I Had To Fight Off A Mama Deer 8 Days After My Total Hip Replacement! | Deer Attacks Dog
I know this video isn’t the typical RV and camping-related content I create, but it is a good reminder of some things to be aware of in the springtime while camping (or at home.)
Mama deer will defend their babies if they feel it’s necessary, especially from dogs. This doe attacked my dog Chip after it came across a private driveway after him out in the morning. I never saw a hidden baby, but it could have been anywhere nearby.
I struggle to move around in this backyard attack video because I had a total hip replacement just eight days prior! Generally, I’m getting around with a cane, but I left it inside in the heat of the moment. I was worried that if I went inside to get my cane or something else to scare the deer off, it would have hurt my dog. So, I was trying to scare the deer off with the only thing I had nearby, which was a very non-threatening seat cushion.

The whole time, in my head, I could hear my surgeon’s and wife’s instructions not to fall, or I could seriously damage my hip replacement. I didn’t listen. As Chip pulled on me, my leg/hip couldn’t keep up, so I went down. Not the most graceful moment of my life.
Overall, everyone is okay. Chip was inside and unhurt when the doe left, and I am a little sore but didn’t do any permanent damage.

On your F150 your ball, is a lot higher than on my f150 blue Ox setup. Should I flip my blue ox around and put it at the same hole as yours?
My Dad laid block and glazed tile on these bath houses, around 1970. Looks like they have held up very well!
@@markrenfrow9873 LOL. Really! That's awesome! The whole place is well taken care of.
What camp site was this? I was just there last week and was at site# 22 full hookup and it was really nice.
@SmokyMTNguy_ Hi. Rocky Fork is awesome. This was Site 2. Right at the very top at the hill right as you enter that upper area. Big site. Glad you liked it there!
@@GoTogetherGoFar ohh yes. Know it very well. I’ve been camping there since i was a little kid. Many memories with my grandparents there, who are longer with us. It’s one of the nicer parks.
What are littlemouth? Do you mean largemouth
Lol. Yeah...
Just bought a new trailer with this system. Thanks so much for video. Helps so much
One issue is you didn’t mention where to mount the brackets or what to do if the 9 links doesn’t work. Or even what holes to use on the hitch. You already had all that set up from your dealer.
This was clearly not what I was expecting at 7:30 in the morning after a hip replacement!
you should grease the ball
👍
Thanks! I needed this !
Excellent video helped tremendously, thank you for taking the time tp post it
Big help
The top is not very uv resistant and cannot support the weight of the sides for long. I add straps from side to side to support the weight and cover the white top with the sides of the old cover. 6 months is about all I can get. Still cheaper than than indoor storage .
really nice thanks you
Honestly you shouldn’t be going over 60mph anyways as your stopping power and control go out the window and why are you in such a rush towing? Driving a 1000 miles 65 vs 60 only gets you there only 45 minutes faster and over 15 hours is that really such a difference for the risk? There is a reason all U-Haul trails limit speeds of 55mph cause too much faster gets bad. In this video he mentions being cool up to 60mph so why add upgrades to go any faster?
Just bought the blue ox sway pro, how do you adjust the distribution? It seems my half ton sags about 2in in the back. I’m hauling a 2024 jayco jay flight 235mbhw.
Moody Deer and no Lynn lake
Do you have a video how to do this on a traditional non-power awning?
I'm sorry, I don't.
If you're supposed to use the 9th link, why don't they make the chain shorter?
I think that is a valid question!
If the goal was to ad more tension to the bars, wouldn't using a different link in the chains have the same net effect without having to get out the tools?
It could. The more I learned, including suggestions like this, I would encourage anyone struggling with similar issues to try adjusting the chain first. That very well may solve the issue. If it doesn't, try this.
Thank you so much!!!!!
Good pro tip. I’ve gotten real good at finding keys and locks in the ditch that fell off my back bumper!!
Confusing title because your truck is NOT a 2021.
