice. The wire insulation color does not matter so long as the jumpers are connected to the same pin connections for terminals 31, KBL (or K1), 49 and 49a, into the fuse box. The male connector end plugs into the fuse box and the female end plugs into the new flasher relay.

    Are these as cores worth anything? Long story how I came into one. Been told it’s got racing gears but reverse is out. From reading it’s a “002”? The guy was involved in dune buggy racing.

    • @AxelPowersGarage
      @AxelPowersGarage Před 5 měsíci

      Yes! The core is worth $150 cd. I delivered a trans axle personally to avoid expensive shipping charges. Now, it just so happened that I was going to be passing by AVR Import Specialties in Abbotsford British Columbia and they took the core in and handed my $150 cd cash on the spot. Maybe if you check around you may be able find a VW parts supplier closer to home. This the guys in Abbotsford BC. avrparts.com/ The next link is for California Import Parts in the USA. www.cip1.ca/ Check around on the internet and maybe you will find some air cooled V-Dub parts people closer to your home. Good luck! P.S. Reverse is the weakest gear in a VW transaxle. Always treat reverse with respect. ranchotransaxles.com/

      They do come in different widths and the mounting hardware varies depending on the type of suspension. If you can find a diff from the same car you are working on, it will be a simple bolt in application. All the information can be found on the tag. Check a web sight called fordification.com for more information.

    thanks in the early 1970s my Dad drove a 67 Mustang Fastback 289 Automatic and he had our garage littered with Ford Rear ends. he bought out of junkyards all from different Ford models that had different gearing in them he would come home from work eat dinner then go into our garage to swap the rear ends in the family car to try and make it a little faster ! he often. ran around with. a stopwatch and was checking times with the family in the car on rare occassions it was just him and I in the car and as a boy i thought it was cool most especially when he laid Rubber on the road !

    Great video,just one little hiccup. How can you tell what wire is for what when there All painted? I ask because I just picked up a 72 super beetle and the previous owner had spray painted everything under the Bonet ( old english term) and now I'm facing a nightmare with rewiring the fuse box

    • @AxelPowersGarage
      @AxelPowersGarage Před rokem

      Haha! Yes, that can be a problem. Most often I scrape some of the paint off the wire to see what color(s) they are and check some with a test light and some wiring diagrams. Mostly, an experimental procedure. There is a guy on CZcams that knows far more about these heaters than I do. Also, I found some wiring diagrams that help. I chose to remove the gas heater completely as my Bug is only driven in the summer time. My heater boxes are in mint condition, so I can pull enough heat in from the engine to get me through those cool summer nights.

      Take the measurements to your local spring shop and have them custom make to suit your needs. That's probably more economical than shipping costs from a big box store. Very affordable and good insurance to help keep your rear axle from rolling out from underneath your truck.

There are a number of other rear ends that will be suitable for your '47 with minor modifications as well.
