I can not believe that a CT with Contrast was not in the diagnoistic workup. She lost a long time being yanked around by incompentents. At times I think doctors gaslight themselves. Pancreatic tumors are notorious for wrapping themselves around the mesenteric artery. My dogs' vet had a pancretic tumor around his mesenteric artery and he was able to somehow get a Whipple which did not help him at all.

she was lucky that she was operated maybe it was not that big. mine is so big and surgeon said no operation until the tumour shrinks unfortunately I had chemo and radiation both were not working to shrink the tumour. my oncologist in a public hospital told me I cannot be fixed sort of abandoning me. since Nov 2, 2023 till now 29 March 2024 I have no treatment I am being left on my own. I participated in a cancer screening program hoping they can find something that will shrink the tumour if not I will be left alone and just die. that is the problem of having no money to go to a private doctor who might have a different opinion and who will work hard to save me. but I am only relying on my medicare benefits when the oncologist feels like seeing me feels like giving me treatment. I am at their mercy especially there are too many cancer patients I have seen being treated at the clinic I am not a priority. one doctor told me there will be no surgery because surgery according to him is a big thing. I had tympanomastoidectomy done in a public hospital that was also a big thing yet I was operated. but now it won't be happening unless the tumour shrink or maybe unless the oncologist suggests to the surgeon that operation will help me survive for long years instead of just waiting to die not treated.

I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer stage 4 last 31 March 2023. I underwent chemo 7 cycles after the 6th cycle the oncologist requested a ct scan to know if it is working. I had an appointment with my surgeon while wearing a home chemo hanging on my neck my 7th cycle chemo. my surgeon said " that is not working" pointing to the home chemo hanging on my neck. I told my surgeon the oncologist suggested I undergo radiation therapy. before I had an appointment with the radiology oncologist my surgeon requested for me to have another ERCP one stent was removed from biliary tree. One partially covered with metal stent was placed into the common bile duct. then the radiology oncologist explained to me the preparations for radiation therapy. I had PET scan and after 4 days I had another endoscopic procedure for Fiducial placement for SABR therapy. I had PICC inserted 2 June 2023 but I had it removed because of fear of infection the surrounding area near the wound where the needle of the catheter was inserted showed redness and too much itchiness I felt it was the tape or plastic they used to cover the catheter to be safe and in place. I started radiation therapy 23 Oct 2023 MWF till 01 Nov 2023 they said it was of stronger dose for 5 treatments. when I had the chemo the surgeon said the cancer marker rose to 2,000 but after my last radiation therapy on 8 Dec 2023 when I talked to the radiology oncologist he said the cancer marker decrease to something like 569 and he said it might still be decreasing so they do not want to have ct scan outright. the ct scan was done 16 Jan 2024 it showed it was not working too. then they found 2 small spots on my lung and 1 small spot on my liver and the only consolation was that the cancer marker was less than 400. they said they will refer me back to the first oncologist who handle my case the one who gave me chemo therapy. when I saw this doctor he said my illness cannot be fixed. when he started to speak about another chemo I reminded him it did not work before and he did not suggest a chemo of different meds stronger dose or whatever. he said my last option is the cancer screening program. I participated voluntarily to this program right away hoping they can find something to help shrink the tumour. the surgeon told me the tumour is big blocking the liver and a blood vessel unless it shrinks there is no operation. I was prescribed by my surgeon Creon to help me in my indigestion because I told her I always need the toilet especially after eating. the Creon is of great help to me. then I told her on and off pain she prescribed my Oxycodone 5mg. I never take the meds for pain but after the radiation therapy I felt an intense pain most of the time it is horrible early morning when I am trying to get some sleep. during chemo, I did not have that pain I felt after radiation my only concern during chemo I lost my appetite but I am eating I even gain weight. I lost my hair and because it was winter in June when I started the chemo when I touched a cold water there was like pins and needles on the tips of my finger but tolerable. and the PICC peripherally inserter catheter is very annoying I am always aware I need to take care of it might leak and very hard to take shower. radiation therapy for me is much better than chemo because the treatment would last around 25-35 minutes only I can go home take the bus and walk home. but chemo therapy would make me very weak sitting on the recliner from 2-3 sometimes 4 hours and always going to the toilet. then I will go home with a home chemo in a balloon which hang on my neck to protect it because it is toxic meds. at the moment I am just waiting for the results of my blood test and stool sample I sent to the cancer screening program hoping there is a positive results that will help shrink the tumour otherwise the oncologist will just let me die on my own. I am still taking Creon and Oxycontin 10mg plus oxycodone 5mg for pain. I started fasting last week of February 2024 from 7pm to 11:30 am the next day sometimes 12miday other times 1:00 o'clock if we are going out. I wanted to lose weight and I started to stop taking the meds for pain last 19 March 2024 till today. I am eating mostly vegetables either with chicken or fish. I am alright but without the meds for pain sometimes I had intense pain early morning and very hard to get some sleep but I tried to tolerate the pain. half of my mind accepted that I will die anytime soon but half of my mind is fighting hard to survive. I think if I have money I could go to a private doctor who will work hard in saving me than abandoning me like what I feel now because I went to a public hospital. many of those who survived pancreatic cancer because they were operated and their doctors do not just give up and the will of the patient to survive is of great help as well. my faith in God prayers of people who knew my condition is saving me at the moment. if only the tumour will not grow more even if it will not shrink as long as it is not spreading I will tolerate the pain. I am happy that you survived hoping I will too God's will be done.

Great interview, and great to see Matthew’s enthusiasm for what’s next. Question: Why do doctors not let their patients know what they are dealing with. My report showed “cannot rule out” cancer, and now I’m getting new tests that show things on my right kidney, one of my lungs and in my brain. My most recent doctor appointment said that the scan “needs to be watched” for signs of growth or other changes. Do they wait until 11:59:59 to tell the patient? Is there some kind of protocol when a cancer diagnosis is made as to when to tell the patient? I’ve had multiple stents placed in my pancreas, but none in my liver. At one point, I lost 66 pounds in three months. Does insurance balk at paying claims if they know you have cancer? So doctors hold off to make things better for the patient? Thanks

I hope Rob continues his healing and has a happy healthy life. This brings me to my issue. I have occult blood in stool, left side pain below the ribs, upper stomach ache, feel full when I eat a little, constipation, belching, fatigue ,and as of a few days ago, nausea and vomiting. Also my lipase levels are slightly elevated and slowly going up. Recent results of a CT scan with contrast of the abdomen showed everything to be normal except mild fatty non-alcoholic liver. I also had an ultrasound on my gallbladder which was normal. I’m looking to get a colonoscopy and an endoscopy in a couple months. My question to you is, if there were cancer anywhere, would it have shown up in the scans? My mother and grandmother both died of stomach cancer.
