Aurora has spoken about her disappointment with humankind frequently in recent interviews and, because she is by nature hopeful, a sense of rage seems to be the only appropriate response to all the cruelty and stupidity in the world right now. By writings songs like this she shines a light on the things that many people would rather ignore and not think about. This whole album is a brave and beautiful exploration of the inner and outer worlds that we all inhabit and it all feels very personal to her. Her heart is absolutely in the right place.

I completely agree with you about the 90's girl rock! All of the singles had a 90's throwback sound too. The bass line in this song reminds me a bit of "Touched" by VAST, another 90's band. If you haven't heard that song, I'd recommend it. Not only is the melody a bit similar to this, but it also has a vocalization similar to the "Earth Chants" Aurora is know for.

Blade is very cool and on my longer list of favorites but still I like several songs more from the last album. Anyway great song but about sad topic (and some strong lyrics there).

Yes, nice reaction. This song is a top tier favorite battling with my long list of all time favorites. Her heart is big and breaks for all the terrible atrocities that befall children as victims of the world leaders. War is hell and religious wars are the worse IMO, religions have been the cause of so many wars throughout history.

"The Blade" would be great as a live performance (as is already the case for e.g. "Starvation" and "The Dark Dresses Lightly"). I wonder if Aurora will add this song to her concert list at some point during the tour.

Excellent reaction! I'm with you on the production side of things for this album. And regarding this song in particular, I think Ane Brun's voice really adds a very cool different dimension to the track. When I heard she was going to be part of a track on this album, this isn't anything like I was expecting.

Thx for all your reactions. I dont comment over every one but watch them :). This song maybe is not in my top top favorite but I liked it very much from the start. Still there are more songs on the album I love even more :). Interesting sounds + I love this humming parts. Ps. Yea she always experimenting with the sounds. She does not play safe (like: ok I am known from this style etc and I need to make something similar because my "fans" will like it) but she doing music how she feels in particular pariod of time and how she wants to experiment. And I think it develops her as she learn in the process and she has so much variation in her music.

the glastonbury concert has no good audio. if you like i can recommend a better version. thanks for your reaction, this song is just underrated. do you like some neo-krautrock? listen to 'sula bassana' or 'electric moon', music to drift away.

Hi ! You should check out "Band-Maid" It's an all female japanese hardrock band but their music cover so many genres from poprock to metal. I recommend you to listen to their song "Hate?" My favorite album. Her voice is loaded with rich tones. It's an instrument. I also love how experimental she is on this release. Looking forward to her metal album! Great review.

With the wind blowing through her hair and gossamer garments, she looks like a neoclassical painting of a goddess. Her alternating intensity and playfulness are hitting me in the feels… that is what happens to the heart!

thanks for your reaction. this song is about refuge into daydreams from the harsh environment. if i listen the cockroach line i always feel reminded to this little video where she visits the museum of natural history with her sisters.

I think it is like my second favorite from last album :). It really sounds like a dream. Beautiful sounds, vocals and poetic lyrics. 2 parts of the songs reminds me also Leonard Cohen (he has of course much different voice but still in this parts there is strong vibe of this artist). Dreams can be our escape but also a place when we mend which is good. But it is also can be dangerous (as you are absent from the world if this escape is too long) or can be sad when you think why sometimes someone needs to escape to dreams because "Everything's more quiet than here" and "Everything I feel disappears".

Don't neglect the Studio version of this song. Many of the songs are still being perfected live, and the studio versions are amazing. It's possibly her best studio album. There is so much anger and frustration in this album. I think that's why it's so much more relatable than her past albums.
