MPACTODAY: Rough Cut of Interview of a collaboration with Dir. G.D. Marshall III
Saw the film in 1966 in London as a teenager. The message and characters never left me. Delighted to find it on YT recently. Thank you.
AWESOME!! Truths on display. Brings back wonderful memories of that so important time in the lives of our people. We were a village! We cared about each other. Oh that we could return to, or at least bring back, the love of ourselves and great pride we shared in that time. Thank you, Joan Coles Howard
He's right. You get killed going dolo; but ALL the movements have been taken over by agents. Every one of them.
Great video!
🎊
Thank you thank you!!!
I saw Dutchman in college. It moved and influenced me greatly. I never heard him speak about it. Thank you for uploading this!
You're welcome.
The woman and man are symbols/metaphors; of course it would be accurate if the knife was a metaphor for a lie.
A play where a white woman stabs a black man to death on the subway? How totally divorced from reality.
Shirley Knight was (Eve) enticing Al Freeman Jr. (Adam) with the apple. She was the forbidden fruit, that he should not have to try to eat.
This is excellent. I remember when 'Dutchman' originally opened in NYC. Much needed. And then the film, which continues to have a niche following and which heralded the move of Shirley Knight from conventional Hollywood vehicles to more important, more political performances. Thank you for this video.