Great video. Extremely helpful
This strikes me as a guy who likes to play pretend prepper, without actually knowing the ins and outs of using the equipment in a real situation. Like someone who saw things online and just bought a bunch
My KingBird cover shredded after one year and they want $50 to send a replacement. The cover isn't worth what I paid first time so I'm certainly not sending another $50.
My experience: After one year this cover shredded and the company wanted more money sent to a private Paypal account to replace it. It was originally purchased on Amazon. I'm not sending them any more money.
I got my awning today I cannot see a second stitched slot to feed the tubing in where the roller goes in mine came with the tubes out. I fed the top in the a second in at the bottom. But my third white tube had no stitched tab. It seems as though it may be for a different model. My roller and old awning had two slots like yours when the roller got installed? Are you familiar with a replacement that does need two slots used ? Thanks in advance for any help.
I actually double checked prior to ordering and it’s a 10 foot awning. Better yet. !!! Thanks again for the great video.
Lol, I'm glad it helped!
Dude !! I was going to pay someone 600-700 dollars to do this on my power awning. But finding this video I will get this done for the price of my new awning and pizza & beer for my helper. I have the very same power awning that is only 12 feet and this should be even more simple and quicker. Thank you so much for your great post. I’ll perhaps try to get some video and let you know how it went. 👍
Big Help,I was doing Wrong
Awesome! Thanks for putting out data without a bunch of fluff. Nice and concise 🎉
Do u have to put a SIM card in can’t it just go to your other phone can you use any sim
You need a sim card.
Great video. Saved it for future use. ❤❤❤
Should of switch the bolts around so you didn’t have to lift with your knee and you could’ve used your body weight
That a fat joke!? LOL. Kidding... You're 100% right. I don't know why I didn't think of that. This video has been out there for awhile and You're the first person to call that out. Thank you!
Nice. Hanging the pegboard like you did, is genius!
Is possible to conect for home wifi as well?
I use the gci kitchen but I went for the Ironman table which has adjustable legs so low for drinks by the fire or normal sitting for dinners.
I have the BlueOx Sway Pro sway bars. I am so glad you have this video. I did not know how to get the arms off without getting hit by the chains. My sway bars didn’t come with a wrench, but I have one I can use. Thank you so much. ❤
I suggest you publish a video on travel trailer electronic brake controls. My dealer installed a Curt version, which I think has been bought by Lippert recently. There is a specific sequence of connections and testing else the brake control will not function properly / always send 100% brake signal, which we experienced and later figured out the correct procedure.
This video is great to discuss in layman's terms the correct sequence of events to follow and results. I would like to ask, though, other videos and I think instructions, state one of the goals is so the front end of the truck is essentially parallel/level with the overall/rear end of the truck. The front end of the towing vehicle should not be pointing up (implies insufficient WD) or pointing downwards (too much WD pressure). Is this true:
I have a dealer-installed Blue Ox WDH. The dealer instructed me to count 8 links, not the 9 links you said the manufacturer advises. Also, you are counting from the tail end of the chain, want to make sure that is correct. What I recollect the dealer said perhaps use 9 links if insufficient weight distribution, so presumably 9 links from the chain link end would be a tighter/shorter distance from the control arm to the wdh a frame cuff rotating mount?
Mine just shredded , also.. I luv the design, butl it should last 3 yrs
Great video explanation. Just picked up my TT and had a hell of a time getting it unhooked. Now I know why...lol
I just bought this and was told at the dealership to put the chains in by hand and not use the bar to rotate.
Just bought a new Coachman Catalina. Purchased the Blue Ox Sway pro......little trouble disconnecting the trailer once I got it home, but I now see what step I "skipped"; not recommended on skipping steps. Ouch!!
Yours is mounted so that the angular support brace that ties the horizontal and vertical parts of the hitch is on the underside of the mount. I've seen other mount it so that the brace (the 45 degree steel section) is mounted in a way that its on the top (flipped) of the mount. Does it matter?
Good question. I don't think it matters.
Which campground is this?
Great instruction. Thank you!👍
thankyou
