Tigers in Prison - They need our Help!
Only in April- last month, 3 tigers caged in Parsa National Park, Nepal died. Here are 2 more in almost the same plight in Chitwan and we need to help them before they die too. Royal Bengal Tigers - such majestic animals who love to wander through and hideout in big, lush forests are forced here into a cemented tiny space wrongfully termed a “Tiger Rescue Center”.
Didn’t the government and the WWF vouch to protect our Tigers ? And actually double their numbers by 2022? Where are they now? And isn’t Bharatpur celebrating a Visit Bharatpur 2024 this year? Are they not seeing this shameful state of the very Tigers who are their crowning glory-their nature appointed ambassador for local tourism?
As people and bystanders of a grossly politicised and ill managed system we may not be able to immediately help these gentle giants but we can start conversations about it, tag and pressurise concerned authorities/organisations to take immediate action or simply share this message to our social circle.
Many may argue that these Tigers deserve this as they are labelled maneaters. But how do the predators of the jungle differentiate between a non-human and a human animal ? Isn’t hunting for survival their very nature ? But that’s a lengthy discussion for another day.
For now, it’s urgent that these Tigers be rescued from this horrid living situation. Maybe we can’t help them, or maybe we can - but how will we know if we don’t even try.
